When the gearbox rheostat is failing you usually get a bouncy needle on the clock, or the needle seems unstable due to a bad signal. These are tested at the manufacturers prior to fitting in the cars. Get out and enjoy the rat mobile now that you have put so much work into it.

I have to vote for the RR as better than your friend's MG. There is a lot of love and time put into the RR, and so many stories came out of it. For your next series, I'd quite like a little scooter or Vespa. A much smaller project that you could tackle in 4-6 months. I'm sure it is tough to get motivation to dive into another huge 2 year project so soon after the RR, so maybe a small one would be not too bad.

2 years of following you on this journey. What a result and it’s the knowledge you’ve built up over the years as helped to diagnose that bad transistor. Well done and farewell Ratty!!

What a shame it’s all come to an end, I have really enjoyed watching the series, and you have inspired myself and many others to get in deep with a project. All there is to say is thank you Vince and on with the next one now 😊

Congratulations on a massive job well done. In this final episode I was surprised to hear that the car passed its MoT with such a wildly inaccurate speedo. And yet they seem concerned about how it is illuminated! Come to think of it, I don't know if it's checked under the New South Wales equivalent of an MoT, the "Pink Slip" examination, we have to endure each year.

Vince the speedo writeup says it uses an LC oscillator, the capacitor probably gone out of spec causing the the oscillator to drift in frequency, so you’ve compensated for the drift I reckon.

Do a video driving along the A4069, It is widely regarded as the best driving road in Wales. The road includes five of the most memorable miles you can drive in any country. This route has become very popular since it was featured on Top Gear back in 2011 and is also known as the 'Top Gear road' after Jeremy Clarkson was filmed driving an AMG SLK Mercedes.

The shutdown pin at 41:53 is active low so shutdown would happen if it were at 0 volts. A bad or intermittent voltage level on this pin could cause the camera not to work reliably.

What a journey. I must say I have enjoyed this series from start to finish. I did have my doubts along the way if it would be a step to far but all credit to you for sticking with it. The interior and the Dash look amazing now they are all lit up. A really excellent video series. Now, what's next? can't wait.

Like many other, I do like the idea of a Mini. But for something else, maybe a Ford Capri? Parts are going to be fairly cheap and plentiful, Not so much the actual car itself, but if you look around, there may be a candidate or two in your budget. And easy to sell on afterwards.

So what's happening with the car ... Are you keeping it ? Are you getting it resprayed or leaving it ? As I thought you was just spraying it to drive to mot .. if your happy with it tho ! Looks fantastic and must be a real joy to work on a car. I think you need to at least give us some ideas what you would like as a project and maybe we vote 😀 . Massive respect Vince x

I reckon it could be the capacitors. I'd recap with good brand caps whilst it's apart. Use a gps app to calibrate slightly over to be on the safe side. Very possible to get a ticket doing 33 in a 30. Don't forget that 70mph might actually be 80 and enough to get a ticket also.

Well sir, you are truly an inspiration. I've done some pretty courageous repairs on my old beetle, but man, watching you go into a speedometer and successfully fix it was astonishing. I hope you and the rat royce enjoy many well earned miles together. I'm going to miss the series.

My ex GF had lent me an old Alienware monitor that quit when I was using it. Surely nothing I did caused it to quit, it was fairly old, but I felt bad none the less. Same thing, just dead, no power light, nothing. I did take it apart and check for any fuses, but didn't see any obvious ones, but I didn't check anything on the power supply. You just gave me some really good things to ck, thanks so much!! Great video!!
