Hi Leah, I'm a first-time retired female viewer living alone. I selected your video from the ones I searched for by typing "how to fix a running toilet" because your's was the shortest. I'm so glad I did. My toilet just started running earlier today and once I made the "adjustment" you demonstrate in this video, it stopped. Magic! Thank you, so much. I have already subscribed to your channel because I know you just saved me at least a $99 plumber house call fee.

Sadly, it didn't work for me. But, I think it's a different issue because jiggling handle doesn't stop it. It SOUNDS like water is running and when I turn the valve off, I don't hear the sound but I don't SEE water running either. Very odd!! I also took the cap off and cleaned it, that didn't work either. Oh well :(

I have never done anything with toilet repairs. After I watched the video I got a screwdriver and went to work. My toilet is more modern and has a knob that you turn. I turned it to the left, like you would a screw and it worked. My husband has dementia and I am having to do things myself. I am so proud of myself. Thank you

Reminder to viewers who are new to fixing things- The water in the tank is clean water so don’t worry about getting your hands in there, the stuff at the bottom or brownish reddish stuff is just discoloration from minerals in the water. As Leah says, you CAN do this! Be careful to put the tank cover down in a safe place so it will not get broken & you won’t accidentally trip on it. I usually set it in the bathtub while I work on the tank.

Hi Leah, I want to let you know as a recently divorced woman living alone with my youngest daugther your video saved me. My toilet was running for days and then refused to flush and it was late into the night and I did not want to spend 100s of pounds I did not have to call out a plumber. Some of the videos on here were long and complicated and needed a technical fix in order to solve this issue. Your video was just right for a lone woman on her own who needed a quick fix for this issue. Thank you for getting to the point and solving the issue in under 5 minutes. I have saved your video for future reference and I am now a subscriber. Please keep up the good work for ladies like me! 😊

My DEAR Leah, I had a leaky toilet which I "fixed", now for over a YEAR, I often have to flush twice or it clogs, etc. (details omitted) Thanks to you, I no longer debate on getting a new one, and this one works well. My water level was only about an inch low upon refill and believe it or not, that was the problem. You are VERY correct that it is only a SLIGHT adjustment! Maybe a quarter turn if that. It is now to the proper water height and works like a charm. THANKS Darlin'! "Clockwise is higher, counter clockwise is lower. I did NOT know.

Maybe less than a 1/4 turn, I kept the lid off until it flush and filled at consistently the proper level.

I just found your channel today and I am so GRATEFUL. I noticed the water constantly running this morning and I switched off the water until my husband had a chance to look at it. Well for giggles I looked it up on you tube and found you and I instantly subscribed. Thank you for presenting this information in an easy to follow fashion. I appreciate it!

My toilet tank wasn't filling so I checked on KZread and watched a video that suggested the problem was either with the seal at the bottom of the tank (the flapper) or the fill valve. I happend to see your video listed under "Related" and clicked on it. I decided that, before buying new parts or, more likely, calling a plumber, I would try tightening/loosening the fill valve's adjustment screw. Guess what? It worked! You saved me at least $50 in parts or hundreds for a plumber (I know zero about plumbing)! Thank you!

Search red maroon toilet. This youtuber flushes toilets to see which one has the best flush. Some toilets have a good bowl cleaning action and some will miss spots as the water rushes down. Some older ones have better bowl cleaning action than the new ones. Standards cadet, I believe could be one of the better new ones, from reviews. Altho standard has some lemons. Gerber has good ones and lemons. Reading viewer comments has been helpful.

worseto1 It’s like RoseMarie H. said, sometimes you have to replace a little piece inside the mechanism, but that’s it. A whole toilet replacement is only needed if the bowl is broken, the older the toilet the better the flush. Greetings from Belgium 🇧🇪. Have a wonderful time. Blessings to you and yours.
