I’m a digital artist who is passionate about anime and manga art. My true artist journey pretty much started with CTRL+Z. When I experienced that and the limitless color choices and the number of tools I could use with art software, I was sold. Drawing digital anime art is the thing that makes me happy among eating cheeseburgers in between veggie meals.

thank you so much for this video!! very helpful :) Is there any way we can buy your custom brush?? it's exactly the kind of brush i'm looking for but can't find anything like it in the shop :/
okuha.com has all the needed links, shops, and brushes, etc. Thank you for the comment and hope to see you again!
@@okuha thank you!!!
i have version 1.13 ... thats a later version right? or am i just dumb lol sorry its just one specific brush i wanna import n its photoshop but i can't quite figure this out n it seems so simple 🥺
Clip Studio Paint is currently at 3.0+ version, so it could be that you might need a newer version to be able to do the import.

If its vectors how come it looks pixelated when I zoom in
I suppose it's because screens are made of pixels. Do vector images created with Illustrator somewhat look pixelated while zoomed in? Idk. Try to zoom in and compare a line from Clip studio raster layer vs a line in vector layer, there should be a difference.
@@BGomez-tk7lu I compared a vector from clip studio with a vector from affinity designer clip studio was very pixelated and affinity designer was not.
bro i use simple mode in this, cuz studio mode is far too complicated for me, how do I switch over to studio mode and get used to it better?
I don't quite understand what you are saying. Sorry.
@@okuha you know the simple mode in clip studio paint? I'm forced to use that because the mode professional artists use is far too complicated for me. And I was asking how to get adjusted to it.
Great tutorial, but sus shapes 😂

