It always feels like the biggest gap in play between me and pros is not being able to fold good hands. Seeing players infinitely better than me having the same troubles sometimes, makes me wanna become better however. I think the best thing about your videos is exactly that, not only through other people's hands, but through introspection do you make me want to study harder! If anybody deserves this luck, it's definitely you. Keep it up! 💯

@@AnarchyEnsues Your thought pattern automatically makes you a fish. Poker isn't 100% skill based, right or wrong decisions are not based on outcome, especially if you know the game enough to play your opponent's range, not try to read their exact hand. That would be an absolutely SICK laydown though. I see what Negreanu means when he breaks it down, but no one can seriously blame him for going all in there, and I think if the roles were reversed, Negreanu would also call/go all-in.

I think most people would call that, it’d be an absolute hero lay down to fold it and if you’re playing anyone out of the blind position 99% of the time you’re gonna be confident with the 3rd nuts
@johnmaynard3463
Жыл бұрын
Yeah no chance Dnegs has ever folded in this scenario before. The chance that your opponent is trying to value bet 5s/4s full over a flush...even though that would be a bad move...is enough to be +ev. He also loves to say "what bluffs do I have in this spot" all the time...but completely ignores the fact that he...and many other pros...have bluffed with complete air by just telling a story thousands of times. He loves to pretend he would never do that...but we've watched him do it in the paat.
@VanCough

I don't think he claimed it even implied he wouldn't have called. And he did preface that no one can blame Kenny from calling there. All he is trying to say is that if you really analyze DNeg's range and his tendencies here, they would point to him having you beat. But he's not claiming he would've been able to pull off this analysis on the spot (he only does so in retrospect)

It's very welcome and very much appreciated. Good luck.
You are my favorite player. Your reads are scary and your table attitude is solid, no BS, no gimmicks. Also like that you speak the truth to whoever spouts their "facts". Mad respect for Kenney taking that hit like a pro.
congraculations daniel!! your play in that tournament was like a masterpiece keep it going brother!!!
Glad to see this hand breakdown. I think 55, especially with 5s, is a hand you could show up with here. 5s excludes the straight flush and is more likely than 33 to call on the flop. Is it enough to call and risk busting out? Maybe not, but there's at least one plausible hand he can beat.

Does A3, 44, or nut flush ever call the 3bet jam (at a pro table, ofc)? How many combos of those does Bryn have that play like this? Difficult to say that 55 should be 3bet jam. I probably would at my table but that's not the same spot and I'm also bad.
I love and appreciate Dnegs for these videos. It's awesome to get this type of insight from a legend of the game
Bryn took that better than most. I lost same way in the Venetian $800 a month ago. Had KK against 44. Flopped a K running 44..Pretty sick but in poker anything and everything happens. Daniel is the best and who I try and emulate my game as I try to get better each day

Once again, another fantastic and very insightful video to help me with my studies Professor Daniel! I must say, its funny to see Bryn Kenney's hand and vocal expressions when you put him all in, sensing that you could have him beat. I know very well I'd have difficulty laying down aces full considering how strong it is, despite it being the third nuts in this spot. That board had massive range advantage in your favor being the big blind, and I appreciate what you tell us that goes on in your mind. "9:90 to 1 shot" Absolutely incredible man. Don’t know if you’ll ever see this or not. Negreanu, I been following your gameplay for years. Studied your books too, Plus your masterclass. I wanted to personally say I thank you for this. I have learned everything from you, this was no fluke cash. I killed it. Only one time did a guy pull a fast one on me, we both showed too. Every god dam trick in your books made me win this shit. Also got 258/705 on day 1B today. You’re the best and I thank you for everything man, from one Canadian to another I wish you some serious wins this year! Can’t wait to see it on poker go!
Thank you for coolering the witch craft frog poison guy lol
Man, the depth of knowledge and explaining it is fascinating…this is why I’m not a pro…among other reasons lol
Really good point here about the game theoretic optimal algorithms sometimes spitting out a bad play that would be obviously bad to an observant human. In any spot, there is potentially way more information at play than simply how players have played their cards, which the algorithms don't yet account for.
That was a great hand sir! Thanks for sharing your thoughts of it!
Love to see it Daniel!
This kind of feels like the Cliff Josephy WSOP final table hand, the set over set (22 vs 33). Where the way Vayo was playing, he’s _never_ showing up with any bluffs there. He always has Josephy beat when taking that line. But at the same time, it’s just too ridiculous of a fold to make in the moment.
Seems like some hands play themselves. I have watched enough of Daniel's play and seen so many sick beats go against him he deserves runners:)

Hello Daniel! I'd like to add a point about the Aces full not beating any value hand. You justify that you would not move all-in with 55 or any lesser full house. But given his play on the flop and turn, wouldn't it be likely for him to hold some slowplayed Kx of spades, that he would raise on the river trying to value your lesser flushes? In that case, wouldn't raising him, say with 55 and 44, be profitable, given how little he had left? Thanks for the content and I hope to read an answer, to learn ever more from you :)

"Twitter can be Toxic!" - Daniel Negreanu (and literally EVERYONE ELSE who has ever used Twitter)😂
Daniel, this is a perfect analysis on your part. In a world of humans, it was a fold. In a world of gto bots, not. I've played poker for about 60 years, and adore it as the most complex game in the universe (when played with humans), even more so than chess, or the exquisite Japanese game go. I've only got one question, which is typical of people as ancient as I. What happened that all hands are now referred to as "The". He's got "The" aces.... she's got "The" 67 of hearts". It's so weird to hear this added article of speech that adds nothing to the description. If by chance you have the power to change this back to "She's got Kings".... or, "He's got a (not THE) a king high flush', it'd be great. All the best to you, and I've never forgotten Steve Danneman's mantra in the '05 series where he said, essentially, as he studied for the event, 'folding--obviously, he meant incorrectly-- is a small mistake'. I believe you, as well as some of the greats, reasonably could have laid down aces full. All the best to you.
Hello Daniel. Big fan, nice breakdown! What could the opponent have done differently before river to get out of that situation? I mean, could a sizable 3-bet on the turn would have got you away? Is that a correct move, to get out opponents that might be looking for 4th spade, as their triple aces still lose to flush?

Not here. Daniel could already have a straight on the flop, and even a flush by the turn. He had to try to minimise the pot and divine what Daniel actually has. Real question is the river, where both got the nuts.
