How to Make a Camoflaged Miniature Tank From Scratch
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Hello there! In this video I'll show you how to make a camoflaged tank out of foam scraps for Warhammer 40,000. Initially, I just wanted to make a terrain piece, but it ended up looking so good that I might actually use this technique for making proxy models instead of buying them.
As usual I'm focusing on Warhammer, but there's absolutely nothing stopping you from using the same concept for Kill Team, Necromunda, Bolt Action or whichever tabletop wargame you prefer.

I couldn't find a link for cheesecloth that I feel confident in recommending. Be aware that cheesecloth comes in different grades. You probably want something in the lower end of the scale.
Feel free to comment, if there's something I forgot to list.
This video and description contains affiliate links, which means that if you buy a product via one of the links, I’ll receive a small commission. This doesn’t cost you anything extra, so it’s a nice way for you to support the channel and it helps me to make more videos and not die from starvation.
Now, since you can’t get the same products all around the world, the links will in some cases be my best guess to what the nearest equivalent is, so make sure to do your own research before buying, so you can be sure you’re getting the product you want. If I'm entirely unsure which product to recommend, I won't list one.
Thanks for your support! I'll make sure the dark gods of crafting hear of this. 😊

Thanks for including the minor errors in your videos. It makes me feel better about mine.
The net looks great! I never thought of using foam to build a tank as a stand in for the model but it is a good idea. Thanks for sharing this.

Glad you like it!
You can add little sticks and foliage for added camouflage detail.
This video, plus the ones you make for crates and camo netting will come in handy for when I work on my space port/space dock yards terrain. Keep up the good work!

Glad it was helpful! 😀
Great idea and smart realisation. Thanks for the video
Wow you’d never know there’s NOT a real Tank under there 😂😂😂 brilliant idea and thanks for sharing it with us all 🙏🙏🙏🤓😍👍👍👍👍👍👍
That looks awesome!!
Very cool mate. This would be an awesome terrain feature. Definitely be making one of these, maybe more :-). Thanks and also congratz on how your channel is growing...well deserved man 👍
This terrain piece looks better than most tank paint jobs on the table lol... I wonder if you could collab with 'Scratch Basing' here on youtube one day. He hoards gribbly small items for scratch builds, but he has great DIY techniques as well. If you'd like a topic to cover, I'd be interested in how to get some "landfill"/junk yard 40k basing/terrain done. I have some cogs and cables (I split apart a modem cable for small scale wiring), but I'm missing some things that add more detail to fill out the bases. Pipes from brrush covers or split apart wine corks for concrete chunks for example.

That'd be cool. Scratch Bashing does some mindblowing builds! 🤯 Good idea. 👍 I think Bill Makes Stuff has a tutorial has a junk yard tutorial.
Well that was great! Very fun build, very dynamic video, nice energetic music that is suprisingly fitting for warhammer, very good job
Hooray for a new cool video on this beautiful konale and so everything is well described and I do not regret that I subscribed to this cool konale that I advise many and I wish you good luck❤❤❤
Really creative and cool idea!!!!
This looks really cool and might use some of these as terrain pieces for "Modern" games that don't have vehicles (Zona Alfa, Last Days Zombie Apocalypse or Close Quarter Battle).
This is a criminally underrated channel

Thanks, mate! :-)
Cool video
Love it! Can't help but think the barrel wrap would have looked better a bit looser though.
Creative and effective work, superb camo!
Fantastic!👏
Cool tutorial.
thank you!
i have a terrible new idea for the Stygies VIII army I wanted to start collecting...
Sneak 100 Out of joke this really are a good design to make Decorations for My Battle camp
This gives me an idea: how many tanks could you make using this and a single tank kit from GW - so one element original sprue, the rest foam covered in netting. With all the different weapon options and accessories in the Leman Russ, could you fill en entire heavy detachment with a single kit?

Nice idea- this gives the option to let some parts of the tank uncovert- for example the left track on one tank, the right track on anohter, the turret on a third etc.

That's a pretty neat idea.
After this, I can see a tank overrun by time and vegetation. "post apocalyptic setup" kinda vibe
When you want to bring roster of 10 LemanRusses but have only 3
i love these
I did this about a month ago and I used paper craft templates to make the tanks. Also did plane which was cool

Cool! I've never tried paper craft for the hobby. Like, specific printed templates for tanks or did you just fold some shapes and stuck them together like I did?
Another great build. One way to add little more contrasting detail would be to add hessian streamers to the barrel instead of netting. kzread.info/dash/bejne/q4CtlNGffdiXpc4.html did a good example.
What kind of foam would you recommend? I really wanna make 2 of these for my raptors

XPS foam for sure, if you can find it. Someone commented that he'd folded some out of cardboard, so that's an option too. 😁

The final result has only an empty plate!
Okay, now THIS ONE seems a bit far fetched... Any good War Thunder player knows that the only effective way to camouflage a tank is to put a bush right on top of the turret, so that nothing is actually obscured from view unless you are hiding in the brush... Smh🤦
Shortage on bandage wraps is caused by the Russia/Ukraine war.
