    I would suggest removing one component at a time with HDCP turned off until you identify where the signal is being dropped. For this setup, the AV Access splitter is CRITICAL. It is the ONLY HDCP 2.2 splitter that I found that is compatible with stripping HDCP 2.2 in this setup. I would guess that it is probably your HDCP 2.2 splitter that isn't successfully completing the handshake, which is why there is no video.

    I’m assuming you can play Cold War 120hz with that HDMI splitter that removes the HDCP? Here is what I’m trying to utilize it for. Acer Z271 Monitor only gets 120 hz through display port. Acer Monitor DP > 4K DP Cable > Benfei 4K HDMI to DP Adapter > Evanlik HMDI 4K EDID > PS5. Issue is my Monitor is shutting down / black screening when I launch Cold War in Performance mode. Yes HDCP is disabled on PS5. I’m able to remote play through PS4 to a TV and Cold War is working and at 120hz. What I think is happening is the HDCP of the Nvidia driver in my monitor is still active and kicks my monitor off when 120 hz is enabled loading Cold War. Basically what is does when you have HDCP enabled on PS5. Sucks I can’t just override to disable like Radeon drivers. So hoping this splitter will disable and allow 120hz play. What you think?

  • @WheezysGaming

    @WheezysGaming

    I haven't tried that particular setup, but that said, if you have HDCP turned OFF in your PS5, it's most likely not an HDCP issue with your monitor. The black screen makes me think it's more of a technical issue either with the PS5, or with the EDID handshake with one of your components (one or more components may not be properly reporting what resolutions and refresh rates are supported by the device). The HDMI -> DP conversion could be an issue with trying to get 120hz, but I've never tried that myself. I don't think stripping HDCP is going to fix your issue, sadly. Sometimes my PS5 randomly black screens during games when it's plugged into my HDMI switch, and my Series X doesn't have that issue. So it could just be that the PS5 is still undercooked.

    I tried without the HDCP 2.2 splitter, and it didn't work. The downconverter likely doesn't perform a proper HDCP 2.2 handshake, so the splitter is needed to do that. Other than the HDCP encryption, the only real concern for supporting higher resolutions and framerates is data throughput, so if you have quality cables, and these devices don't overheat from the additional data (they shouldn't) this should continue to work for the PS5, even after updates. I can confirm that this setup CURRENTLY works on PS5. I think PS5 has only advertised a max of 4k120Hz, and future support for 8k (likely at 30 or 60Hz)

    Very true. So much hassle for people that are loyal to the platform, just to try and slow down people who aren't (which doesn't work) 🙃

    @@WheezysGaming can we bypass hdcp on ps5 just with one splitter on 1080p 60 with hdmi 2.0?

    @@KnightOFGamer22 Yes, if you only need 1080p, you have more options for equipment. This setup is specifically to support up to 4k. This one should strip HDCP at 1080p from pretty much ANY device: amzn.to/2MvwNih

    I wish there was ONE piece of equipment I could get to replace this entire setup, but sadly they have made those illegal. Such a hassle for people who just want a simple electronics setup!
