SOLD My Best Cow to Newbies & Taught Them How to Get Started
Phyllis - our family milk cow - is getting older and only has two functioning teats. We're replacing her with a younger cow who can produce more milk but Phyllis isn't ready for retirement. She would be a great milk cow for a small family who is looking for their first cow.

I shed some tears seeing Phyllis leaving the farm. Such a gentle soul. Though I am very happy that she has gone to a farm and family who will appreciate her. Thank you for showing the clip that Phyllis has settled down., she looks happy, though I wonder if she wont feel lonely.

I'm sure she will at first. But once her new family works with her and Loves on her, she will come along. 🙏 ♥️
Very cool that Phyllis is going to still be milking and not in the freezer. Excellent middle ground ❤️

Seeing Phylis leave was bittersweet. I remember all the times Jonah rode her from the milking stanchion back to the pasture. I know he shed tears seeing her go. A great cow for a new family.
Thank you for adding that clip from Matt and Katelyn! I'm proud of you guys and Phyllis made it to a great family!

That is awesome that you passed on the cow but to know she is now on another farm must be a great feeling to know she’s giving her milk to another family thanks again for sharing!!
Goodbye Phyllis it's been nice seeing you on the farm this long..
This is one of the best vlogs you have put out in a while. Seeing Phyllis go was sad! However, seeing the kids dig, Henry in the boots, the cooking, and the renovation work was awesome! Are you going to extend your deck? Good job new owners! So happy to see you starting on your new cow owning adventure!
I loved seeing you play with the baby. Made me cry. Your a good dad and it's so refreshing to watch
With your new moat you'll need to change the name of the place from Holler House to Castle de Rhodes. I don't claim to be an arborist, but when I transplant a growing tree I always chop off at least half of the leaves so the roots won't have so much to try and feed.
never thought i would be so invested in someone's milk cow on the internet on the other side of the world. YAY Phyllis, gonna miss you babe! love from down under mates.
I share the grief you all felt. I have been watching your channel since you got her. I'm glad It looks like she has gone to a wonderful farm and family. I do hope she will get some herd friends soon/eventually.
Aww Phyllis! I remember when it was just Flossy and Phyllis (and Stud) I've been watching yall for over 6 years now so this tugs on my heart strings 💕
I'm so happy Phyllis is sticking around. She seems to be a sweet cow.
Seeing her go was sad but I'm glad she's going some where to help a family learn
So cute seeing Phyllis in her new home. Loved that you featured another farm. Have you thought about doing a weekend clips show of bits from members of the Abundance+ community to highlight the cool things members are doing on their own farms?

got so happy seeing the clips from the new owners, they seemed like they did an amazing job already
Will miss seeing Phyllis! Glad to see her doing good with new family! No more riding for Jonah!💜💜
What a GREAT ending to the Vlog!!❤️ Love that young family learning with Aunt Phyllis. Thank You for inviting us into your Homesteading journey. Love you guys!!
I am just so proud of Phyllis' new owners! You did so well!
So glad you included the follow up on Phyllis and her new home!
Love they sent you a clip of phyllis! I think everyone won here!
Phyllis looks happy at the new place!
From such an amazing foundation 🙂 Justin Rhoades you and Rebecca have created and given your children and so many others so much to build upon. Congratulations 👏🎉
No disrespect, but through your channel i want to to inquire about Art & Bri family. Wonder how they are doing.. Hope they are good and safe 🙏🏻🙏🏻.

We see glimpses of them on this channel from time to time; more often the kids than the parents, but they seem to be doing ok. From the Harken Home email I just got, Art and his brothers have been going through something recently, so that's likely contributing to their silence on their channel.

I bet Phyllis has it good in her new home, always seen her as a gently soul just happy.
The outside of your cellar wall ought to be painted with tar to be waterproofed.
Just an FYI... I had friends in middle school, that were boys, that used to love to dig tunnels in the dirt and one day it caved in on them and three died. Two dug themselves out but by the time they did that and went to get help, the other three were gone. It wasn't much of a top load, but the dirt was wet and took their oxygen. Just thought I'd mention that. My boys did the same but after losing friends I never let them use dirt as a roof. They had to come up with something else. Sorry if I'm out of line.

I was thinking the same thing, when I saw this. Soil can collapse very quickly and cause suffocation. The area that is dug out around the house, is very dangerous as well.

It isn't just roofs that can cave in. Without side support the whole hole is capable of caving in.
Lovely that Phyllis found such a lovely new home
Loved the longer vlog! I think you found Phyllis a great home, they will learn so much from having her and it looks like they will take great care of her....but I bet its pretty sad to see her go.
Rebekah... I heard you say raspberries... I have mine next to the house and it's wonderful to be able to go out in the morning and pick fresh berries for breakfast. But I warn you... They are invasive... Learn to prune and control them early for at least two reasons... First, if they grow too thick you can't reach all the berries... Second, your harvest will improve if you control the airflow between vines. Remember plants have two jobs... First to grow and survive, second to reproduce for the future. Oh... And they need daily water during berry producing time... The rest of the time just regular watering. Good luck... I'm moving mine a little farther away from the house so I can increase my growing area... I live fresh berries but I also love to put them up in the freezer for smoothies and such. Good luck!
What a great video- must say my heart was with your “Beautiful one “ when the trailer pulled away with Phyllis and then seeing the clip at the end of her in her new home-such a lovely couple to live her next life with. Your kiddos on the dirt heaps-such beautiful memories made. Yeppers dirt will be brought in tho it can’t go with you in the end and the kiddos will. Such a healthy child hood. Thank you for a heart filling share. And Henry kicking off his boots and running/so stinkin hilarious The boys digging their “shelter”, brings back memories of my boys doing that back in the day and now showing their kiddos how much fun shovels and creativity can be-again thank you
Doing a hard prune on the persimmon might make it more likely for it to survive.