This is so nice to hear! I try my best to give you another boost for another month 😁 Thanks for everything!
You made my day! I just started learning CSP. I'm an avid Photoshop user and this tutorial opened up my horizon in digital painting. Thank you very much!
Glad I could help! I too was a long time Photoshop user, but after finding CSP, I've not returned to Photoshop.
I dont understand. How can you change the color after you applying it?
I have a keyboard shortcut for the fill tool.
@@okuha thxs
So why we use raster layer?
It's a choice
hi would u happen to know how to change material to brush ? i cant drag certain brushes
Sure. When you have selected a brush. Go to Window -> Sub Tool Detail -> Brush Shape -> Brush Tip. In this brush tab you can change the material to the brush. Hope you found this helps.
cool bro
Thanks!
amazing video
Thanks!
Such a good background speed paint!
Thank you!
nice.thx for the help.
Glad it helped
i just started learning to draw a week ago and with this feature it will go even smother when i learn how different angles and such works. thanks for the tip
Glad I could help!
i feel like this just removes all of the structure ofc its probably fun but as a beginner i feel like they wont know how to learn from this i think the trial and error from making the headshape yourself and adding your own guidelines would be more beneficial i can see some pros like if you arent using a display tab might help with practicing in that aspect or maybe practicing eyes or hair but its mostly just tracing with a couple other things but idk this isnt a diss to you just my take on it
Appreciate the comment. Thanks!
I follow you ..nice work.. and I love your work. where do ai buy your pens
Oh thank you! You can get the from Etsy for example. www.etsy.com/shop/Okuha
Love the nice basic tutorial
I'm glad you liked it!
These studios are great! i know some from some good movies, i love so much the ''your name'' i watched about 6 to 10 times i stopped counting.. trigger has an great draw line, expressive and animation as well as the shading and yamanami mai did an great job (search for her videos)... Ghibli is an Must and an inspiration as well as Ponoc and now the Suzume no tojimare movie that is another big tittle to follow and learn ( i watched 2 times in an row like ''yesterday and tomorrow'' the only movie i did it and i watched it about 5 times) I really loved your line so precise and lineart, how you reach this level of fast and precise curves on line?? Thank you for inspire me so much, i am learning alot with your videos. my goal is make visual novel game but i first need to learn fundamentals (doing right now) and shader (found your cell shade video super helpful) and many more until i get an good aceptable draw and paint to make VN games
Thank you for the awesome comment! your name and suzume...yup so so good stuff. Thanks for the compliment and yeah, learning and practicing fundamentals is something I need to do too...on a constant basis. VN game, would be awesome to see it one day.
how much you earning now?
I'm planning on doing a video about this soon.
@@okuha very interesting
Perfect!
Thanks!
thanks, so much!
You're welcome!
Why do people in the West wear hats at home?) And sometimes in the summer?) I can't understand, explain
its called fashion or style - i yhink he records it in winter so he wears a cap, i dont wear cap inside but i think its jus personal style
This video is super interesting. I’m a freelance graphic and motion designer since almost 10 years. I live almost exclusively by client work which can be quite exhausting and boring so I’m looking into other solutions to earn money. If I understand correctly your 2 main places driving your traffic are you blog and yt channel. Would you recommend one over another? At how much traffic you were able to reach mediavine?
Yes, 2 main traffic sources are YT and my blog. When it comes to recommending one or another...that is too tough to say. YT has its own benefits and blog has its own. Blogging is harder than YT, but it's super passive and easy to outsource. YT is "easier" as a platform to get views, but it requires different kind of consistency. So it's all about what type of content production you enjoy the most. Mediavine required/require 50,000 sessions, approx. 60,000 pageviews/month
that's honestly so interesting
Have you tried Print on Demand? I see potential for your art. Like posters, metallic posters, Shirts, Background art, Stock graphics???
I tried roughly 4 years ago and made some sales but didn't honestly know what I was doing. I then closed those POD stores and since then I haven't adventured again to that. I have thought about POD a lot, but I'm not yet sure whether there would be enough demand for my stuff to justify the time invested setting everything up. Even though I know setting one up is few clicks of a button....but to make it work, time is needed.
@@okuha Well, I'd approach it as a marketplace to put up things I do while I practice art...
Cool video Okuha. I plan on getting your pencil tools to work with the inking tool set I got from your gumroad.
Hi there! I remember you and thank you for supporting me, it truly means a lot. If you need any help with the tools or anything just contact me!
awesome video man
Wow! Thanks man. I already thought people wouldn't like this type of video at all. Glad there's at least few of you who liked the video.
Aww, I really want to get that quality of style you have displayed here. It's so clean! 😮 Ah! What type of blend type you use to make the shadow layer to blend so good with the base colors layer? I believe Multiply is not it because that darkens too much 🤔
Thanks for the appreciation! --- it's multiply 😂
Hey Okuha. Congrats on your win! Wish you nothing but the best for the next years. I want to start a blog about graphic/motion design, but I know nothing about blogging, so Im wondering, did you use wordpress, or did you code it?
Go for it! I use WordPress and can't recommend anything else (when it comes to blogging). You might want to check this page: okuha.com/tools/ (affiliate links). It lists all the tools I use to run my blog.
Oh, hi. I read your articles
Awesome!
I'm still 1 year in art things, i guess my journey still long. thanks for the video, it gives me motivation
Best of luck!
That's really interesting ! It's not easy but we must keep working hehe ! By the way, where did you find the brush PENCIL no 1 please? I'm on CSP too but didn't find it, it's so smooth ! Thank you !!
I made it ;) It's a custom-made brush (took quite many hours to produce it) and not a standard one.
@@okuha Ooh I see ! Did you maybe think or already share it free or for sale ? It's so beautiful ! ^^ Thanks for answering !
thank you for your Wisdom. What blog service do you use? And are the ads google adsense?
I use WordPress and Mediavine adnetwork.
oh wow nice. Who do you have as a host? @@okuha
Well done mate and thanks for sharing. It's nice to see how other artists make money
My pleasure!
Wow, nice! I love 2 phases: gray-cel shading and the coloring phase! :D Do you have any full clip like this?
Thanks! I do have but haven't released to public...and I don't have plans to do so...maybe behind a payment wall or something but we'll see.
Thanks for sharing! :D BTW, you mentioned a media ads name VINE or V or something (KZread' CC is not correct). May I have a link or name of that media?
No problem! The ad network is called Mediavine.
@@okuha Thanks, bro! I watched your other clip "CEL SHADING FOR BEGINNERS", but can't comment. Can you do some clips like that for other techniques? (soft shading, B-W, etc..)
Thank you for this video with more relatable and realistic numbers for people who are trying to figure out how to make ends meet as an artist! Do you think that we need to have industry-grade skill levels to make a course that will sell well? Out of what you've mentioned, blog writing is probably not something I will get into and I also don't have a following, but making courses might be something I'll try if the sites can bring in traffic for me.
No problem, glad you enjoyed the video! I think the better skills you have in any topic, the better sales you make (taking into account general market demand for a given product/service). Do you need to have industry-grade skills...I believe that when your course brings value to people then that should be enough. Now, it's another topic altogether to determine what is value. People value different things at different levels.
@@okuha that is very true! I have been holding back from trying because my experience is just as an independent freelancer, but you've given me some hope! I'd like to ask too - while you have mentioned that skillshare and udemy brings in organic traffic, how many percent do you think your sales originate from traffic driven by the platform and how many percent from your efforts (social media, KZread, blog etc)?
this is very helpful, ty so much! your art is also incredible!!
You're so welcome!
Hmm money😫😫
krea ai also do this
Thank you for sharing this! Best of luck
Thank you! You too!
Hey Okuha, this is the first time your videos have popped up in my feed and it seems like this one is getting some decent traction! I love your art style and when you mentioned a udemy course i was excited to check it out, however, i dont see any links to your udemy course or gumroad page? Maybe you could add those links to the description of all your videos and channel description to make them as easy to find as possible. It may help increase your sales a bit. Anyways, I've subscribed and am watching your other videos now while searching for that udemy course! Good luck! Im looking forward to seeing more of your content in my feed :)
Hi Dave and thanks for the comment. I don't promote Udemy that much. I have one link attached to this channel and it (behind that one link) has all the links to different stores and products. Hope you can find the one link from the channel header :D Thanks again for subscribing!
