Triple Play is a favorite tradition here at Missouri Star Quilt Company. Once a month, Jenny, Misty, and Natalie each demonstrate their own unique spin on a favorite block, technique, or template. In this episode, the talented Doan ladies show off three fabulous new quilt patterns made with the Orange Peel template.
Misty's Main Squeeze quilt is made with a fat quarter bundle from the Essex Springtime collection by Robert Kaufman. She starts with a set of easy square-in-a-square blocks, trimming each one with her trusty Bloc Loc ruler. Then it's time to add the Orange Peel applique.
Jenny’s little Poppy Patch quilt is made with just one charm pack. Her fabric is Black Tie 5" Stackers by Dani Mogstad for Riley Blake and Robert Kaufman's 2023 Kona Cotton Color of the Year, a pretty red called Crush. This pattern features dainty Orange Peel flowers in two different sizes.
And Natalie's String of Pearls quilt combines easy half-square triangles and tiny, criss-crossing Orange Peels. She uses the mini Orange Peel template, Missouri Star Sew Light Fusible Adhesive, and precut layer cake squares by Robert Kaufman.

Triple Play is my absolute favorite I wish there were more of it
It's always fun to see how you three creative women interpret something so uniquely.
Natalie wins this one ❤ it's beautiful. they all were beautiful.
My favourite quilt is Natalie’s quilt. The orange peels used in that way just makes the quilt so interesting. I thought that doing the blocks out of half square triangles to make the square look like it was done en point is a real brain saviour too.
They are all great! Love the gradient of Misty's, the contrast of Jenny's, and the uniqueness of Natalie's!
Natalie- I loved your quilt so much!
Love love, love, all three of these quilts. I’m gonna have to find time to do all of them. I think I’m particularly crazy for Natalie‘s quilt. I just love what you did with the Kaffe fabric. You toned it down and it didn’t take anything away. It just added so much more. Love you girls.❤
Natalie is aging backward!😁 Beautiful quilts. I always enjoy the triple play.
Beauty and creativity combined .. and I love all 3 lovely quilts too! 💕
Natalie nailed the “Wow” factor! Stunning! All the projects were beautiful. Love the scalloped look. I have the templates and need to try this again. My first attempt a few years ago was not good. But I have gained knowledge and experience. Watching this tutorial has been super helpful. Love Jenny’s idea of cutting in half for poppies.
I like Natalie’s the best. I just love that string of pearls. I will definitely make these. Thanks for posting. 🌸
Yes we all want to know Natalue! Gorgeous.
Jennie’s would be perfect for Remembrance Day as a table topper… or St. Patrick’s Day….I also enjoy seeing the creativity of different generations in coming up with ideas…gives the triple play lots of flow in design options…you three ladies are simply impressive, and the flow of conversation and positivity politeness is so refreshing
I loved them all, Misty has such great colour choices and Natalie is a great designer. Jenny is the thread that holds everything together
Wow..they are beautiful just beautiful 30:30
Three great quilts, but, Natalie, your quilt gave me extreme quilt envy!!!
Your triple plays are marvelous! They teach me so much!
Natalie’s quilt is stunning. Looks vintage. I love Natalie’s creative energy. She is truly talented.
Love your videos!
I love all 3 quilts. So beautiful all 3 quilts.
I love triple play so much.
504 yep that would be hundreds . Love this Natalie
Three lovely quilts ladies. Natalie the lacy effect you did with the mini orange peel template is perfect for a border on my backing of the valentine quilt MSQ did this year. Thank you for solving that dilemma for me!
I love Natalie's quilt. I even think I have a Kaffe layer cake.
All three are over the top!
Love triple play day!!! Thank you for some great quilt patterns and tips

I have all the sizes of orange peel templates so I I really appreciate these great new ideas for them. I always find it so interesting that you each come up with such unique ways to use the same block/template. Triple Play days are the best! Thank you all for sharing your creativity with us.
Wow. This triple play was awesome
Thought Nat's quilt won the day. Great job girls.
Hi from Minnesota......
Jenny! Currently, I’m working with my daughter & granddaughter teaching them to sew (clothes). My daughter did one dress that needed help. She followed directions to the tee. But, not ‘’old school” directions. She tried it on and I was surprised at the instructions. We worked around it and ended up with a wearable (and much improved) item. I provided “tips” and really must dos . This wasn’t QUILT related, but, just letting you know….. “ole school “ is sometimes the best!🥰
I love Triple Play and look forward to it every time. I have made so many of your Triple Play quilts. I really don't like Misty's quilt this time, just personal preference, but I think it might be better in a print. I don't know what kind of meetings you all go through to come up with triple play, but I love, love, love it and hope you do it forever! Like Becky Richardson I wish you did them more often!
Wow all so pretty ! Thanks ladies❤❤
Love the Triple play!! Love all the ideas!!
Beautiful all of the quilts thank you ladies.

I really like Natalie's quilt. Has a whole different vibe to the finished quilt! Thanks for the video with 3 variations.
I am going to try some of the new invisible threads. Like many, I remember the fishing line threads which always gave me a difficult time. All three are beautiful

I can still hear my Mom way back in the probably late 50s making dresses for my sister and I and she needed to use the invisible thread for sewing in zippers! Her words weren’t printable!!!! Yes, the invisible thread we have now is fabulous!!!
Very Very Clever
This was so much fun and the quilts are really pretty! Thank you all for always going above and beyond on these triple play tutorials!
Wow! Natalie’s quilt is stunning! Almost as stunning as she is.

Natalie's wins my heart today ladies ! ❤❤❤ I look forward to each Friday to see the next three beautiful quilts! Thank you sweet ladies!❤❤❤❤

All of these are so great . Nat I am going to try yours for sure. Love Kaffe fabrics. I have a pack of 10 " that I did not know what to use it in. I wanted to keep the print from getting lost and this quilt is it! Thank You ladies , always a pleasure to watch you.

Natalie, Oh my, you really have out done yourself this time with your quilt. It is fabulous, darling! Simply gorgeous! Keep those modern quilting juices going. They are refreshing.
All three unique and pretty quilts. Natalie's is my favorite! Love triple play
It’s always surprising that you all come up with such unique and interesting quilts! Thanks for sharing!
Beautiful quilts ladies! Jenny is just the best teacher ever! She explains every detail needed, especially for the beginner or someone who hasn't done a particular technique. So thankful. Jenny is actually the one who taught me how to quilt. Natalie has such a creative gift! Her quilt designs are beautiful! She as well has some nifty techniques. I'm grateful ladies!
Congratulations Natalie, on your hard work……your look Great, and so does your quilt, as usual.
wow beautiful!!
What brand is the BALL BEARING ROTARY CUTTER .... I had never heard of it before???? Do you sell it in your stores???
I always love Triple Play week!!! This week Natalie’s quilt is my favorite!!! I’m definitely going to try making a smaller version of Natalie’s quilt!!! Thank you! 🥰
Three beautiful quilts as usual but Nat's is simply stunning!
I love the creativity that you 3 come up with. Jenny: don’t beat yourself up about doing things the old way. I have every tool and rotary cutter possible but when I made my Baltimore Album Quilt, I still cut each piece out of Manila folders and traced each one on the fabric and then cut each one out. I don’t regret a minute of the time. I enjoyed every minute of it. Be proud of your traditional skills!
Well done.
Natalie's quilt is so innovative! I never would have thought to butt the orange peels end to end like she did. Stunning quilt!! 💜💜💜
Lived them all but Jenny's made my heart sing.
Your videos are a standout part of my Friday morning. A cuppa coffee, a bagel, and Missouri Star Quilt Co.
