What this has shown is that CSP needs a vector fill tool

Thank you so much for sharing the speech balloon technique!!! It shows a very time-saving alternative to drawing up to the lines underneath a linework just to fill that shape without the worry of being too under or over the linework.
I would want to suggest something, when we use vector with symmetry tool, its great till we keep drawing, but when we want to edit some part, the other part doesnt update, it would great if the other updated too, there could be an toggle button, Thanks!

Yes! I would like this too. I find it weird the symmetry tool behaves this way, and for erasing you have to use transparent color with your brush to erase

Uh, idk it worked for me? I think you just need to have snappingcturned on, on the move tool? Maybe im wrong though.. but i could have sworn it was updqting both sides i was moving..

The eraser tool doesnt have vector snapping on by default but it can be toggled. I think every tool can do this except lasso fill.
Criminally underrated tutorial. CRIMINALLY.
Theis blew my mind The ballon tool solution never crossed my mind!! Tough, to be fair, I barely use themore comic related tools
This video answered literally all of the vextor art questions i had with CSP!
Thank you for this tutorial! yet another useful feature/toolset, Clip studio is knocking it out the park with these videos.
Whooaa! This helps me solve my prolem to work with vector concept for color! Thank you so much!👍
Thank you for showing the custom tool, that was exactly what I needed!
Very interesting way of coloring using a vector like method. Would have never thought of using the speech balloons like that.
Fantastic!
Great tips! Using the balloon tool is smart!
Pretty cool technique!! Thank you for sharing
this is an awesome tutorial, genuinely so helpful!!
Thanks, Dadotronik. This is an ingenious method. I switched from Adobe to CSP in January and was wondering if I could somehow use the Balloon Tool to vector fill, but couldn't get there. Then I found this video. Excellent. CSP has a lot going for it but it still has a way to go.
THANK YOU!!! IT WAS JUST WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR
Thanks you so much, very good tips!
YO!! thanks for the info on how to make a vector fill tool, you're the best. Also figured out how to erase using the same tool. CHEERS
Awesome!!!
Heckin love these official CSP tutorials 😭
Thank you!
Thank you, good man!
Thanks!
(Google translate) Great about the custom tool. CSP will make a leap the day it includes filling vector strokes with variable width. It is also strange not having the option to export vectors as EPS to market them and not having to depend on Adobe.
Wow, bless KZread. I was getting tired of the damn back and forth to a raster layer and not being able to transfer the colored final to the other projects. Ugh. This will save me hundreds of hours throughout my life.
This is a great
Personally, I hope Celsys make some improvements to the vector workflow. They don't need to turn CSP into the next Adobe Illustrator but they should copy some of AI's powerful vector tools. A tool similar to AI's Live Paint Bucket tool, for example, for creating vector fills. Reducing the number of control points on inked vector lines would be a huge boon also since, currently, you are very limited when you want to make adjustments to the lines. You're better off just redrawing the line, as shown in this video, rather than trying to move the control points. Also, the Pinch Tool is okay but Celsys should look at the Concepts application's Nudge Tool--which is what the Pinch Tool should have been.

@robonxt

@@yeahgirl11 There's a "simplify" feature that reduces the amount of control points, maybe that's what you're looking for?
Great tutorial! Is there a way to change the color of the balloon/fill layer after the shape has been created?
This has been really helpful! I'm wondering, is there a way to create a line with some varying color, like a gradient, without using an overlaying raster layer?
This blew my mind. I just need to figure out how to export the finished image as or SVG or something. I can still only export vector for the lineart not the color.
Fill should be a default vector tool, very useful
Geníal lo de la herramienta personalizada. CSP dará un salto el día que incluya rellenar trazos vectoriales con ancho variable. Al igual se extraña no tener opción de exportar los vectores como EPS para comercializarlos y no tener que depender de Adobe.
that's really awesome using the speech balloons to color in the vector, but now I'm wondering, can you do a gradient instead of just a flat color within the balloon?
@gemmadistefano9814

