I know, right?? I mean, i really like the shading assist and multi-layer liquify and a lot of the fancier features (ie the 3D Stuff) sound great - but the Alignment Tool and the Text-tool updates are waht really made me go: "OMG - FINALLY!"

THE TIMING OF THIS IS PERFECT. Finals crunch just got so much less stressful!!!

CSP is so good at understanding artists and their struggles, god this is amazing!

I just recently learned how to use Clip Studio Paint and these new feature would help me greatly. I'm especially excited for the hand camera. I hope they'll be able to capture the whole body in camera for future versions!

Great video. I am amazed by the hand video capture. That is crazy. Not something I would use often, but still. Love the new mixing paint, as I am also a traditional artist and that will really translate between digital and traditional much easier for me. But the break out that totally blew my mind is the shading tool. Holy paint buckets! That could be a HUGE timesaver. I tend to work a lot of colors into my shadows anyhow, but to have this baseline in a couple of clicks... .NUTS! Love Clip Studio. Been my go to for the last 10 years.

Thanks for explaining these great features. The one that caught my attention was the fisheye perspective ruler but I think I'd use things like the text wrapping and shade assist more. And maybe the tools for 3D models as I am teaching myself how to use Blender so that I can make models.

I love that font style you used when you were showing the text tool! Also, this video is amazing

I literally just opened back up clip studio paint after almost 8 months to a year of not touching it on my Wacom Studio Pro. Just haven't had the flame to draw and had a piece waiting on me to finish. This shading assist is a huge game changer. Literally apply shadows and highlights for you and after some fine tuning and cleaning up you have what you want. Literally struggle with my shadows and highlights for my work, but with this I feel I can gain more confidence with that and work to get stronger in that department.

Wow the hand scanner!

I had a commission that required me to use the align tool and it was due last week. I had to do it in Illustrator. I’m slightly angry but this is very pleasant news. I’m very very happy.

Ok, I am sold, that shading assist tool looks way too good!

There are actually several somewhat more minor features hidden away, so it's definitely worth exploring. One "extra" with the type tool is that you can drag out a text box (independent of balloon or caption container) and the text will flow into that. Now, if CSP could just implement hyphenation tables--!

Thanks for the more in-depth explanation. I love csp, but I find that while their updates are very good theyvdont really take the time to go over each one, so i end up just never really understanding whats going on, lol

i can't wait to see if they start to add more for the animation side of Clip studio cause it needs a few quality of life improvements.... also yes finally i can't wait to start using the shading assist my brain was terrible at judging the proper areas to much thinking.

I love the new update, I havent even tried all the new features except for shading assist which I love! Can you do curve texts in CSP? I havent really played much with the text feature. Oh and I wanna get a camera just to try the hand scanner hehe

Totally agree with you and this is what has slowed me down with producing more work or completing work. Definitely working with getting stronger in this department but this is a big helpful tool you can use and just add improvements.

damn! as animator I can see how amazing this panorama Filer will be a game changer also the 3D head setting with Hand scanner will saves a lot of time

I wasn't to keen on it, when it was announced, but that's some REALLY good stuff

all of them are helping and making QoL better but I am still missing one thing for years now: Camera RAW tool like in PS

The "hand scanner" was one of the biggest selling points for this update, and I'm seeing it's a bit disappointing: it does not scan the _hand_ (which starts from the wrist), it only scans the _fingers._ Granted, you can adjust the wrist manually, but then Celsys branding the feature as a "hand" scanner is misleading. The new 3D head models are a big no-brainer for me though. I might be upgrading just for that feature alone.

Great new updates! I'm especially keen in the face 3D Builder. No more missusing video game character editors for making character reference XD Does anyone know what's about the people that purchased v1 in the timeframe where Clip studio announced that they'd get the upgrade free? I think I was in that timeframe but in my account I just can see the upgrade purchase option :C

How sophisticated is the auto shader? Shading a human face is one of the trickiest things for a beginner so it would be interesting to see how it handles that. The example of the video (shading a head in profile) doesn't really showcase the tools limits.

Looks like they have some interesting features in this new version. Thank you for sharing, I just hope they stop the weird permanent license but no updates without an update pass nonsense. It makes no sense.

Will these updates be maintained even if one does not pay for the upgrade pass?

I hope Clip Studio will also add customizable bodies to those 3D heads. The heads alone are not enough in my opinion. They could have at least made these heads into a “bust”, rather than just a head alone. But ideally, we need customizable 3D models that have a full body.

I was mostly excited for the shading assist, but I have one question. Can the shading layers and coloring layers be applied to one layer automatically?

