How to build a Skate Ramp / Quarter Half Pipe

Plans available on my Patreon page→ / adamdiy
Featured tools: Kobalt Tool Combo Kit→ low.es/2DcBeak
Kobalt Jigsaw→ low.es/2KB1hy2
All the materials are listed below. Be sure to click the link and print out the plans with measurements. The ramp you see me build in this video is 4ft wide. If you have the space available, building an 8ft wide quarterpipe is worth considering as well as a second ramp to turn it into a halfpipe.
If you end up building your own, send some pictures and let me know how it went. If you want to paint, stain or seal it; treat the wood with the same materials as you would use on a deck.
Transition & Deck Ply→ (1) 1/2" Sheathing
Sublayer Ply→ (1) 3/8" Sheathing
Surface Ply→ (1) 1/4" Sanded
2x4's→ (6) Straight with no large knots
PVC Coping → (4ft) 1-1/2" Conduit
Construction Adhesive (or use screws)→ (1) Loctite Premium Construction Adhesive
Surface & Deck Ply Screws→ (60) 1-1/2"
2x4 to 2x4 Screws→ (21) 3-1/2" exterior

Built this during quarantine with my friend, works great. Sturdy enough for 3 people to drop in at the same time. I learned rock to fakie on the ramp. Taught my friends how to drop in by putting the ramp in grass so they wouldn’t be afraid to fall. I would recommend a thin sheet of metal at the very end because the wood chipped and broke. Plus the metal makes the transition smoother.

  • @luckkibehemoth6626
    @luckkibehemoth66265 жыл бұрын

the construction adhesive method for the coping is the same reason I broke my collar bone, drill the hole and make sure they are screwed down. If you are able you can also use a washer bolt and nut to get a better fit. This also helps with removing the coping if it gets damaged. Same thing with attaching the deck. Two bolts on each side with a metal bracket will make your ramp last longer they can be found at Lowes too.

Hi , thanks so much for these videos. I just finished making 2 quarters based on your design & explanation and am having a lot of fun on them re-learning skating in my 40s with my kids. i made one at 24" with a 5'ish radius and a mellower one at 23" with a 6' ish radius. It is worth pointing out that your plans and materials specs only work for the specific ramp in the video (23" & 5' radius). For the 6' radius ramp i had to use an extra bit of ply for the transition because it's longer. The great thing is that i could make make 2 ramps from the ply that you specify by buying a few extra 2x4s and using some scrap bits of wood i had for the platform , a fantastic cheap micro halfpipe! My tip is : Take your time to get the coping levels right, makes a big difference.

@AdamDIY I literally never post you tube comments but this is dope. I've been debating building a mini ramp in my backyard so badly, i'm 22 an wanna get back into skating. As a kid the parks were far so all I did was flat an some rails(wasn't good but it was a lot of fun). I couldn't find any other good PVC info but this helped a ton thanks, metals expensive. Sorry to be pushy bro but you should do another vid on a full size mini ramp i mean it's not like you don't already have half of it LOL. Seriously though, I've been thinking about this for months. This is like probably the 20th video I've watched and every other one was on mini ramps, but this was was the best by far. And not only that you gave by far the most info thank you so much!(the list of materials in the comments is fantastic out of all the videos i think i maybe found one other that had the list makes it so much easier :D). PS just kidding don't make a whole new video for one guy but i'm happy i stumbled onto your channel I love diy thanks for the hard work!

Super easy build. Highly recommend adding some sheet metal to the bottom lip as a transition to the ground. I used a piece of 22 gauge cold steel 24”x48” attached to the bottom. Kids are ripping it up now!

Way more sturdy than we ever cobbled one together as kids. You made it justtt good enough until it wasn't and you had to add some more nails and wood 😂💕👍

Great ramp built two for the kids and I. If your 180lbs like me it’ll push back on you. Have to use it against the wall or curb.

@@HooDRidEWhiteY it turned out perfect! Making another one next payday to make a half pipe. Great size for my beginner son and my self coming back after 10 years. No need for the 3 1/2 inch screws, they are way to long unless you use them for the copping which I've done.
