How To Get a New Cow To Do Anything You Want

Our training of our new family milk cow continues. We realized she is very motivated by alfalfa which we use to lure her into the stanchion.

I grew up family camping. Dad built a big wooden crate/cabinet that housed our lanterns, stove, cooking equipment, tent, sleeping bags, and hygiene items. Everything non perishable we needed for any place. The coolers held ice and food. This box had wheels, many doors and drawers, locks and latches, handles. It rolled up the ramp to ride in truck bed or on a trailer. I’d guess it was about three to four foot square. It folded out on two sides to make a counter for cooking. The best thing about the camping box was that it kept everything organized and in one place. Never had to search for tent stakes or cook pots. Always cleaned and restocked upon return home. It took commitment, but we all felt how worthwhile it was when we enjoyed camping with minimal hassle.

Sounds a good bit like the one my father built. He built 1 that was similar to a bedroom dresser with interlocking back and side latches so it could stand tall or come apart for easy moving. We each got 1 for our clothes and rainy day activities with the bottom one holding stakes, ropes etc. He built another for the kitchen area with both sides opening for use as a prep area. The front opened as a shelf for the Coleman stove and the main box had shelves for can or box foods of different sizes as well as small hooks for cooking utensils and a cubby for matches, sewing kit and a box of Band-Aids with neosporin for all the kids frequent needs lol. We each had a "Ditty Bag" for toothbrush, toothpaste, shower needs. My mom would hang the bags under the shelf and tell us to go brush our teeth as soon as we finished eating because she might not see us again until night time when our friends sent us home or it was dinner time.

Take some black plastic with you and some rope to create dry areas above, and around the campsite area. Tie the plastic to trees. You can also cover the table, over any food you want to leave out. When you return choose a specific place to store all the camping stuff together in one place and use totes that fit in the vehicle. Prep time will be easier next time.

Breakfast usually something hot, pancakes, eggs french toast etc. We packed our own kitchen too camp chef. Lunch was usually sandwiches, then dinner big meal of like tinfoil dinners. Hamburger, potatoes, carrots, with cream of mushroom on top. Good luck! Bring card games to play In Downtime. I brought scooters too, cuz the campsite had paved roads.

When camping in the rain, get tent up as high as possible with entrance downhill, dig a shallow trench around 3 sides for water to run away from tent (not entrance side) Have a nice big tarp roof in front of tent for people to sit under and stay dry / cook meals etc. Have a mat to dry feet before entering tent and/or under tarp area (no shoes allowed inside) The idea is to keep water/mud away from the living areas. Even a spray bottle with water to rinse off feet is helpful

Something I've learned camping with my family (2 adults and 3 small kids) you will not need as much as you think! Especially food, we planned for normal meals and snacks like we do at home but we were so busy hiking, and having fun, we just didn't care to eat. A good essential is a bucket for washing dishes and soap, towels, and an extension cord! Not sure where you're camping but we had electricity at our campsite and brought a fan for the Texas heat and 2 extension cords!

Family camping trips are always so fun! But lists are the best thing. Get the kids to use your list and make a pile. They hunt down the big stuff that's easy, and their clothes/pillow and you get the tiny/particular stuff. Night before check the list and get the last few items.

Justin, When it rained real bad at our place in the spring our driveway washed out continously. I found this product called waddles to help stop the water from running off the driveway. Found the product after watching Stoney Ridge Farmer. He used the waddles to stop wash outs from going into his pond. Basically it's straw tied up with a weave netting (looks like a very long, and large sausage). We placed 4 where the water was flowing hard. It redirected the water, and stopped the wash out. Lowes and Home Depot have them but there expensive. I bought mine from a sprinkler company. Just a thought for your wash out.

