    I've caught some of my best bass on plastic worms. 7" in black/chartreuse, black/blue fleck, or purple. I've found dark colors work in the murky waters that just about every pond has in my state. Sometimes I simply use plain jigheads, but in the especially weedy ponds, I'll use a Texas Rig. Given the shallow ponds I fish in, I don't need to use anything heavier than 1/4 oz.

    Dinks and mondos on the big worm! I've been throwing a weightless big worm at the pond next to my house. The snot/gunk grass in that pond is out of control and even a single weight would pull in so much of it. It's slow but it works. Great video. Yesterday morning after the top water died the wind kicked up and we tried spinnerbaits / chatterbaits with the 15 mph winds. Nothing worked until we switched to dead sticking weightless soft plastics even in the wind. I picked up some 12 inch worms to try for the deeper parts of the pond / lake I fish. Been catching fish when I go but all in that 1lb - 1.5lb range on jigs and soft plastics shallow cover. Im gonna try upsizing to the big worm and casting deep.

    I am obviously late to the party since this is an old video but I want to try the large shakey heads this year. One thing I didnt notice in the video Tyler is what size shakey head do you recommend. There are 4 sizes of the recommended buckeye jig. If I was to get only 1 or maybe 2 what size? Thanks for your input and keep the great videos coming!

    Could you prob make a vid on like 5 to 6 rods and reels I need to start tournament fishing because I signed up to be on the fishing team for school. I already have 3 rods a 6’6 med heavy Berkeley lightning with shimano Slx dc, lews laser tx5 6’10 medium heavy, and then a 7ft medium spinning rod and reel. I need to figure out if I need more or less like sell one or something like that and then get a new one

    I’m not a deep water angler but I throw my 10.5 inch worm in the shallow water and do real good! I want to get comfortable in deep water soon! Now it’s hard for me to throw a creature bait cause I have so much confidence in the big worm!

    Tyler.. What are your thoughts on big/bigger worms when it comes to small mouth? Outside of the obvious smaller mouth, and for the most part how they tend to prefer finesse, I’ve caught smallies on sone pretty sizable crankbaits, so just curious how often you use big worms for smallies….

  • @joshferrell898
    @joshferrell8982 жыл бұрын

    I believe the sound of the curly tail worm is what triggers bass, we all know that different speeds cause different sounds so you can manipulate baits like a curly tail worm to make different sounds until you find what works

    Hey Tyler, not sure if you’ve done a video like this or not, but could you do one over soft plastics that you find to be extremely versatile? For instance, a bait that you feel could be used for deep, middle, top water columns. It would be super beneficial to me and I’m sure others that don’t have the money to spend on tons of rods and/or baits.
