How to celebrate Beltane || Traditions and customs for Mayday
I know that I say this each time, but I really do love this particular sabbat the best, perhaps it is because of my childhood which this video shows a lot of the customs that we followed - wonderfully pagan as my mother would say.
Our village was very rural and in the 1970’s there was plenty of paganism among the community, it was part of our upbringing, part of our lives and no one questioned whether it was ‘right’, it just was. Mayday therefore has a truly special place in my heart.

Just an FYI, the actual Irish word is Bealtaine and pronounced be-all-tin-a. Beltane is the anglicization version.

We made the tether-ball pole into a May pole, used ribbons, purple, yellow, pink, blue and more. It was so much fun for all the childrenn.

wasn’t it a real whizz, we used to ask to mess up the ribbons by running round and in/out when practice had finished.
