    Seriously?! hands behind the back of the head? feet crossed? number one: if the person exercising is tired, the hands on that position will simply force the neck up, originating a kyphotic posture. The hands should be lying on the chest and the person should always be looking up towards the ceiling. number two: if you cross your feet while doing this exercise (keep in mind i'm not calling this a reverse crunch), your waist will be slightly deviated (won't rest completely flat on the floor, leaning towards one of the sides). Never cross your feet while doing these.. number three: THIS IS NOT A REVERSE CRUNCH. As some have pointed out, in the reverse crunch only the legs come up, not the torso. In a reverse crunch, the arms should be fully extended to the side of the torso with the palms on the floor. wow...

    Indeed my friend. I find really really incredible a video this bad has more than 1 million views. Wow, so much damage. To be honest, there're many variants for the exercise (for example it's not mandatory to have the arms on your side) but this video is wrong in so many ways...to all the unfortunate that happened to see this video, check this: stronglifts.com/the-reverse-crunch-get-your-six-pack-abs/ and after reading find some video or image that shows how to properly do it.

    To be fair, tired or not, its possible to do the exercise without pulling on your neck... Its called control... When I first started doing this exercise I was kinda doing that when raising up, and it wasn't even because I was tired... I have trained myself not to do that, and do not do it even when tired... Thanks for the clearance on the whole reverse crunch thing though... I was struggling to understand just how/what made this a reverse crunch. What you say about a reverse crunch being, when you raise your legs only makes perfect sense... On the app that I have they call these reverse crunches, and the actual reverse crunches leg raises... They're hard, I hate them, they're one of my worse nightmares

    This is not a reverse crunch. In a reverse crunch your upper back does not leave the floor, you just pull your knees towards your chest. This movement in the video is a combination of a standard crunch and reverse crunch.

  • @BadMannerKorea

    Regular crunches have your feet flat on the ground, and you raise your head 6 inches. With regular crunches you only move your head and shoulders, while reverse crunches is when you take your knees to your head, while moving your head to them. There's some variation in reverse crunches, some people only move your legs to your head, some people do it like you see in the above video.

    I can't believe this is posted by LiveStrong.com - until now, I thought they were a reputable authority in health and fitness. This is not a reverse crunch. In a reverse crunch, the upper body stays flat on the ground, and the legs begin from a raised, 90-degree angle position. From there, contract the lower abdominal muscles and raise the legs (still in a 90-degree position) slightly toward the head. You can think of it as lifting your butt off the mat while bringing your legs a little closer to the head. Lower and repeat. It's a small, but effective, motion.

    @d4mnitsn4m122 Try other ab exercises :) Like hanging knee lift/leg raises or the lying versions of those 2 :)

    not a reverse crunch but close... these are closer to v ups or v crushes... reverse crushes are all leg and back based no up body... while regular crushes are all upper body and back based...

    The neck can only hurt if you're pulling on it or contracting the muscles there. Your head, neck and arms are completely out of the equation with ab exercises. Only your abs should contract, and as a result your upper body will move along. Try doing crunches with your arms crossed in front of you to get the hang of it.

    whats better to lose belly fat? crunches or reverse crunches?

  • @jsharpham
    @jsharpham13 жыл бұрын

    @justbeauty01 Either, it's all about how much energy you burn compared to the calories you take in. Your best bet is to start exercising in the most fun way you can think of (sports, walking the dog, jogging, swimming, running around with kids, whatever). You should then look at your diet and think about all the things your parents probably told you as a kid eat lots of veggies, a small amount lean meat, limit fats and a small amount of healthy whole grains.

    Это невозможно. Спину попросту невозможу согнуть при поднятых ногах.
