Perfect place to stash your scraps, or hidden fabric, also your waste accumulation can be used as stuffing. 😁
Misty this is awesome and you make it look so easy !! Could you also use this for a quilt storage container ? You could put two zippers to meet in the corner for a larger opening or a long one that covered three sides.

I don't see why not another sewing sister did this.
I love this! I'm going to make them out of denim for my grands. Thank you!
I've seen this type of project years ago in the crochet world, and they use inexpensive (ha! In this day and age..) bedpillows to stuff. But I love the suggestion on using it as quilt or blanket storage.
I made a floor cushion similar to this last year. Love this idea with the jelly rolls. I added a strap from side to side on one side. Makes it easy to pick up and move around
Notching the corners was an amazing tip
I have a jellyroll quilt top finished so this is perfect timing!
These look so cute. I think I would have made it with 1/2 to 5/8 seams. I also might make it as a cover for a box that holds other things so it would be multipurpose but still beautiful.
Great project. Great inspiration for customizing. I could see using. Panel for the top. Also liked the suggestion someone made of using canvas as the bottom. I have a small bean bag foot stool and after time the bean bag filling smashes down and you need to add more filling. I used packing peanuts to add to the filling. Those added a more structure to the stool and didn’t change the comfortable-need of the stool. I also liked the idea of using scraps to add to the filling.
Your an inspiration to us all Misty, thank you + your crew from Ireland 🇮🇪
Fun tutorial, Misty! Both ottomans look great! Now you have two for your kids!
Looks like a great project for a beginning sewist all the way to an experienced sewist!
Great idea using this beautiful fabric jelly roll. So pretty. I made myself a cube ottoman last year with scraps and each side were different patchwork blocks and fabric sets. I put a zipper across the bottom and filled it with all my trimmings I had saved. This gives a firmer ottoman and is perfect support for my feet when I sit hand sewing at night. Great job.👏♥️🇦🇺
Awesome project. I have to try this Thank you , Misty.
Great tutorial, Misty! You really made it look fun and doable :)! These projects usually scare me, but you made it look fun and easy. Thank you so much!
I didn't even think about canvas. What a GREAT idea!!
Amazing Video I am ready to start mine now. THANK YOU so MUCH!~!!!!!
Ordered the pattern right away! Can’t wait to make one! I need something to put my feet on when I’m doing embroidery while sitting on the couch. Wooden ones just aren’t comfortable.😆. Can’t wait to make it. Thank you
Great turorial- love the idea of storage too! I need something more comfy than the little wooden step when I'm sitting doing hand sewing.
I love your creativity. But I'm thinking dog bed! My teenagers would love the ottoman but....the possibilities! Thank you.
What another wonderful project. Thanks Misty for all your work on these tutorial, I for one appreciate them.
this is one of my favorite KZread videos from Misty & MSQC! How awesome! Thank you always❤️
Perfect, i've been needing to redo mine. 👍
Misty. This is the most amazingly easy project I have ever watched from you all. And I have watched a lot of them. So cute. Thank you so much.
These are great! Hope I can get one made for my grandson. Thanks Misty for sharing ❣️
Super cute project! Wish I was a teenager again, I'd make it for my bedroom!!
Ooh, nice😮 thanks Misty, hugs, Chel 🌸
What an awesome idea. Sure beats the plastic ones back in the day.
Really like your ottoman! Due to a lack of space, I need one slightly smaller...maybe 15.5 x 20.5 tall. I'll have to play with numbers & see what I can do. Thank you for your inspiration, Misty! You did a great job on this project😊
Are you going to have a tutorial for the winter star on your shirt?

Very beautiful! I’ll have to try this.

You could use the ‘waste’ strips to make handles - even less waste 😊 love this pattern
Love this ! I made one of these in home ec in the early 70’s

Misty this is AWESOME 🎉 thank you
This was great, lots of tips and technique and something that is truly home decor. Many thanks.
Very cool!
I think I'm going to zig-zag over all the seams for additional strength in case the kiddos end up jumping on it!
Great tutorial thanks for making it look so easy and possible for me to make! You make Monday mornings worth getting up 🤣
I just purchased the pattern but there are no measurements for the smaller one. What size of those pieces?
Thanks Misty
I love this!! And waste was screaming key ring to me.
Thank you Ive been wanting to do a project such as this but was clueless! ❤️❤️
This is so awesome! I'm going to try this :)
Lovely
Fun project! Question - if you made an inner pillow to put the filler (so you could launder the cover) would you be able to fit it in through the zipper opening? I ask because that filler is so staticky because I think it's stryofoam or similar and that stuff goes everywhere!! Thanks for sharing!
@maryschiff9580

I think that’s a great idea. I would use the same method as making the cover, but replace the quilt with plain cotton. The filler is easily manipulated and you can see that it’s not fully filled so it should be able to be stuffed through the zipper opening.

