Wondered if I needed an entire cistern!! Thank you for you expertise 👍
Thanks for a clear informative video. I managed to fix problem after watching it and saved some money removing the need to call a plumber.
Thanks mate saved me calling up my dodgy landlord, my toilet was a little different, I had to screw off the silver flusher, lift up the marble lid, then the circular thing I has to screw off as the clips wouldn't un do, then I just pulled it out gave it a clean screwed it back on and presto, thank you geezer you got me feeling like a pro, thanks man I appreciate it 💪🏽
Your video is the clearest for me to understand how the complicated modern flush system works! Great video!👍

Fantastic ☺️
Excellent video, clear and concise
Thank you, your advice has fixed my toilet late on a Saturday night 👍
As usual a very helpful guide and helped me get a simple job done. If I could help though by saying isolate the cistern and flush it before starting the work and when the procedure is done, before turning water back on, clean as much of the debris still in the bottom of the cistern and there should then be a long time before this happens again. Also look at which direction the small/big flush buttons are and install them the same way, a little mistake here. Great help though, many thanks.
Thanks so clearly spoken and will hopefully fix it tomorrow after playing tennis Thanks once again

Good clear video. thanks for sharing.
Just wanted to say a big thank you chap. Had the cover from one of those toilet cleaning tabs stuck on the rim of the outlet where the washer is suppose to sit and seal the hole after you flush. Water trickling out constantly down the back of the toilet pan. Watched this video and 20 minutes later jobs done. Thanks!

fix my toilet by watching your video. Bundle of thanks😊
Amazing amazing! Bit of a elimination game for me. Changed the bottom entry fill valve with the float bit on but was still dripping. Took the flush mechanism off like your video and the seal has turned to mush and now i have black rotten rubber all over ha. Ordering new seal now. The wife will be pleased
Thank you for this, saved me a call out!!
Very useful video, I have this very issue with what looks like the very same flush unit. However! I seem to have made my problem worse… the seal does look like it has deteriorated slightly, although not too bad, and when I put it all back together the running water was a bit worse, Guess I need a new seal, but how do I know what to get? Cheers!
Fixed what seemed would be an expensive problem for free, in minutes, thanks to your video 👍 subscribed

If the water was rising above the overflow and into the toilet you said it could possibly be a fill valve issue, how can this be fixed. Any help greatly appreciated.

Simple easy advice. Subscribed & shared. One thing, could there be close ups of where tools go etc. Also when you removed the flush buttons your arm blocked the shot, would have benefitted from seeing it. Minor things. Great advice and will share!

So I managed to do this for 2 out of my 3 toilets, but the last one still trickles and the seal looks fine. Looks slightly different to the one in the video as I don’t have an overflow pipe sticking up like that and also mine is a twist-off type so slightly different. Any advice?
Cheers been bugging me this one 👍
Hi, can u help? the toilet on my floor keeps getting blocked! there is a vertical right angle connector on the waste pipe which the toilet on the floor above feeds into. sometimes if u flush the toilet upstairs it fills our one up with crap. I told the caretaker there shouldn't be a right angle on the pipe because the toilet drains into it first before going down so it kills the flushing effect but he won't listen. I 've tried toilet unblocking gel to no avail and washing up liquid n hot water etc. I have now ordered a plumbers snake to give that a go. Any other suggestions? I think the bad pipework is the source of the problem!
When I have it working again I cannot get the screw back in as well getting the holes for the push button realeases lined up. There is too much movement taking it out of alignment. Any ideas?
I have a leaver flush handle and ballcock system. When I lift the ballcock up it stops the water running but when I let go it goes back to it's normal position and the water continues. How would I be able to fix it?
really helpful...👍👍👍

My cistern here in Ireland takes for ever to fill up. Is there a way to speed this up? I might be impatient, because I used to live in Germany where we have pressurised water, but when cleaning I really need to wait until I can flush the toilet again.

You could check to make sure the stop tap in your property is almost fully opened. You don't want it all the way open in case it seizes up and you need leeway both rotations to free it up again. Check any isolation valves are fully opened. Sediment or a filter might be blocking or restricting the filling mechanism. It's worth draining toilet tank after isolating it and check.

@@JohnSmith-ox7xc Happy New Year! Thank you so much for your help! I will check it. Thank you!
I changed new seal, still leaking, I am wondering the rubber seal of the bottom part inside the pan because when I got it out to change the seal of flush unit. It is loose . How I can change to rubber seal and tighten up?

I have been doing research non stop on this during the past month. Absolutely new models, different brands, all straight from the shop........ leaked. The mechanism is inherently flawed and will always leak if you test it. A subtle hardly noticeable continuous leak. Go with an old style siphon mechanism. New tech isn't necessarily better.
I'm having the same issue but I don't think it's the same like yours. The buttons stay down after pressing it to flush. Sometimes I have to press it again to get the button to come back up to stop the water. This only happens now and then. What would be the issue? Thanks.
@TheDIYGuy1

There's a few things that can cause a sticking flush button. It can be that the cistern is filling too quickly. However it's more than likely that you'll need to replace the button mechanism or flush valve itself.

iv got this issue also, its a right pain, i ttied turning the isolation valve down abit to reduce water pressure to the cistern but it still does it so i think my flush valve is goosed
But how do you replace the seal?
Just wondered how this could be done on a concealed cistern?
I tried to do that, but when I turn the valve off water leaks out from underneath it. And the toilet will keep refilling, even with the valve turned off.
Why does the running water stop when you re-press the flush button?
“Really simple fix” - Proceeds to perform brain surgery on the toilet.
What happens if the water is still filling up
My unit has no clips to release. Fluid master.
I opened my cistern today by unscrewing the flush button, but what I saw horrified me. There's some sort of growth on the seals or bolts on the sides, and I just ran out of there screaming like a little girl. I hate to admit that I'm also a built 40-year old male 😭

Those isolation valves are cheap and nasty. They ALWAYS leak. Best turning the water off somewhere else than use that screw.
