    Also you didn’t include the absolute most important aspect which is getting a big diaphragmatic breath into your gut and bracing your core hard, and you get much more air into your stomach when you take your breath standing up versus when you grip the barbell, makes such a huge difference

    @@rus2thes0uL There's no real more details to bring to it. The fact of holding your breath this way will simply make your core more tight and so more strong. It provide a higher strength repartition and less chance of lower back injury. Make the "same" effect as a belt if your prefer. When using the belt you also should try to do this , trying to "push" your belly against the belt during the lift.

  • @petethegreek8933

    @petethegreek8933

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@rus2thes0uL at the top of the deadlift before you determine your grip, you need to fill your stomach with air. You first need to learn how to breathe properly, most people breathe into their chest but for this you need to breathe into your stomach. Learn how to do that. Once you know how, take a big breath of air into your stomach and hold it, then flex your core hard, now deadlift. At first you might feel like your getting blue in the face but after practicing this you get used to it also it helps you quicken your deadlift set up once you have that down as well. Its very important to do this because that is what is supporting your lower back. Think of your body as a pop can. Before you open it, the sides are rigid and strong; but once you open it you can easily crush it. That is the same with your body when it comes to deadlifting and squatting. You must maintain internal pressure. Once you get this down you might be thinking well I can’t just hold my breathe forever what to i do? If you must take a breath the safest way is to take a breath at the top of the deadlift, or as i do, i do full stop deadlifts, so after every rep the bar comes to a complete stop on the floor, at which point i stand back up, take a big breath again, and then proceed to do another rep. If you are lifting heavy you absolutely must do this in my opinion. Touch and go deadlifts don’t carry over well to your one rep max, larry wheels just talked about that in one of his recent deadlift videos.

    Thanks for the suggestion with sticking out your chest and driving your shoulders to the hips. This is a great way to ensure my back stays neutral rather than trying to exaggerate curving my spine. One other suggestion I have is to hold your breath and contract your abs before you lift to tighten up the midsection to help protect the back.

    Absolutely incredible. I have to say, my back has been stiff and painful for about a month, but this video offered such quality information in such a short time it's almost incredible. I have watched upwards of 3 hours on guides on how to properly deadlift, but to no avail. My form was still horrible. This short 60 sec.> video has fixed it all. Incredible, you are a good teacher. Would love such a short and educative video on barbell back squats, and Romanian deadlifts as well. Thank you, you may have just saved me from a life of spine injury.
