I really appreciate this channel and these two amazing men specifically. I'm 27 years old, and I actually hated lifting heavy weight because I was naturally a small guy, and knew I wasn't strong at all. I'm 5'4, and had never gotten over the weight of 145lbs until very recently. I couldn't even bench 185, and struggled with my own body weight on the bench. I had tried everything!! Protein shakes, casein, muscle pills, creatine, etc. and absolutely nothing worked for me. My metabolism was just too high and fast. I loved doing calisthenics and cardio though, to keep my run time really low for I'm a U.S. Army soldier. November 1, 2018, I had surgery on my right knee (knee replacement) due to a rather near death experience that shredded every ligament in my right knee. I was bed ridden for 4 months straight, because I literally couldn't walk for that long. You can only imagine how much pain I was in, both mentally and physically, and how depressed I was, from waking up every day, running for miles at a time, swimming countless laps, playing basketball, flag football, combatives for the Army, you name it, to absolutely nothing!!! I was at the lowest I had ever been. I was already a tiny man, and now immobile. My self esteem and dignity were fuckin destroyed. Scrolling thru KZread, a video popped up from Julius Maddox lifting crazy weight, and it literally kicked started my mentality to stronger. I had my wife and best friend go to "Dicks Sporting" and buy the heaviest dumbbells they had. I started doing dumbbell presses in my bed everyday. I've always had a healthy diet, so I started getting bigger upper body wise. I was mind blown!! As soon as I was cleared from the bed, I wheellchair'ed my way to the gym with my buddy and started lifting real weight. Fast forward to today, I'm 174 lbs, bench pressing 325x1, and I've gained some strength back in my legs due to therapy, and just having the mindset of wanting to get healthy again. I really appreciate you guys for motivating me and giving me hope again!✊🏿✊🏿

Keep going strong brother! I am 55 and used to be in really good shape. I had spinal fusion surgery in 2017. It felt like I was freight trained afterwards. I have gained weight and lost strength and stamina. I don’t want to be a fat lump of clay, (I was at one time strong, solid and the stamina was at a top level). I know that I can’t wait to make a change but, I need that kick or spark back again. My self esteem like yours is in the crapper. I need to push through though. Thanks for sharing your story. Just as you are well on your way in recovery and building what you have never had before, I pray to have my own story of restoration to tell. Everything happens for a reason.🙏

Here I am thinking it would be badass to get back up to 250lbs bench. These two monsters are casually doing sets of 400+lbs. Props to Eddie on another good video and I hope Julius gets that 800lb record.

Had Julius started when he was young like most these guys did, he would probably hold the world record in Bench, Squat and Deadlift. I feel he has it in him to still do a super heavy deadlift if he starts training more for strongman comps.

That was awesome Eddie, I started following you wherever I could from your strongman days and you are a really mad inspiration to me. Last year I weighed a really fat 30st 9lb last November and now I'm 16st 2. I started at the gym last week with my son but I'm incredibly weak now. I don't know if it's my age, 54 or just weak in general. In my prime I was pressing 100kg for 6 reps and a max of 120. Now I'm struggling at 50kg 😭. I'll keep trying but doubt I'll ever get back to where I was 25 years ago. It just amazed me how much weight you shift in a way I can relate to. I've obviously never even seen an atlas stone in real life never mind tried to lift one up 😂😂👍
