The thing that Meltzer and a lot of people doesnt understand is that even when Roman isn't on screen, he's there. The fear of contradicting him, the desire to follow his orders etc etc. The bloodline matches were all about not wanting to piss him off. It wasn't even about winning or losing anymore. This is a plus, not a minus. if Moxley misses an episode does it have the same effect? Heck, even when it's there it doesn't have the same effect!

I like to look it as this : Both men have the creative freedom that they needed to break out. The big difference is one put the work in (acting lessons, changing presentation etc) to actually stand out and show the industry how good he is. Where as the other just went back to his old wrestling style (death matches, bleeding nearly every match etc) and has sat in cruise control ever since.

A big problem with how Meltzer framed his justification for Moxley is that with the way WWE is structured, even if someone in WWE was wrestler of the year by every other conceivable metric, WON would have to snub them because their company makes too much money with or without any individual. When has that ever been criteria before now? He's just admitting that he's never going to advocate for a WWE guy to win it regardless of how well they do.

Truly wise word from Award Winning Jewish Co-host of the year on the Cornette show
Moxley is total butt cheeks, but Rampage being in the top 3 weekly shows is very telling how garbage these awards are.
I’m glad that from the start they point out just what these awards happen to actually be, who votes on them, and how many people actually do vote on them before they dove in to the review. That is absolutely key in this before you start any review or analysis of what the results happen to be. You see so many people on social media or in a comments section go crazy with disbelief or screaming foul when these results end up being revealed because they don’t pause to consider just what these awards fully entail and how that explains why the results happen to be what they are every year. These awards are not decided by some respected independent voting base to ever be confused as some measure of objective opinions but rather are voted on by subscribers of the newsletter and even then only those who actually decide to vote to begin with. When reviewed in proper context the results shouldn’t be a shock at all. It really shouldn’t be a big leap to recognize that people who pay to consume Dave’s opinions of wrestling are also likely to share his tastes of wrestling and who is or isn’t good. So it’s always amusing to see people hurling accusations that Dave fixes the results to what he wants them to end up being and the like. The reality is the results largely align to what Dave’s taste happens to be because the people who vote on this pay for Dave’s opinions and thus probably share similar opinions to those he has so when the votes turn out that way it really isn’t some surprise to occur. People shouldn’t be fooling themselves into believeing these to be some objective measurement of anything more than the tastes of an audience who share tastes with Dave. But seeing AEW take them so seriously will always be funny to see - obviously they’re happy to do that because Dave and his audience like their product and naturally it leads to their consistent winning of such awards when the people who vote on it prefer their show. But they mean nothing as it relates to objectivity of any kind and people should always recognize that from the start.

Demand a recount.
Wrestling observer newsletter is embarrassingly cringe and not worth airtime…..except for here 😂
The guy who openly cuts himself on camera showing you how fake all of this is won the Lou Thesz award. Dave, and his readers, are completely lost in the sauce.
I always know when there's a plug coming from Jim and I love it😂

Hands down....if kenny does indeed jump to WWE, expect Dave to do a full 180 on AEW. He will follow his boy whereever he goes.

Nah, he would just bury HHH for not putting Kenny over Brock, Cody and Roman in the Wrestlemania main event.

Every crappy newsletter would be titled, "Why Doesn't Kenny Have All The Belts, Dammit?"

@@Kr4ShSkeL Recently, and just recently, yes but ask yourself why his fanbase chose Tony for booker of the year when his booking has been a puddle of piss for a long time now. Dave may be criticizing AEW a lot more often than he did before but that doesn't excuse the way he indoctrinated his sheep into accepting his word without any well thought out criticism. And for that alone, he shouldn't be let off so lightly. The braindead mentality of his subscriber base is entirely on his head.
When's the full EP out? It's not on Spotify yet.
I’m over here jogging at the park and I’m out of breath not from jogging but from how funny this video has been!!! Corny and Brian are hilarious, but this may be the funniest video they’ve done yet!!!
It would be hilarious if Tony turns on Meltzer a la Helwani, and in response petty ol Dave goes "oh yeah, well Jericho was the one that leaked the CM Punk stuff, painted your EVPs as villains and cost you your biggest money star and your biggest public blunder!" I can dream
7:32 Does he get all his comedy from Looney Tunes? lmaoo
The observer newsletter voters are the same people who would send in video questions to kayfaybe commentaries
The U-Boot comment made me laugh out loud with Brian.
Giulia is actually a good wrestler and is over. She is someone I've kept up with.

I thought they were talking about Julia Hart.
Its a shame that the most vocal wrestling fans today also happen to be the dumbest, nerdiest, most socially inept group of marks in the entire history of pro-wrestling. And whats worse is they have insulated themselves into bubbles and convinced each other that anybody who doesn't like the same thing is just lying to be a hater or a troll... its mind numbing.
Gunther vs Sheamus not being match of the year is the stupidest shit. That match single handedly revived Sheamus and launched gunther
Having Moxley winning an award named after Lou Thesz & Ric Flair is just so wrong. It would be like giving Vince Russo an award named after Eddie Graham. MJF, Heyman, & Punk should've been top 3 in the promo category (MJF & Heyman numbers 1 & 2, either order).
That lists show only one thing and that is the only people buying the observer now it’s the 900,000 aew fans