Family camping: Go to a military surplus store and see if they have any heavy duty shipping containers. You're looking for the containers that are about 5 feet long, Hardigg style. They're a plastic type material like rubbermaid containers, but MUCH stronger. We had one my dad claimed was originally used to transport missiles. I don't know if that's true but it became our camping kit. Dad built a frame from 1x1s for inside that helped add to its stability and gave us the ability to compartmentalize it. It held all of our kitchen supplies - 2 camp stoves, 3 cast iron skillets, 1 cast iron dutch oven, plates, cups, a percolator, silverware, kitchen towels, a roll of paper towels, so much more - and other things like matches, lighter fluid, extra tent stakes, a clothesline (we'd go camping for a week, clothesline was needed to hang up towels). We called it the clamshell. The nice thing is it was waterproof so we could even keep this thing outside and our camp stoves wouldn't have any issues when it rained.

Oh! A few more things I thought of. Get a rubber mallet that has a wooden handle to keep in your camping supplies. If it doesn't have one already, install a hook into the end of the handle, to hang it up on your clothesline or from a tree branch when you're camping. This makes it easy to know where it is at all times. Get a welcome mat for each tent, the kind that is bushy/bristly. Be sure your tarp under your tent is large enough to put the mat on. This will help keep dirt and leaves and such out of your tent. Get a whisk broom with dustpan for each tent. Oh, and yes, I say each tent because trust me, it's MUCH easier to camp with kids when the older ones have their own tent! Bring firewood! You won't be able to collect enough for cooking and in some places it's illegal to collect downed wood for firewood. In a pinch, a wadded up piece of aluminum foil works GREAT to wash dishes when you forgot a scrubber. Bring two deep plastic pans. One is to wash dishes, the other is to rinse dishes. These can double to wash dish rags, just use your dish soap to wash the dish rags. Hang them up on the clothesline. IF you forget the rain fly, a tarp can work in a pinch. DON'T forget the rain fly! Two camp stoves are better than one! Trust me on this! Bring a small table to act as a "kitchen" so that if you're at a campground that has picnic tables, the picnic table can be your dining table. There are camping tables and camp kitchen table setups you can purchase. Or, better yet, show Jonah a picture of a folding camp kitchen table and see what he can come up with. You'll cherish whatever he builds for years to come. :)

Camping is fun but be prepared. We grew up camping as much as possible so I'm a well seasoned camper. First thing you need to do is check your area for water runoff areas so you don't end up in a wet tent. A tarp for under the tent to help keep the tent dry inside. Roll up bedding in the morning and away from the side of the tent specially if it's raining. Absolutelt no food inside the tent! It draws animals. Lock it in a car at night or hang it in a tree in a dry bag. Keep cooking simple until you have gotten use to camping. Over the years we learned how to pretty much cook anything in our old cook kit. First aid kit is a must. A length of rope to hang wet stuff on and a tarp to cover the table for shade and incase of rain. We use to have a few sheets of plastic and cloths pins to help close in the sides of the tarp to keep rain out lol. We were a family of 7 so you learn fast what works and what doesn't. Oh and no shoes in the tent! Good luck and have fun lol

you should do a badminton court but plan on expanding gardens and clearing more but planting a couple of orchards as well as making more paddocks - think about a vinyard in very back of property - dig some sloughs and plant grapes - get wifi monitoring and cams - maybe you can do some irrigation during dry spells - grow a few varieties - grapes can get out of control with plenty of trellis space - also think hops - also needs big trellis support system but once you get it going - good for buffer areas on property.fenced off - you couldd get several tons of grapes from an acre

one acre can make 2000 bottle of wine which is 20k- startup costs of 2-4k (or 10k)- you might clear 3k after taxes - do a 2nd acre and make it profitable - vines and plants can hit prime in just a few years and last for decades - you can make clones of plants that do the best - if you keep planting you will ramp quick in 4-5 yrs

Camping hints: 1) Get an outfit for your older kids (their own small tents and gear, packs) and have them pack everything for themselves. There will be that one trip someone forgets their sleeping bag or mattress....... but they never forget again! 2) make a master gear list with boxes to check off when things are done {or several; one for personal items and clothes, one for kitchen and food, one for sleeping, one for fun stuff -and emergency gear - misc}, 3) assign a list for each family member. Once you have these lists, set up you will never have to do them again. Make them on the computer and save them. 4) remember it all comes down to 4 things; FOOD, SHELTER, WARM (FIRE), WATER. Less is more when camping with kids. My kids are now grown and regularly go into the backcountry and I have never worried because they know how to pack and how to survive.

