But make sure you subscribe to my channel! Vector layers are awesome when you are drawing line art and want to create those awesome anime and manga drawings. Vector layers enable you to adjust the lines and line art even after drawing them to completion. We all know that fixing line art afterward is a pain in the butt, but with these layers, it's not so painful.

    Nice video. Vector lines are GREAT for manga/anime/cartoon style drawings, but it works for everything. I like using vector lines for the sketch, before the final part of the illustration, because it allows me to experiment with thickness and textures, as well as do those small corrections, and that results in a clear decision of what to use for the final lines on a normal layer

    Hi Caderfix! Thanks for the awesome comment and have to say that is an interesting way of using vector lines. Already in the sketch phase...that is something pretty nice as you can truly explore what thickness works in the final illustration. Superb!

    In illustrator there is an option for the pencil tool that allows you to auto fill a drawn shape with a predetermined color, without a stroke. Is there a similar feature in CSP?

  • @okuha

    @okuha

    Yes...I think you can configure the lasso tool to autofill a shape with a color of your choosing.

    @okuha Not sure if I've done this right or maybe I missed something, but anywhoo:) I tried to combine/merge 2 vector layers and when I did it came out weird and had eraser marks on the piece. So the question is, did I mess something up? Or is it just something I shouldn't attempt "merging 2 or more vector layers?

    Hmmm, tbh I actually have had similar experiences, so I would say that it could very well a bug in the software. So yeah, I guess you are not doing anything wrong, it could be that the software is doing something wrong.

    @@okuha I will be trying again soon :), oh also random question. Would you know how to fix ink blotches? Not sure if it's the correct term 🤔. Anywhoo. What ends up happening is I'll be drawing/lining things up, then out of no where my pen on the program sort of goes and does a thicker ish blotch effect. I'll shake the physical pen and it'll fix it temporarily, but not sure if it's soley the pen or the program doing this or both? Would you know any fix?

    what happens when you change a raster layer into a vector layer? does this prevent it from being blured and pixelated when changing the size?

  • @okuha

    @okuha

    3 жыл бұрын

    Hi there! If the layer has color, it will be changed to black and if you have anti-aliased elements in the layer those will be pixelated and sharpened to a vector form. If you don't have anti-aliased lines/elements they will stay intact (though the color is still transformed into black). Hope this helps! :D But after it is vectorized, it will then work as a normal vector layer, meaning that it won't get destroyed when scaling up or down in size.

    hi what if i just use vector layer for lineart then the rest like coloring etc i'll just use raster and save the illustration as raster in the end? will there be any technical difficulties if exporting because I have that one layer in vector?

  • @okuha

    @okuha

    Жыл бұрын

    Thanks for the appreciation! Short answer would be that you use too low resolution image size. Meaning that you have to increase the resolution to something like 5000x5000px and then draw with relatively small pixel sized brush like 7-15px in width. This way you should get pretty good results ;) happy drawing!

    A question for which I have not yet found a definitive answer: Can a closed vector path be transformed into a selection in CSP? In PS, closed paths can be turned into a selection (marching ants), and it would be great if CSP allowed this as well!

  • @okuha

    @okuha

    2 жыл бұрын

    Mmm, you kind of can do that..maybe. The way I see it, you can select the path and then create a shape from it and then select that shape to create a marching ants selection? I kind of do stuff that way, sometimes.

  • @pixelpusher1393

    @@okuha Thanks - interesting! That means the shape would need it´s own separate layer to make that work?! And can selections be saved as Alphachannels in CSP? Background: The reason for asking is I´m trying to wean myself off of Photoshop for illustration. One of the features keeping me in the Photoshop-Illustrator loop is that you can create separate paths with a common border with the boolean divide filter in Illustrator, import those paths into PS, and use them as masks by switching them on and off as a selection. To my knowledge, Adobe Illustrator is the only app whose divide filter creates usable separate closed paths with common borders with other closed paths. Affinity Designer for example has a very cumbersome workaround to this functionality, and it´s not really usable. Now, CSP can import paths created in Illustrator as SVG files, and if what you say works, this might be a missing link.

    @@okuha Thanks for replying but I got it now; if I zoom in on a vector line it pixelates but if i enlarge the line or zoom in with the 2D camera it doesn’t pixelate. I guess the zoom pixelation is the software way of making the work lightweight and avoid freezing. But all good. Thank you

    You need to lock the current vector layer in transparency (the icon is the lock with gray/white square) and add another raster layer on top, select "clip this layer with the one below" option. You'll put your color change on the clipped layer.
