    Hey, I've got a 2.3 whipple and I'm doing this mod. Do you know how much vac hose you used when you did it over? And what sizes? Trying to order everything I need, and I want to do it how you did and retain the factory system without modifying what I take off. I see what you did and it just looks like what, 1/4" gates hose with some adapters? Can you give me an idea of what I need? Thanks!

    I was wondering if you know about this question . But I took my 03 cobra for smog and was told to drive the car 70-80 miles on the freeway to reset about 600 miles later no reset. I was sent to the smog referee and checked my car and sent me to a star smog repair station and was told every thing look good to drive the car 45- 60 mph on the freeway no breaks . After 8-10 drives they sent me to the dealer the dealer says the car is fine but not setting the sensers sends me back to star smog . Star Smog repair station . They tell me they don't know what to do I'm going on my 3 rd month no tags I paid for them but Dmv won't release because no smog . Please help if you know what to do about this! • @lencac7952

    The sensor that you didn't what is was is the DPFE sensor (dynamic pressure feedback sensor). Using the two hoses you pulled off the EGR tube, the DPFE sensor senses the pressure differential between the two hoses. Then it is tuned into a voltage by use of a piezoelectric sensor. You do realize the EGR valve is there to prevent engine detonation on tip-in on moderate throttle. Anything over about 75% throttle the EGR is closed. So what did you do about the ECM generating DTC's and turning the yellow check engine light on?

  • @JaegerWrenching

    I don’t know why you think I removed it, it’s just a video showing you how to. Therefor I don’t have any check engine lights, but say you theoretically removed it for racing you could just get a tune and remove those yellow lights. Your tune should also adjust timing to account for the potential knock.

    @@JaegerWrenching I thought that because I see the EGR block-off plate installed on your VMP blower. So there's always that. I did kinda figured you had to be utilizing some kind of aftermarket tuning software for the PCM. I was for 30 years a Ford certified driveability technician. Check engine lights was my bread and butter. At the dealership EGR problems were quite common. So of course I was a bit curious. But I watched your video because I just bought a cherry 03 Merc Marauder and I'm trying to see what blower set-ups will fit under the hood. Nevertheless, interesting video. Have a great day (-:

The cars computer actually tells which emission systems are green lighted and working ok. Before you take out the EGR system remember you may need it to pass! You can just simply unplug the vacuum line to it and it will be off until you need it..

    no catch can setup huh you must be new to cobras catch can is a must to help with Blow by and many other things such as keeping oil out of intake Runners valves and everything else a lot cleaner and a lot crisper

  • @JaegerWrenching

    @JaegerWrenching

    The factory PCV setup is used for a reason, most people overlook it or don't know. So here ya go! You only need a catch can on a car that makes decent power, roughly 500hp and under no need for one. If you have bad blow by and your ring gap is small or "tight" You have bad piston rings or something catastrophic going on which you need to fix. Or if you can't afford it and want to "get by" that's when you'd use a catch can to combat oil in the intake. Most cars i see with oil in the intake making close to stock power have bad PCV systems/PCV valves. Typically factory ring specs are tight and don't require catch cans as there is little blow by or nothing a small PCV system can't handle. My engine is in great shape piston ring wise! that's also why it made 508 on a non ported blower! Also after removing the blower several times i have verified very little oil gets into my intake/lower manifold, even at my power level! Almost none! In my case it's better to suck all the corrosive vapors and moister, "that can cause other issues" out of the engine/crankcase, through the pcv system into the intake and burning them sending them out the tail pipe. Catch cans typically don't connect back to the intake in order to suck out these vapors, but in recent years the catchcan manufactures have started understanding PCV systems as i stated above and are now essentially a "go between system" on the PCV lines so they catch oil and sucks vapors! Win win! Having oil get into your intake and into your engines causes knocking because oil burns at a low cylinder pressure, causing early engine failure. SO to sum it all up if you have a built engine with a big ring gap which allows you to make more power you will inherently have more blowby and a catchcan will be of use to you. If you have a bad PCV system on a stock engine, have bad piston rings, or are making more power than stock to which cylinder combustion pressure is so high it naturally seeps past the rings you can use a catchcan! I hope this helps with understanding why i did it the way i did and you get to learn something new!

    JaegerWrenching so it's better to have oil in your intake manifold intake track on the cylinder heads your intake valves get gunked up I really don't think it matters how much power you're making Blow by will happene at a certain degree on any engine but to each his own

    JaegerWrenching I just bought a set of 9 thread DB casting heads and I can clearly see all the oil in the intake tract from Blow by and I guarantee with a catch can that intake runner would have been a whole lot cleaner just saying

  • @JaegerWrenching

    @JaegerWrenching

    6 жыл бұрын

    It goes back to engine condition, i know it's hard to believe when you see dirty intake runners but you have to understand bad/worn rings create blowby. Blowby is part of the combustion gasses going past the rings. engines in good shape have very little blowby. You can also get oil from old valve seals letting oil by that a catchcan cannot catch. Also direct injection cars have carbon coated intake valves and runners after 15k miles because there's no fuel to clean the back of the intake valves.