I think, right now, they are only applied as seperate layers. But you can always merge them together afterwards :3

I don't have any data I can rely on to give you an answer, but I personally did not experience a lack in performance while using 2.0 on my computer C: I haven't tried on iPad just yet!

I have version 2 but the text feature isn't working for me... selecting multiple text boxes and changing the font does literally nothing

How this shading assistance work on 2d image without information about volume of the subject? Also shading involves highlighting, mid tone, darker tone and shadow. This one doesn’t look well sort out.

I have a feeling it wont, but with a little practice it won't be hard to handle the last 10% of shading manually, I hope shading is handled as its own layer(s) to make editing easier.

V3 comes next year... and you dont get updates after the 6 months if you buy the "perpetual" for the upgrade ones I believe (if you dont get perpetual, you need to pay monthly... but if you get perpetual you still needs to pay 6 months if you want the new updates after 6 months, and next year comes a new version, this isnt ok for me)... maybe for the new people get this... but this isnt perpetual at all.

If you get the perceptual license for 2.0, then tes, these features are there. But I think you would need an update pass to receive FUTURE new updates with features. OR change to a subscription to always have the newest version ^^

I'm still not going to give up my one-time-purchsed version for the subscription-based 2.0. If I wanted to pay an outrageous subscription to a program, I'd have got Photoshop long ago. Yes, these new features and updates are amazing, but I'm not giving up what I already own in exchange for something I have to pay the company for permission to use every month so I can access my own files.

Not here to sway you, and you can feel however you do about it, but i just wanted you to know that you aren't "giving up" on your current version. You can use your current version forever, no matter if you get an update or not. The pass is 10 bucks a year, too; not as outrageous as photoshop either.

You can get the perpetual license, though without the yearly pass, you'll get the new features a lot later. I only bought perpetual for now. Will wait and see if I really need the next v2 updates. If not, I'll just stay with the basic v2 features since I'll be getting the new ones when v3's out anyway.

As far as I understand it; if you already have a perceptual license, you can just get an update pass like Adolin mentions. And then when the next big update with features comes out, you can buy the update IF you want the newest version. (I might have some details wrong because it IS a bit complicated). So you don't have to buy the entire license every time (like with previous Adobe software before it became a subscription-app).

@Nadiaxel Yes, I think this is mostly true. You buy the one time V2 version and don't get the updates. You get the subscription pass and you do get all upcoming updates. No idea if V3 would be part of that but I do not assume that will come out in the next few years anyway.

I understand how good the technology is If the computer does everything for you what will u do or learn Drawing and painting are hard and it is supposed to be that way something r not supposed to get easier or have easy solutions for growth

Depends. If you purchased the Version 1 since January 1, 2022 the will give you a free code for Version 2. If you purchased it before you have to pay, but you have discount.

Hey just a quick question about "align & distribute", does it tell you the position of the object in pixels? (like from the top left of the boundary box) so I know where the object is on the canvas?

Project files as in Webtoon projects or just regular .csp files? I had no problem opening either in verison 2.0! I think it's more likely its the other way around (from 2.0 to 1.0) that could be a problem, but I'm not sure ^^;

I haven't used the 3D models until now, mostly bc I felt like it would be too much "cheating" and most art I see using the 3D models looks like they traced it way too tight...but I really think I will start using them now. Along with the shading AI. I am currently working on my very first comic and while I think my art is adequate and I think my story will be good, I am taking WAY too long to do pages. I've been working on it since last July and I only have 5 pages done...

I have seen people using the 3D models in different "degrees" if that makes sense. While someone uses them by tracing over them, because that's what's most helpful for them, I've also seen people use them just as a reference - copying the pose as best as they can on a seperate canvas. It's totally up to you how much you want to get assisted, and it's definitely possible to use them in much less degree than others ^^ Beeest of luck with your comic!

don't worry, professionals use 3D models all the time to speed up the workflow, it's not like the 3D does the entire work for you, you still must have the skills to make it look great

I've always said that I won't get the 2.0 update, but the shading assist are really tempting after seeing your video so I probably can't resist xD But when I click buy on the upgrade from ver. 1 to 2.0 PRO version for 20 dollars it shows like I'm buying the EX version for 123 dollars D: Or maybe I'm just confused of what to click on, cause I feel like there's 3 different places where I can upgrade

I was having the same issue but I personally got mine to work via getting the upgrade in the Clip launcher rather than on their website. There should be an option if your version is up to date to upgrade to 2.0 and that one gives the $14 price
