The black layer is the same material as the top layer - a Birch Plywood (grade BB/BB), we use then same high grade ply on both surfaces, mostly others will use a cheaper plywood for the under surface - it is only black as we put a black weather proof coating on that bottom layer. The top layer / riding surface on this Ramp has a clear weather proof coating on it.. This grade of Birch Ply I Nour kits is good outdoors compared to normal plywood but it is always best to add extra protection for any plywoods that will be outside.

Nice, I've just started my own 414 build myself, 3f x 12f. How long did it take in all, I'm doing mine solo..

Hi Justin - with the 3'x12' - two of our guys who have done these several times normally do that in one day, if the base is all ready a bit of a late finish but they can skate that evening.. If there is wood staining or base work then we usually go with 2 men for two days.. If you on your own and its first time then it is likely to take you 3-5 days, depending on the hours you have got for each day.. Hope it goes well. Ta Shaun

@@fouronefourskateparks1216 Thanks for the reply, I have built ramps before and the base is sorted before it arrived. I've got the first section up in a day, ie quarter of the hole thing. I am unsure about the wood staining though. I thought it all came pre done part from the surface, I've emailed Kalvis about this but the frame, ply and struts shouldn't need anything should they? Thanks.

@@justins_toys Good progress so far.. 🔨👍🏽 You can leave all the parts as they are and paint up the sides or riding surface at a later date if you want to change colour or something.. Don't treat any of the beams they are pressure treated. As with any timer outside the more protection the better, so generally we recommend using a wood treatment on the profile sides and both surfaces, its easier to do before the build but can be done at a later date. Kalvis is away for riding a comp in Germany, fire him over some pics of the build or when you got it looking sweet. Ta Shaun

@@fouronefourskateparks1216 Thanks for the info, that would explain why I've not heard back from him yet. I think I'll treat the profiles and top surfaces then. I'll be sure to send Kalvis some photos once complete! Cheers