Another option would be to make the inner pillow (or lining), put it inside the ottoman, stuff it & then sew that last seam closed. One hint, my daughter had a giant bean bag that she let the grands and their daddy use on the floor. Those “beans” tend to mash down so they had to ass filling much more often than they wanted to. So you might want to use a zipper on that lining too. That way it would be easier to refill, save ripping open that seam & sewing closed again every time you need to add filling.

Or velcro for the liner closing I'm thinking. Agree, the filling will have to be replenished.
That was awesome
Very nice.
Misty, this is such a super simple project, great idea. May I make a minor suggestion? When you cut the quarter inch on the corners, you might explain that this makes turning the corner simpler. Keep up the good tutorials.
Great video 🇭🇲🦜
When I do this I am going to make the bottom a coordinating canvas to get more quilt for a larger size!
I love this tutorial! I saw it and decided to get started right away. Having the video along with the pattern is so helpful. I am having trouble with the small seams on either side of the zipper though. Thought I understood but then my zipper ends were on the outside! Good morning Jack! I'm still not totally understanding how to get that to lay flat and look nice. And the pattern shows a completely different approach.
Misty, you are delightful. Thank you for bringing new and interesting projects. Love your energy. It's wonderful having Natalie too. She bring awesomeness to the tutorials as well. Love the triple plays. ❤️❤️❤️
I just cut up a vintage flour sack quilt to make a jacket. Cutting is terrifying but end result is worth it.
Great tutorial! Thinking about making for my 4 great- Grands. Can you please advise how big the bags of filler were that you used? I went out to look and there are so many sizes it’s hard to know how much I would need. Thank you
Great project! I’m thinking of using yardage for free motion quilting practice, the turn it into the ottoman! Always looking for what to do with FMQ practice pieces. 😅
❤this Misty! How much bean bag filler does it take?
❤❤❤
Love this project! How much yardage do you need for the smaller size? Do you think I could use walnut shells for filling?
I might serge those seams
Great tutorial Misty! Thank you. Did your top pieces shift at all with the thickness of sewing two quilted sides together? Just wondering if it might be necessary to use a walking foot?
For the zipper could you do the Butler method or zipper tabs at each end?
Question please, I want to make these for my grandchildren when they come. The problem is on Amazon for the filler they have 5lb and 10lb bags, which would fill these up? I want to buy the right amount the first time lol Misty you are amazing! Thank you!
Love this project! Misty, when you sew a jelly roll race, and you have 2 or 3 duplicate fabrics next to each other in the roll, do you just sew the duplicates together, or put them on the bottom of the jelly roll pile before sewing them to the long strip? su
Hola divino todo lo q hacen ! Pero me gustaría q subtitularan en español! Gracias Saludos desde Uruguay
Love it, how much quilt batting would you need?
Oh, what fun! What are the dimensions of the smaller one?
Brilliant tutorial, thank you❤. Completely unrelated to quilting but can someone explain to me why in American tutorials often people use the word acrossT , ( t at the end is added), instead of the traditional across?

It really just is the way some areas here pronounce things... sort of like our accents. Some areas flatten there A's, soften there R's, you get the picture.

Hahaha--You know- like when we use the wrong "there" for "their." I guess my brain is in "sewing mode", not grammar.

Yes, in some areas we do ! Lol. As you British know, we Americans can butcher the Queens English ! Love our slang! Not making fun, I’m part English and have relatives there! ❤️❤️ to listen to them talk!

Hi Misty loved this project. What are the dimensions of the small ottoman? It’s the right size for our RV😊
@debbierucker2771
8 ай бұрын
I would like to know those measurements as well. Looks like Perfect size for RV
I turn my zippers like your sewing it in & put it on zigzag no length to secure the ends so I don't pull the zipper pull off. I don't pin the zippers in either, I just sew away.
Hi Misty. What is your stitch length?
Could you please tell me the name of the fabric used on the smaller bluish ottoman?
What is the name of the quilt on the quilt ladder (right hand side of the screen)?
Misty do you encase the filling so that you can remove and clean the outer part? Just curious...
What’s the name of the quilt hanging behind you? It’s so cute.
How many pounds of bean filling do you use? What kind will hold up? TIA
Can you tell me what the brand of sweatshirt that Misty is wearing?
I guess I missed the size of the smaller one. Can someone give the measurement and the yardage needed? THANKS ( I didn't see it on the pattern back)
Can you sew the zipper onto the body/side 1st
Did I miss the measurements for the smaller one?
