    The interesting thing about playing against an "Amateur" player is the factor of unpredictability, even if you're tuned in to normal betting patterns they can still really surprise you. Sometimes even the most experienced players can get sloppy on an educated guess and end up wrong on the read and pay for it. Just another thing I love about this game.

    I literally started to learn holdem after printing your writings at your blog, and then reading them for a few times in the early 2000’s - which I enjoyed pretty much. Even if it was ages ago according to the evolution of poker, what remained is your own, unique style and personality. Did your methods improve? Very much likely! Did you manage to still be on top? Without any question. What remained in the meantime is you as a person who shares his ideas in an unselfish, irreplaceable way. Because of it, you still, undoubtedly have my respect.

    Tbh against 88, AJ has 44% equity and in that pot you need to realize at least 56%, so it was a good fold regardless.

  • @rybiryj

    @rybiryj

    Жыл бұрын

    That 56% number seems wrong. I think with this bet and pot sizes, you need 102 / (102 + 182) = 36% equity to break even, so calling would be profitable

    Playing people I don't know and just regular players it really makes all these strategies not as powerful though they can still be valuable to know. You just have to play strong hands and not be so predictable and passive. I could see folding pocket Aces being a good move depending on the bet size cause no pocket pair is guaranteed to win and it limits your outs to 2 cards usually. It's all about having balance and getting lucky

To me those sound like good cards if I'm only facing one other player because you could pair your ace, draw a straight, or draw a flush... but is it because the paired Ace is just too weak or something that makes this a bad move?

  • @mochiman100

    @mochiman100

    I’m not the beat either so take this with a grain of salt, but he said the dude “5-bet” with an A5, which is really not that good when you consider how many other raises there are in the hand already. Your opponents that are raising probably have much stronger hands than you and could even just have an ace with a better kicker. Or just have kings, queens, etc. So 5-betting A5 is really not advisable. I’m not sure what the odds are of winning but probably not very good against those ranges.

    15:23 wouldn't it be 102k to win 284k? Very close but I still like the fold. Also check your Twitter DM about tournament structure I'm sure you'll like.

    Love your Video's Daniel. Thank you. As an aside... I wish they could block out the noise of every player at the table shuffling chips the entire time.

    Based on the table talk I'm surprised you folded honestly. It's a call for that price generally but with him even being willing to say a couple sentences generally that's enough to rule out the aces like you did. If you rule that out not sure how you decided on fold. You aren't doing bad enough vs the other hands. You got the AK/AQ combos that have you 3 to 1 that you block and then the pairs that have you 70/30. I understand that you rarely think you're actually ahead but having 32 in with 102 more to play I just don't think you you can fold for so few combos having you in serious trouble. I think its a whole other conversation if the bet is even something like 125 more.
