Tony 100% uses Total Extreme Wrestling to simulate his shows. It's actually obvious if you've played the games before because how he books conforms to how those games operate. For example, you are penalized if you use the same talent in too many segments. This means the game encourages you to only use guys in a couple segments rather than spacing an A story and B story throughout the show. The games also encourage you to 50/50 book or book angles that in real life would kill your heat.

I've been watching wrestling since 1984. I'm 44 years old. I remember when my stepfather took me to see Wrestlemania 3 on closed circut TV at the Columbus Convention Center. The event was projected live on big mobile movie screens. Though I wasn't there in first person at the Silverdome I nonetheless remember seeing Hogan slam Andre as it happened. So many cameras flashed in the Pontiac Silverdome that it looked like lighting striking. Go back at watch that match. It was a spectacle too see. Though it's only pro wrestling that moment was breath taking. AEW today can't produce the type of event WWE could in 1987. WWE has had it setback over the years, but from the day Vince McMahon took the helm it has grown expeditously. It takes one thing to see it indeed how it is and that's intellectual honesty. AEW 2023 can't hold a candle to WWE, 87, 88, 91, 2001 and on and on until til present day. WWE sets the standard. It's the big leagues. It's just the way it is.

Yeah, it blows my mind that before AEW started, we were being told that this was going to be like WCW, we’re going to get on the Tet network, it’s going to be sports based, and at the time Cody was the NWA world heavyweight champions, so there were a lot of us old-school NWA/WCW fans that may be didn’t like everyone that was being Signed, but we were willing to give it a shot…. Well, it is on the turn network and it is WCW like. It’s like WCW from the summer of 1999 until they close the door. It’s like Tony took the last two worst years of WCW and he took ECW and mix them up in a pot and thought it was going to be The dish everybody loved. Well the only one that loves it are the Indy marks who, like to see people hit with lightbulbs and go through a table and have to see a dive from a ladder every show where it’s really just a high spot fest. Why not copy the Goodyear of WCW? I’m sorry, but why would you take those the worst two years of WCW and then grab the ECW formula and think that’s going to succeeded when both companies failed doing that? I love WCW, even more than I liked WWF, but the last two years were terrible and I’m not going to pick my shots. Vince Russo is part of the reason it was terrible. Not the whole reason, but his booking did not help. I don’t think Tony is a mature enough fan to really understand the psychology of pro wrestling. If you go back to the 80s and first half of the 90s when people with ADHD aren’t being distracted by Steve Austin, drinking beer and pyrotechnic and DX and the nWo, and the rock and Inferno matches with the undertaker and stuff like that, go back and watch wrestling in the 80s and first half of the 90s because you can see the psychology in the match, the psychology of a show, and the psychology of a promo. Then you realize all that was still there in the Monday night war era, but they had all this other stuff around it like the beer drinking and the half naked women and the cursing and people flipping the bird and crotch chops, yes, all of that was there, but they still had the basic psychology. There is too. I think people like Tony and AEW fans they only saw the middle finger, the crotch chops in the Inferno matches and completely forgot about the psychology part but it’s not something they’re going to point out because that’s how they captivate you and keep you interested . Tony just takes the highlight reel and the whole show to be a highlight reel but then if you do that you’re just doing moves for the sake of doing moves . End of the day Tony needs to figure this out because at the beginning it was fine because their biggest gimmick was they weren’t WWE but now with Cody and the bloodline that’s what most of the wrestling fans are talking about and not being WWE in 2024 is not a good thing. But if he keeps trying to cater to an audience that isn’t going anywhere, no matter how good or how bad the show is, it’s never going to change and he’ll probably see the numbers get worse and worse.

You can't have the talent take their given WWE names. This is why they're geniuses for forcing talent to use their names. Because, once they're gone from the company, you can't have the talent still representing your company. Which is why exactly they should keep it this way. Ha.

And yet he has done bigger business than anyone besides WWE in 25 years . Remember Dixie Carter also had a rich daddy. AND she had these two Russo and Disco booking her shows. They had at their peak the same audience AEW has been getting on average since Dynamite started. But only maybe 1/6 (again only at their peak after several years for a short time) of that audience bought the PPV’s. No one paid to attend the shows live weekly. You could get in free with a Universal Studio’s pass. Unlike fans at Dynamite pay to get their seat. Clearly TK is doing something right because he’s been able to convince ppl to pay for more product. Something no one else has done nearly as well since WCW in the 90s.