Agreed - the top needs to be cut back to about same size as the root mass that survived to go in the ground. Also, moving during hot summer weather is hard. To help it, you could spritz the top with water 2- 3 times a day, and tent or stake up some partial-shade cloth to break direct sun at midday/afternoon for at least a month.

@@nagasvoice8895 Yes to all that. :) i might also dump the odd bucket of seaweed or fish emulsion on it in between making sure it doesn't dry out.
Awesome job to the new owners. Give yourself grace and stick with it!
Awww that made me tear up! She’s been in your family for so long..I remember your dad” Boots” standing with you while you milked in the barn.
Such a lovely thing you are doing by sending the cow off and training them a little bit... Many blessings on family and Farm..Amen
So good to see that Phyllis has a good home!
You ve got another Mr Brown on your hands!!
Glad your old cow is going to another family so they can be more engaged in nature and producing their own food. Started my carnivore diet journey this week so we shall see how that goes. Great video thanks 👍🏼👍🏼🇦🇺
I'd say the new family's doing most excellent!! Love Mr Henry's growth, just soo cute
Wow how wonderful Phyllis got a new home. Have a wonderful day.
🐮 Good luck to Phyllis with her new people 🤗 Sad to see her go. Looks like she’s gone to a nice place with nice people!!
Gonna miss Miss Phyllis! But she’ll be loved and she’s such a beautiful cow! Cows are so special!
Loved seeing the newbies milking successfully etc 🤗👍 thank you for adding that footage!

That word margin is speaking to me. It is completing a thought from the Father. I work full time in a NICU as a nurse, have 11 acres and it will be the key to this next lesson He is leading me into. Keep trying keep working it out.
Perfect cow for a starter family!!! Smart for you to go for efficiency too! Win win.
Glad Phyllis is going to a good home. She is the perfect beginner cow.
Three cheers for little Henry! He did try those boots but heck barefoot is a better way to get around! :) Love this little guy! Phyllis made it safe to her new home,,, I'm sure the new owners will give her all the care and love she's used to. Great video! Great variety! :)
Cool to see the newbies successfully handling the cow!
Awww. So nice! Such a kind display to encourage another on their first go, fresh start. 👏 She will probably miss him, but in time, it will get easier on her, she will adjust. Animals experience emotions and connection to their human, owners. It seems they will keep in touch. What a nice gesture! 🤗
So happy for that family who have Phyllis! Great job getting set up and learning to milk! You will be pros in no time. It gives me hope that I can learn to milk one day. :)
Bye bye sweet Phyllis! 🥰 Cheers to your new home!
Staying organized definitely helps make life move a lot smoother
Greg Judy buys regular tires for his 4 wheeler and fills them with something so they don’t get punctured by honey locust tree thorns. Perhaps you could do that for the mobile sheep pen tires
don't be so hard on yourself about organizing. you have kiddos 'helping' you and it's not just your mess to clean up ;)
Since the root ball wasn't big prune the plant back so it's not struggling to feed the limbs
Cows learn to be patient about the same time as you learn to speed up and it always seems to work out in the end.
My husband is an electrician and his truck looks just like that too. Lol he’s very proud!
Justin....as I was looking at an Israeli rest his head on the western wall to be close to God, I thought of you saying...your cathedral time was when you rested your head on Phyllis...my heart goes out to you and I just want to say, I too have a time I rest my head on my Father for two hours each morning and I would not trade that for anything...I keep it interesting as God has opened my eyes...to new and exciting mysteries. I pray the new owner will know this special time you had and how blessed it is. So proud of you to share her...to a beautiful family!
Congrats new owners! You’ll get it
Happy trails Phyllis! Good luck to the new family!
Love watching always - great family, hard workers and you guys just keep at it! Truly a beautiful way of life. Also love seeing your health improve! Such a difference from your videos a year ago. ❤️ May the Lord continue to bless you, your family, your land and the work of your hands.
Flossie will do just fine. Thanks for the update on her.
Getting the barn organised cand changing the way its done will slowly take time even stock taking of your materials. A most enjoyable post with the others. I cant wait to see the outer renovations.
Digging a moat around the house for that extra level of home security. 😉🤣
God bless you Phyllis. You’ve been a joy to watch over the last few hard years and would have inspired many people to get back to basics. And I am so happy you didn’t go to freezer camp. Phew.

I like that Henry is in with the BIG kids, and not on the porch.
My dad has been saying that "wish in one hand" bit as far back as I can remember. By the way, I now am aware of the possibility of buying an older cow from someone who is more concerned about production rates. How long will a cow produce milk? How old do they live?
Lil Henry is a proper homestead baby the way he shock off those boots. I'll admit my eyes got a bit moist when Phyllis was disappearing down the road. It's still incredible to me how much you are still growing your farm and yourselves. When I grow up I want to be like Rebekah and Justin.
Good milk for cheese then feed the whey to the pigs. I hope they will be happy with Phyllis and Phyllis is happy with them.
So nice to see the family on vlog and that it was longer
I love watching the kids play outside the way l grew up! They don't realize it now, but the best days of there life! No doubt they will grow up begin great kids who knows the meaning of hard work 🙂 And will have video to show it.lol
