Video 1/3 how to pull the engine on a 03/04 Cobra. Very similar process on all 1994-2004 Mustangs.. and even similar on other Mustangs. Once you get the supercharger system off its virtually the same on all 94-04 Mustangs.

    Don Johnson yes. As far as the engine being damaged, a lean protection module like the AEM wideband failsafe I have on my personal cobra would have cut the ignition

    Ruben Ramirez that's a resistor for the cooling fan. It plugs into the resistor and that's it. I don't know if it broke free or if it's been modified

  • @dannyjohnsonsgarage

    Yeah. Piston #7 lost compression due to either a lean condition or not enough octane. We'll tear it apart this week hopefully to see what it needs. Maybe just .20 over and new pistons.

    Hey Danny wondering if you can give me some advice. I put a stroker kit on my 99 cobra and as exciting as it is nodding a car, i forgot how expensive it is. So I dont know what needs to be done to the heads or if its necessary but if you can help me out on the main things to upgrade I would really appreciate it. I put a 10 to 1 compression and bore .030 over kit

  • @dannyjohnsonsgarage

    @dannyjohnsonsgarage

    4 жыл бұрын

    Garcia Parra The stroker kit shouldn’t effect it too much, but the compression ratio at 10:1 may be a concern since the pistons will be pretty much flat top and not dished. If you get cams you may have some clearance issues. At this point a good engine builder will be able to steer you in a better direction than I can. That will be a high compression ratio, so make sure to run high octane for boost/ conservative ignition timing

    @@dannyjohnsonsgarage Ok because I was planning on going boost but might have to delay that for a couple months sadly. Is there something I can do to drive it in the meantime? Last start there was a ticking coming from the top of driver side head which raised some concerns . Figured maybe I had to upgrade the top as well or not necessary?

    Garcia Parra That may be the common “head tick” caused from loose valve seats. If that’s what it is it hasn’t been known to cause any problems, just be annoying. When the engine is apart you’ll need to have the heads taken to a machine shops and have new (brass?) valve seats pressed in

  • @dannyjohnsonsgarage

    Dustin Cook It’s possible someone installed the head cooling mod that connects the back of the cylinder heads. It’s also possible it’s coming from the heater core lines that go into the firewall on the passenger side

    The fuel pre-ignited and chipped a piston, so oil gets past the rings and blows smoke. Sad part is the car could handle far more power, it was a fuel issue (not enough fuel from either an alternator failure so the pumps didn't supply fuel or from the octane of the fuel being too low).
