It was suprising to know you used just regular copy paper! With the bleeding and thing. The only paper I found that could handle markers and never bleed was rendr, its abit up there in prices (I think $12? For their medium sized sketchbook) but I found any paper that doesn't bleed after the 20th time of going over the layers is pretty worth it.

Hydrangeyes I think it really depends on the technique that you are using. With his method you actually want the colors to bleed so he actually can use printer paper :3

I actually think he was using card stock. If you look at when he holds it up (I dunno the time stamp) it’s quite stiff. card stock still bleeds like printer paper, but won’t tear as easily. It’s also cheep. For five bucks you can get 300 sheets. Of course, I could be completely wrong. But I have used card stock with my markers and it works really well. I highly recommend it.

  • @karuno9721

Well on the package it is saying that it is printer paper "perfekt für den Druck von Text und Grafik". Which means "perfect for printing text and grafics" and another big thing is that literally the Heading is saying Papier 90g and well 90g is really just a little bit thicker than cheap printer paper, [80g]. But yeah I heard that the Hammermill Cardstock should be really good. Edit: If you are talking about the paper at 6:18 then it is actually watercolor paper, cardstock is much much smoother than the paper he showed there.

An update from my previous comment - I actually went to the shops today and bought a pack of 500 sheets of printer paper for $4 AUD. That’s very cheap for that much paper. And when I tried it out, it worked surprisingly well. The ink didn’t bleed through the paper as much as I thought it would. Of course it does bleed a little bit since its just ordinary printer paper, but it’s still pretty easy to work with. The colours blend together so much easier. With blending card I had to work harder with the blending, with printer paper it only takes a few strokes for it to work as I want it to. Now I’ll be saving so much money!

Many people don’t know this, but my mom who was a fashion designer taught me how to use copic colorless blenders. Don’t use the blenders on top, instead start with it. Use it all over the area and then while it is still wet, layer the colors on top of it.

Oh man, this is so great. I tend to do the majority of my art digitally, but when I doodle in my sketchbook (for fun, practice and experimentation), markers and colored pencils are my favorites to work with. It used to be watercolors on top of outliners, but over time I kept gravitating to markers. I'm at a point where I'm considering investing into alcohol markers, or if I find out that water based ones can make nice gentle shading effects too, I'll get all the ZIGs ever xD (I love those). But, just, wow. I never realized how smoooth and beautiful marker art can look like! This is so great, I'm so excited!!!

Great! I use a different brand of markers but I learned quite a few things here. Again! Qua paper: at the moment I deliberately choose paper that bleeds a lot. Your copic technique and end results are really breathtaking ! But If have to say that printer paper and marker paper are not the only 2 options for copic and alcohol markers works. For lots of blending and layering I suggest Bristol paper or Manga paper (like the Deleter BK). They are thicker and smoother than printer paper and because they are less porous they prevent bleeding (so wayyy less cleanup involved ). I also love to mix colored pencils with copics.
