I have never done any sort of break work ever. After watching this video, I gained the confidence and knowledge I needed, and just finished replacing the rear rotors and pads on my wifes Town & Country. Thank you for this very helpful video. Cheers!

I'm going to save the listeners that $64. You don't need the caliper compression kit. What you need is a prybar with an angled end. Before you remove the caliper, use the prybar to get between the old rotor and pad, and very gently, but consistently, push the pad and caliper piston back into the bore. Alternatively, after you remove the caliper, take the old inboard pad (it'll have a circular witness mark from the caliper piston on the backside of the pad), and use a 6" C-clamp to push in the caliper piston. Notes: First, this method will not work if you have an integrated parking brake in the caliper. If you have an integrated caliper with the parking brake cable going to the caliper, you'll need to screw back in the caliper piston. The tools -- C-clamp and prybar set -- will run you around $6 for the C-clamp at Harbor Freight, and roughly $20 from Advance Auto. Either way, still cheaper than renting a tool kit for $64.

Great video I did this to my 2008 grand caravan but used a a nut and bolt through the caliper bracket bolt holes a just turned the bolt till the rotor came off nice and easy but all in all you did a great job

If it takes that kind of force to move the piston just replace the caliper. i bought a 2004 Dodge Grand Caravan. Both front calipers were partially frozen. I just decided to change all calipers, rotors and pads. The brakes are the most crucial safety items on any vehicle. Peace of mind is worth the cost of replacing brake parts that you don't know the history. Always paint the bracket holder and caliper with good caliper paint to stop the corrosion.

Thanks for the great video. I was wondering if you should do any maintenance on your rear e-brakes while you're at it? Also on my brade pads there were a riveted piece of metal about 1/2 inch by 3/4" sticking out on 2 brake pads, just was wondering where those go and what they're for. Did not see those on the pads you used.

Those are wear indicators. Those go on the inside of the rotor (against the caliper piston). What wear indicators do is when you have 5 or less millimeters of pad thickness left, they rub against the rotor and "squeal" to let you know the pads need replacing.

Does the type of grease matter ?

So theres no e brake shoes on the rear of the town and country??

Hey can shed some lite on my situation......the rear rotors are hot so they are working because no pulsating when i am driving only when I apply the brakes and only in the rear and if the rear rotors are working and have new pads what could the problem???

That's why you should just hammer the stuck rotor off. It will break free with enough of a beating. That looked dangerous with the puller.

I did try whacking it with an 8 lb hammer, with no results.. It wouldn't budge. In hindsight, I should've put a lug nut on before using the puller tool...Thanks !

Never showed how you removed the rotor. Thats what i wanted to see. Disappointing!

10:43 thru 14:57 I show removing the rotor...Put a couple of lug nuts on so the rotor doesn’t fly off.
