Frybread, in South Africa we call it Vetkoek, (directly translated, fat cake). It's very popular and served with chicken mayo or savory mince (amongst many other variations). The burger idea is an interesting one, one difference, the Vetkoek is cooked beforehand and ingredients added afterwards.

During my childhood in Australia we were doing it tough and one of my favourite foods (that was very cheap) was "bread and dripping". Precooked bread fried in fat. Butter burgers (Culvers) are from WI, which is where much of the dairy production is in the midwest. The first Culvers restaurant is 20 minutes from my house.
I really like the specifying of specific kind of meat, bun, etc. As it keeps everything fair and balanced. Then if people would like to use an alternate bun or something like Chorizo patty, they have 30 methods to decide which they want to use. Props to pappa for sticking to the "method" being the key difference and allows all the trends and variations to be applied on their own.
I grew up with Vetkoek (fry bread) and I am 58. We have made it every way possible. The vetkoek burger, the vetkoek hotdog, you name it. But just fry it plain, fill with filling of choice (chicken mayo, curry mince, whih is the traditional South African thing to fill it with), or with jam or golden syrup. Make small finger food vetkoeks and fill with pastry cream and a drizzle of glazing. With Vetkoek in your repertoire you are never at a loss what to feed people.

My George Foreman grill has been the best sandwich/panini press for the last 10-12 years, maybe more. I would never thinking of cooking anything on it - just a double sided, ribbed (for all of our pleasures) toaster press!
I love how cooking tells its own unique story, just like in a good book or movie. It's wonderful how the journey from ingredients to the finished dish is an adventure in itself.

All in all, I'm gonna have to try that airfying method.
The Luther is legit good. If I remember right it showed up on Food Channel and it was a stadium burger, I made it a couple of times for the family. I however would cut the glaze in half and grill the none glazed sides so the can hold the burger without getting the glaze all over their hands
I first time I saw the Luther burger was in the Boondocks animated series. I then found out it was also the origin of the burger. Grandad’s version was far more indulgent and when people ate it they would get a food coma prompting the restaurant to get beds instead of tables.

People worked a lot more than, we have become coddled by tech. It is a lot easier to eat a slightly burger when you do manual labor instead of sit on a chair and type all day. When I get out I do 15000 to 20000 steps a days not 500.
@adderous

And I'm sure all of your steps are uphill in the rain, too. You aren't worse than cubicle office workers for doing manual labor, but you aren't better than them either. Your weird elitism aside, having worked construction for a few summers you're absolutely right about being ready to tear through a massive lunch after spending all day hauling things to the dumpster during demo.
Patty Melt will always come out on top for me. Something about simply two things of toast, double patties and cheese is just enough to make anyone happy.
Love the cheeky ‘this is naughty’ in a very decent English accent, thought Jamie Oliver had done a cameo for a second there
I remember this show. It was right around my high school graduation. This show was called MTV Live which became TRL and MTV became 24 hours Britney Spears, InSync, and Backstreet Boys. This was the LAST time you saw anyone other than somone from a Boy band or a Teeny bop princess on MTV.
okay but acknowledging that whole air fryer debacle is actually cool, also amazing video papa
I appreciate the long hours it took to do this episode. Alot of thought and heart went into this one
Well done! Exhaustive effort. Thanks.
WTH is wrong with Kendrick in this one??? He aint allowed back😂😂
Lovely! The fried bread - we call it vetkoek (fat cake). I prefer to use yeast. You can proof it longer or shorter or proof twice to get different results. I've tried the wrap before fry, but I prefer to add the patty after making the vetkoek. It's nice with savory, but butter, apricot jam and cheddar on a fresh, crispy vetkoek is hard to beat.
burgers look very appetizing and tempting
I like to lightly smoke my burger patty, freeze it and then pull it out sometime later to pan sear it. Has been working well, but it's easy to dry out or overcook it, so I stay on the light side and get it into medium territory.
This has to be the best cooking video I have ever seen. It's great and professionally done, hilarious and very informative. Brilliant!
Sous vide burgers are legit the best burgers I've ever made at home. The real perk is they can be as thick as you want. Super good.

Do you need to serve them as soon as they're out of sous vide or can you refrigerate them and then only sear them before serving?
@BenKizzee
Жыл бұрын
@@bananeeek8376 I've done them either way, but the better result was to let them temper/refrigerate, Then unpack/dab the surface with a paper towel, then salt/pepper and sear. Treat it the same as you would sous vide a steak. Ensure correct hygiene practice and never exceed over 2 hours > weight to cook time does vary.

I love how you were adamant about the 75/25 beef, absolutely no 80/20. When I was a kid I would have given my key arm for 80/20 because my parents always got 93/7. Essentially when i was in control of buying my own hamburer it felt like absolute luxury to be able to get 80/20. But now 75/25 intrigues me.

Hello, thank you for the video! I would have liked to see the judges try the ultimate burger to see how they'd rate it. I would also have liked their reasoning for their ratings, especially Kendrick, who seemed to have low ratings for a lot of them. I wonder if the judges eating burger after burger affected the ratings at all? Kendrick with his "everyone is so creative" got me laughing so bad I choked. Good work everyone!

my husband got me an 11 in 1 air fryer for my birthday last year. it was basically 500$ it looks like a big toaster oven and does EVERYTHING. air fry, toast, bake, reheat like a microwave, everything. its saved my ass so many times since i don't have a house with multiple ovens. especially if i need to use my big oven to keep multiple things warm while I finish the rest of the meal. in my opinion.i love it more than the high speed oven i had when i managed a cafe
@toriless
3 ай бұрын
I got a better one for about 1/4 the price, it also pressure cooks unlike yours. Reheats like a microwave, so makes you roasts into rubber, even a toaster oven better with ANY meat. Liquids is where microwaves are the king unlike a circulation ovens which are good for meats but shit at heating a soup. Can you do fall apart brisket in your over priced toy like my 1/4 priced unit in under 2 hours, I bet you can not. You know there are pressure cookers and slow cookers too. Look into into it. I have them and the portable circulation oven as well as a bigger oven. It cost me much less for the pressure cooker, air circulation oven (air fry is fraud), and slow cooker, with the savings I can buy a compressor powered ice cream machine too.
