Don’t apologize. You said what you said and it’s not only your truth, but that of so many others. You should never have to apologize for that. People coming into YOUR comments section and vomiting out offensive, unhelpful, and _unsolicited_ advice aren’t the least bit concerned about whether or not their opinions make YOU uncomfortable so why should you apologize if hearing your lived experience makes _them_ uncomfortable? Thank you for using your platform for put a voice to exactly what I would love to say if I had one. You’re a real one, Mindy. ❤

Mindy, this is why I watch you!!! Your balanced view is a breath of fresh air. By the way, thank you for your meal plans with the Buy a Coffee subscription - I follow your meals every week and it has taken all the guesswork out for me. Lifesaver. If I could add my voice to the conversation, it’s also body image driven by fatphobia causing a lot of these issues in society with the fad/crash dieting. People are focused on looking a certain way rather than developing healthy behaviors. We need to change the narrative! I’m of the belief that different people are healthy at different weights and the BMI was never intended to be an individual health measure. Someone might look at you or me and think they know our lifestyles, but I work out with a trainer, manage stress, eat balanced meals, sleep 8 hours, don’t drink & smoke. and I happen to be a heavier weight person. I, like you, still want to lose weight - my fasting insulin and cholesterol is high. Seems like those numbers correct themselves around 190 for me. Anyone on this thread who wants a funny podcast about how diets don’t work, check out Maintenance Phase. I also like the podcast Rethinking Wellness. Thanks for the video Mindy!

One more quick thing… clean eating is a fad… ignore the peanut gallery. But if I may, I’m going to go out on a limb and say high protein is having a fad moment right now too. NOT saying protein isn’t important and I love Macro Friendly Foods too - but notice how protein is being marketed these days. Some of the protein numbers out there will basically force you to have to eat a protein bar or protein shake to get the numbers in. Not necessarily :-) Just the industry trying to sell us more products, yall!

Hey Lisa! The food industry will try to make a buck off anything. The higher protein has research behind it that I can stand behind, and I know from my own experience how much difference it's made in my hair loss. But, yes... I agree that they try to put a spin that makes you think you NEED supplements to hit your protein goals. I'm easily able to hit the 30% without protein supplements pretty much every day. (And when I do use them, it's by choice in a dessert, not a necessity) I'm so glad you're enjoying the meal plans!! ❤️

Thanks for this. I’m 69, have lost and regained 50-120 pounds multiple times. Every single time I believe it will be the last time. But I persevere. Using moderation and portion control (and eating all kinds of foods) I have (imperfectly) managed to achieve a 60 pound loss this past year. I don’t know if this really is “it” but I am ever hopeful. Keep on being open and honest. You are appreciated.

Well Done!! 👏🏻 Finally the unspoken truth comes out, I agree with you wholeheartedly! I’m 70 now and I have had the same senerio , and then when was told diabetes I still don’t get it’s I think I bc do but then they change the plan again. At least my A1C went down pretty much immediately after being on the Mounjaro. So I’ve gotten to the age , it’s just something you live your life around constantly. I hope I don’t have to take this rest of my life but it does the job I’ll be on it a year in April so though around 60 plus , I have lost and I have ridden this nasty wave to the hill and finally am back on 7.5 M it’s doing good, still side effects but not as bad 🙌🏻. Just one day at a time. Proud of you and how you’ve taken control. Best of luck and glad you’re feeling better. TY for your videos ♥️

I was already really enjoying a primo hilarious Mindy video with all the goofy stuff I love and then came the cannons. You didn’t throw the book, you threw the whole library. Amen, amen, amen! It is hard to quantify the effect you’ve had on my own journey, but I know it is significant. I’m not on the drugs (maybe someday) but I came to learn about the drugs and ended up learning something altogether different which is how to be sane and peaceful and still lose weight. I don’t know if you realize the power of what you model for us. There are a few twinkling lights out there in the darkness and this channel is one of them. Thanks for all you do. ❤🌳❤

Thank you so much for this message. I’ve been on monjaro for around 6 months now, at first I dropped what I considered a lot of weight. I went from 258 to 208, but I’ve been stuck for more than a month now at between 205 and 210. I have been so upset with myself thinking what am I doing wrong? And being very confused and frustrated. I love your videos because I feel a kindred spirit. You almost always have a message that I need to hear at just the right time. Progress not perfection!!! I have to trust the process and keep moving forward. Not give in to oh well I might as well give up. I take this medicine because of diabetic symptoms and a very high AC1 for the last 5 years or so. I’ve taken metformin and trulicity in the past but nothing has controlled my A1C like the monjuaro. So I’m very thankful for it. Oh well I’m on a rant now so I’ll end with just thank you and keep making videos.