Maybe with a clipped layer?
this is very cool but why is this hack of the voice balloon tool necessary when fills should be built into vector layers or we should be able to copy enclosed region vector paths into new layers for flat fills?
im hoping for a futrew where u guys havea vector fill tool and adobe illustrator export
Once I filled it in, it wont let me edit the lines like you have at the end?
É O DADOOOO CARALHOOOOOOOOOOO VAI SEGURAAAAAANDOOOOOOOO
I'm believe I'm very familiar with vector now.. it's just that I only remember it exist after I've done like 80% of the lineart..
Thanks for the video, really helpful, I made my design on this way and I found few situations, like the impossibility to make gradients? How we can make it?, more relevant to that, its when I finish my art, I wanted to export to svg format my design, to other programs but only recognize some lines of my hold design, somebody know how to dealing with this situation? is it even possible to fix this? 🤔
How do you rotate 1:11 the canvas without opening up the top menus?
how do u export it tho? it wont let me export as vector
But you can’t scale these down with the lineart. So that kinda ruins the point of vector fill right?
A question for which I have not yet found a definitive answer: Can a closed vector path be transformed into a selection in CSP? In PS, closed paths can be turned into a selection (marching ants), and it would be great if CSP allowed this as well!
Why is this not one of the default tools?
Is there a way to export and maintain all the correct vector data to then use in another vector program? I've tried "export vectors" which saves as .svg but it then doesn't load correctly in separate software (affinity designer)...?

@@TheKevphil ah that's a shame. I even kept the csp lines a simple as poss but it Designer still didn't recognise them correctly. Re opening files into csp, do you mean it can open .svg? I couldn't see that as an option?
@dumbcat
Жыл бұрын
@@TheKevphilcouldn't you export CSP vector art as PNG, open the PNG in a vector program, then convert the PNG to vector. seems like all the line width variations would be kept.
How do you export the complete image to svg? I try and only the linework saves, not the colors. Also when I zoom in it's pixely, not smooth. Any idea why?
@dumbcat

i see what you mean. i zoomed in on a vector line in CSP and it was pixelated, but i zoomed in on a vector line in adobe illustrator and it was perfectly smooth even at 6400% zoom

@@dumbcat Exactly, it's not a true vector. I use a wacom so it's definitely up to par resolution-wise.
There's one downside: when you put all of this in a folder, you could not move them together around the canvas. Is there any way we can move the linework AND color fills together?
@bentontramell

Click on the folder, use the select tool to box the artwork, click on the scale/rotate icon on the pop up menu bar Now you can move everything together. I also use this with the mesh tool to reposition the line art and color together.

Line width control is something unique to every artist that makes it their style, why would anyone want to automate that?
@silverembers
2 жыл бұрын
I know when animating, I sometimes mess up my line width and it isn’t as consistent as I want it to be. Having an option to adjust it helps me a lot! It doesn’t mean all the lines need to be the same width though, I agree that line art can be a big part of someone’s style Though, I will say that the neat thing about this vector tool is the fact that adjusting the width doesn’t always take away from the style ^^
@sharkfiesta

Variety is the spice of life! An artist can have their own style in most pieces and also automate some steps in others! Like the video explains, this just takes a lot of the guesswork and re-doing bits when scaling for print/stickers/various media.
@anr5525

youd be surprise how important line weight consistency is in animation. were usually given a standard on how thick the line is, usually around 4 pixels but entirely depends on the production
@alexandrabruges9321

Some reasons: your pencil isn't very good at pen pressure or you don't know how to Variate the line naturally
5:59 In this part of the video you do what I've always wanted to do but nowhere is it clearly explained or skipped, could you please share the parameters of your custom tool so I can fill my vectors? It would be great!!
"Are you counting the undos?" nope I count the minutes
Although I appreciate your effort , it's better to use another software so that you create custom shapes which you can fill with color and it's already a vector drawing. in your example not only you have to draw the lineart in vectors but then you have to re-pass the lineart with baloons (which are shapes in other vector drawing sw) that can be filled... double work = no way
Could you guys maybe include the voiceover next time so us neurodivergent people don't need to watch the video six times to figure out what's going on?
