Negative. If it's registered through an app (like mine is) it isn't that simple. It shows no information like was show in the video.

@@Zarrick Hi, its been a little while now, I remember I also contacted Nintendo and they also helped me determine how to remove the Parental Controls. You may want to give them a call for added assist. They need some type of verification to show that you're an adult / over 18 to remove that lock / new owner. If I recall correctly I had to use a debit / credit card and pay something like $0.50 for the service to remove the Parental lock - clever gimmick to determine age and identity (and for Nintendo to score some free bucks).

@@conorobrien5446 I forgot to reply to this post sooner. I called the number at the end of the video after I failed the Parent Lock. It then gives you a code. The partial automated call asks for the Unit's Number (barcode at the bottom of the Switch). Once you give the info, you ask for an operator. Once you get ahold of a human, they give you a master key after you give them the lockout code. Mark (the guy I talked to) strongly advised a factory reset and update.. Once I unlocked the Switch, I reset the unit. I then downloaded the latest version for the Switch. I removed the previous account and added my own. It's been working fine since. Hope that helped. 👍

1:06 Update: you need to lock yourself out by entering a bad password 6 times and THEN click the plus sign and the serial number and and inquiry number will appear so that info can be relayed to Nintendo for them to generate a master key. The rest of the information in the video will work.

Hey for anyone having trouble just enter an incorrect pin 6 times and the pin should pop up when you press help afterwards. Worked for me.

Good way of dealing with the parental controls

Once I get to "parental controls" in the settings, I don't have the same options as you. When I first went in there, I either had to choose that I had the app installed or I didn't on my phone. I installed the app. Now I only have the option to sync with the app or to unregister the app. Please help! I am a parent and just want to time hop in animal crossing. The parental controls don't allow changing the time other than the time zone.

Will any of this information be shown to the previous owner as well? Like will they receive updates or email notifications that I'm doing this? I don't want the people I bought this from knowing my email address or name, or even address since I had to put my address in.

Thanks for the help! I am from Argentina. I bought a console to fix it and it had parental controls. My Nintendo account is from the USA and I was asked to pay u$s0.5 to verify that I was an adult. Thank you for the great video, It has allowed me to over come one hurdle but I have another...I dont know that you will ever read and respond but I thought it was worth the effort I have a switch that I am passing down to my younger son and I had parental controls on it and have his profile as "supervised" that I managed thru the smartphone app, recently he tried to add a friend but could not because of the restriction and I wanted to remove that status from his profile but it keeps asking for a password/pin that i have set a couple years ago and have since forgotten, I have watched a mound of videoas trying to figure this out an have been unsuccessful Is there any way i can over ride this feature without doing a factory reset on the system and causing my son to loose all the work he has into Fortnite? ) i am not a gamer by any means, Please help!

Just followed this step by step....it doesn't work. As soon as you go to the Nintendo page and click on 'this self service page' you get redirected to another page saying that your account isn't linked to a Switch and then sends you round in a massive link loop. You probably got the old device. You gota find it in the settings. Although the enquiry number is 21 numbers on the ol device. Trying to delete my son's pin, but can't figure it out with the ol device

when you remove parental controls do the parents get notified

So I bought a Switch Oled (used) from a mayor chain in Sweden. VERY fast delivery (Less than 24h) Then I pick it up, didnt need to unpack, since they sent it in the original box, did not even bother to seal said box, and find my new Switch inside... With parental controls enabled.

I have one I bought off of ebay which has a user account on it and a parental control lock. I can confirm it is impossible to factory reset, even using the power+vol+ and vol - methof. It askes for the parental lock pin.