I feel like I have been trying to lose weight for so many years, younger and as an adult, and honestly, most was VERY unhealthy and not a single one worked….including surgical (lapbad). It hasn’t been till the last couple years that I feel like I’m learning something other than “I need to lose weight”. I always heard people say “it can’t be a diet, it has to be a lifestyle change “ and “you can’t outrun a bad diet”and I never understood that but now it feels like more people are out there with this information and putting it out there for others to learn from….that there are ways to change your lifestyle that you can live with and be a much more healthy version. And, no matter what, no matter how much processed food I eat….it will ALWAYS be better for me than McDonald’s. I’m cheering you on….go get it;)

It works while you do everything at once, but It’s not a realistic thing to do every day or long term for most people. Hey, Mindy! Have you ever tried kettlebell swing ladders? I have recently learned those are frequently used to improve VO2MAX which makes everything else easier. I've noticed you don't seem to love exercise (love giggle) and I'm wondering if improving your VO2MAX would help you not hate your exercise videos. The first couple of times are absolutely awful but I've noticed that it's gotten much easier very quickly. That's what I'm using for my cardio until i lose enough weight to make my knees happy again. Love the rant. Same for me.. I've decided that I'm not going to diet. I need to change my relationship with food. I love carbs and I'm happier with them in my life. 3rd Wegovy shot will be tonight. So far I'm down 10.8 pounds including the 2 pounds i lost prior to starting it. So far so good!

Finally, I've been able to lose 115lbs and know without a doubt, I can keep it off because I've found moderation. I eat a mostly healthy diet, but if I want something, I eat it. After all those amazing feelings of success, getting to know your new body, new clothes, getting compliments, all that slows down and it’s just real life from there. It’s scary, if you ask me. I have a similar body type to yours and the goal weight my doc recommended is 170, so way off the “healthy” chart which is based on BMI, a way-over-generalized measurement. I had a body scan done to estimate my lean mass and I’m shooting for 30% body fat rather than a scale number. But we shall see, I’m feeling pretty damn good at 194 right now and maintaining through the holidays has been a big success for me.

That's amazing, Lisa! You're doing an awesome job. I have an initial goal weight of 175 and plan to just see how I look and feel once I get there. I will likely shoot for a healthy body fat percentage as well... not sure exactly where yet but I have quite a ways to go before that's a concern. ❤️

I agree with this 100%. I've lost 55 pounds in the past 1.5 years simply by eating less of what I normally eat. I progressively shrunk my meals down over time and I do try to not snack too much. Losing the weight has been slow, but I don't feel deprived.

Hey, I am getting sick of all these people telling other people how to do them. Sure, I will share info, but we each truly need a plan by us and for us to sustain it. I say this as someone r who maintained an 80 lb loss from bariatric surgery who is now in maintenance after losing around 80 more pounds on Mounjaro. Plus, there is no such thing as clean eating. Some think they have a definition, but as soon as they do a protein shake, that is out the window because it is the most processed food on the planet, if it can even be called food. I am not harping on shakes. I am just saying that is one example the clean eating folks seem to disregard. You keep doing you!

I feel like people highly underestimate the amount of research that you do on these subjects. You don’t just look at one to 34 websites you comb the Internet for as much information that you can find and go from there and make your decisions based on the information that you find. Now I know all of this because I am your best friend, but others don’t see that. So for anyone who thinks that she’s not gonna be successful after this, please consider that she’s been doing this for almost 2 years, and that she has come such a long way, from where she was not only physically but mentally and emotionally. PREACH ON SISTER.

The mug cake looks good but it was hard to follow the instructions perhaps uou could do a separate short video. I have to do low carb and fasting to lose fat, but i cycle carbs - which cycles between fat loss and maintenance phases. Glp’s change the way body processes carbs so people can lose weight eating higher carb. Its good these drugs are helping people but someone not on the glp’s will have difficulty losing fat trying to eat the way someone does on a glp. I would never do keto always again either.

For a non-diabetic without metabolic issues, pretty much the only benefit of the GLPs is the appetite and food noise suppression. It makes sticking to a caloric deficit easier, but I would still lose weight if I weren't on them... it would just be harder because I would have to rely on my own self-control to ignore the food noise.

I agree with you and I'm also sick of it. I won't talk about what I'm choosing to eat and how I lost weight with anyone any longer. I don't want to hear their advice. They either never really struggled with weight or they are still overweight themselves and going from fad to fad, avoiding food and totally psycho about their food choices. I've gone the route of eating clean and I was still fat. I wasn't healthier either. I'm done and eating what I want in moderation within my calories for the day.

Let em have it, Janet. You need to do what works for YOU!! I LOVE it when people say things like "Keto is the only thing that works for me" when they are only able to do it for a few months at a time, fall off the wagon, regain everything and then some and start all over again... I'm like... tell me how that is "working"... I just don't get it!!

I’ve gotten downvoted on Reddit about the clean-eating BS. Even the moderator chimed in and said there are foods we “shouldn’t” be eating on these meds. I call BS. It’s that whole all-or-nothing thinking that we’ve spent decades telling ourselves. Our bodies are metabolically broken and these meds are helping us eat like “normal” people can eat. And for anyone to say your diet sucks, they have to be nuts. You are eating fairly strictly as far as protein and macros (all of which I still don’t understand and I’ve lost 102 lbs). You do it how you want to do it, people are always gonna have negative opinions. Let them have restrictive diets and let’s see how long it lasts them!

You obviously have no idea how these meds work if you think they are solely responsible for my weight loss. One look at a GLP support group is proof that the only way to lose weight on these meds is to change your eating habits as I have done. I most definitely am not preaching about how YOU should eat... if you listened, I said I didn't like people preaching to me about how *I* should eat and that if it works for you, that's awesome. It just isn't for me.

The drug helps but you still have to put in a lot of work to maintain a calorie deficit. If low carb works for you, fine, but is it healthy in the long run? For instance, carnivore and keto people don't seem to care about high LDL levels. They just rationalize it away. I believe Mindy is talking about a sustainable diet that's also HEALTHY in the long run.
