@@blankblankersonCM Punk is a f*cking moron!!! He became one of the most popular figures in the history of sports-entertainment, had fans chanting his name in arenas around the world (clamoring for his triumphant return). He signs with AEW, has the opportunity to add to his ever-growing legacy...completely DESTROYS his legacy and name value, obliterates any chance he had of pleasing his adoring fans (the same people who eagerly anticipated his return), and totally crushes any chance he had of ever adding his name to the same ballot as past legends such as Steve Austin and The Rock. I came into it as a child during the mid-80s and spent the 90s following wwf around....it was always electric in the arenas, and everyone felt special somehow. These days, there are a lot of cookie-cutter ideals that are plucked and repeating and not doing a thing to innovate or invest the fans first and foremost... I wish that sometimes, the younger generation of talent would just realize less is more until the big payoff. It's so hard to come by now. I miss when facial expressions and a demeanor change could blow a roof off of an arena. Similar to that moment daniel bryan got when he turned on bray wyatt.

To be fair, the first episode drew a 1.4 because it was a new non-WWE wrestling show. People were curious. No surprise to see it drop off after that, it's actually a pretty normal thing in television. As for Tony Kahn booking the show for himself and not the fans, Vince McMahon did that for well over a decade before Triple H took over. But yes, AEW is in trouble for sure. Show attendance in the U.S. has plummeted, and Rampage and Collision's ratings keep sinking lower all the time. The only saving grace (for now) is Dynamite's ratings. Don't get me wrong, they are not good, but 800,000 every week is at least okay. It also helps that they are so consistent. Yes, even ECW on TNN in the late 90's did slightly better, but remember that there were a lot less channels on TV back then and streaming didn't exist.

Ok question for anyone in chat. I am an AEW fan but I wonder how this counts for a rating. Always DVR Dynamite. Will probally watch a few clips on KZread of part of the matches. If it looks intersting I watch it either the next day or the day after that. Does this get counted?

I do like that Vince is always very truthful. However I don’t route for anyone to fail because of everything that’s on the line as in jobs, careers, livelihoods, etc.. I really really really really do NOT want to go back to a day where it’s only WWE and some smaller indie shows all over again, and no I am not taking shots at indie shows. I like a bunch of them but the thought of having AEW completely fail and not be able to see something different each week with new faces and talent would absolutely suck. Unfortunately Tony is a mark. He’s doesn’t know wtf he’s doing with creating storylines, character development, etc.. It’s a damn shame because he has some incredible talent there. I mean whether ya care about it or not, he shits all over the women’s division which is pathetic because he has an embarrassment of riches on his roster but he clearly sees no value in them so why anyone like a Mercedes would wanna sign there outside of money is beyond me. I was told Russo was a miserable lying old man trying to stay relevant and not to bother watching him. Yeah well that was bullshit, now I’m a fan, and will be watching the majority of his content. P.S. He’s dead right about how shitty the product has become inside the ring. I mean when things like Super kicks & Canadian Destroyers mean absolutely Jack shit anymore when they’re used? It’s fkn pathetic. 🤷🏼 I hope Tony wakes up one day! If not, a lot of people are gonna lose their jobs & dreams.

The Elite themselves are proof of this. Before AEW, they had great shirt sales and their name recognition was increasing. In fact, people spitefully used to call AEW a T-Shirt company when they started for this reason (which was actually A GOOD THING). Once they handed their careers over to the mark brigade in AEW, their name recognition started to collapse because they were put in spot after spot with less focus on the storyline based show, Being The Elite, which actually played a key role in getting them over. That's where their heat with Punk really started from: Punk had built his name recog and was now benefitting heavily from that with a massive TV exposure from AEW while the Elite had wasted theirs because of mark spot monkey wrestling, just for Meltzer's approval. Of course, they were pissed. The Elite using storyline development from their NJPW days is what actually made them stars, even from a relatively obscure company outside America. Not their 5-star matches.

Trust me theres plenty that Tony is to blame for, and shooting himself in the foot over and over again is 100% true. but another thing that the past 3 years of AEW has proven to me is......there has never been LESS wrestling talent than now....esp that should be on my TV. i truly believe the damage that Vince has been able to do unbridled is set in stone. i mean they barely make new "Stars" themselves as the only game in town on American TV from whenever TNA started to truly fAll off all the way thru AEW opening up

I dont watch WWE and wanted AEW to be something and still want them to do well but what they're producing to entertain their little inner-circle and the tiny niche indy fan market is insulting to the rest of us and they've become toxic and borderline hated for that selfishness, wastefulness and sheer ineptitude.