Where I live in the California high desert edge between mountain foothills and desert floor, summers are 90⁰F+ to 115⁰F+, hot, hot, hot, but evenings cool to the 70⁰sF, and it's nice when the breeze comes up about 4 pm through the evening, and night if we're lucky. The breezes cool off the house with couple of windows open. I don't have AC. Winters drop to single digits, sometimes negative, and we get some rain, snow if we're lucky. Usual temps in winter are in 20's, 30's, and lower with strong winds . Always a wind, sometimes mild, sometimes strong with gusts that can run into 60 mph or higher.

I understand, Jonah, I'm not big on the bee pollen either, but I take it along with cod liver oil, and a mix of vitamins and minerals daily because, for some reason, I'm always chronically low on potassium and a few others. Been eating organic as much as possible since it's just me, and I found a minimally processed organic yogurt from Strauss Farms, an organic dairy processor in Petaluma, Ca, now being carried in my local market. Think I'm single handedly supporting them carrying this product as I enjoy it every morning with blue or black berries. What a joy, that slightly sour tang is the ultimate flavor and no sugar or sugar substitute or any other added junk at all, just the fermented milk yogurt. On rare ocassion I will put in a light drizzle of raw honey. Yum!! Its a more European style so it's a bit more runny,, not solid like other products sold as yogurt.. The market is supposed to carry their butter and Greek yogurt as well, but haven't found those in the store yet. You all inspire this 76 year old lady! Thank you!

kettle bell on tile? You guys are brave :) If your serious about family camping, keep it all in totes, get duplicates if you have too. Then its just pack your food and adjust your clothes and hit the road. GRAB N GO.

As a family that camps it’s not about what you have it’s about doing things together. Bring a cast iron skillet or two and have fun cooking over a fire.

When we were young and my brother got into trouble(bad trouble) my parents got us all (6kids) involved in boy scouts(was the 70s). We camped most weekends with all the camping and jamberies. The best thing to make it easier and more enjoyable was the 'camping box'. It was a smallish crate that my dad put shelves and doors in that mama organized to carry all the camp kitchen in, there was even a bracketed spot on the side for a camp stove. 🏕 that put in the ground work for the other pre-set boxes and bags that we use on the regular. Of course my mama was 2nd gen military brat and my dad was retired Navy, so. Have fun. Oh yeah, the box also had legs that we set up with it so it was counter height.

we used to camp all the time make sure the bathroom and showers are as close as you can and get a power and water if its in a campsite if not and its anywhere out in the wilds make sure you have enough water or by a river/creek so bathing or cleaning dishes doesnt use up your drinking water hugsssss

When you go camping take really good food to cook. Steaks, shrimp, Burgers etc Take a lot of your veggies. Stir fry is the best camping meal for me. Also take a battery pack and a small DVD player for movie night or if it is raining. Check weather conditions of campsite before you go. Most of all if you love coffee bring your best and in the morning around a campfire it will taste like a million bucks. You will love this. 👍

Family camping is the best. The memories for your children is the best gift you can give them. Water shoes for all members of the family. You don't know who has left behind a hook in the water to be stepped on while children are swimming. Yes it's one more thing to bring.

you need more aggressive clearing and road making but more paddocks also - you should plant some trees too or maybe many - the best roi - apples, peaches, pecans, chestnuts, persimmons, cherries, pears
