Izzy was too impatient. He had everything he needed but he got greedy and had to mock the person who happened to have all the skills to beat him. Izzy was active because he was hungry for glory and it was a great run. But he failed to plan for his own downfall and how to handle it gracefully, so he got exposed and is now seen for who he truly is instead of for who he portrays. So he suffered his defeats while losing to people who were more likeable, so he didn't calculate for that and had no plan for maintaining his fanbase. At the end of the day he lost because he's an elitist who believes that being elite deserves special treatment and that the rewards will always come and never dry. He lost due to his own poor character and has shown that he doesn't have it in him to fully mature. He believed himself to be better than everyone else and it took a couple great fighters and the general fan base to remind him

Poatan deserves fighter of the year, contender for fight of the year and with out a doubt stare down of the year

Izzy didn't need to do much to entertain and get more fans: -say the opponent is not on his level but keep it respectful since "he was the only guy brave enough to step into the cage with me" or "he earned his shot but it's time to prove there are levels to this" -do a nice walkout -don't leg kick at range and 1-2 them when they walk in for 25 minutes -know who is the next in line and say you'll change their lives forever putting them in his highlight reel to be watched by millions and millions -don't get arrested for drunk driving -don't start a beef with your ex -don't talk shit online for views -DJ has a very decent youtube channel without getting into beefs Once again, as Alex said, he is very talented and should not be sitting out but the game is a lot better when he is sidelined and has to watch his opponents succeed

Y’all acting like he wasn’t champ just these year with one of the greatest epic KO we have seen. Credit to Sean he has great style to beat him. But downward spiral seems to early to claim. At the end of the day every fighter will fall off at some point so will he but it’s about dominating when you got get chance most will never do what he did should learn to respect the warriors that fight for our entertainment.

Fr that was a weird thing for him to say. Alex has clearly showed that both those things are much easier said than done. The only real grappler in contention is Ankalaev and he’s not very close to the title anymore. He also couldn’t check Jan’s kicks so he ain’t checking Alex’s.

No I do think that is easier said than done, I probs didn’t articulate that very well In the video, but grappling is the style that will ultimately nullify the calf kicks atleast most efficiently, And he’s not necessarily terrible on the ground, but he hasn’t been challenged by a straight jacket yet so we shall see

Yup, his ground game is a lot better than it used to be. I think he focused on defensive BJJ and ground defence to work his way back to his feet rather than try to submit from the back (burn all the energy he will need to knock them out in the following rounds). Justin seems to destroy legs at his class, but Alex's is the most sneaky that noone can seem to stop. It was affecting Jiri and forced him to have to continually come in and close distance to avoid them... to his detriment (not that Jiri didn't stun (not knockout, just a brief stun), as that's when he used his technique that he showed he practiced.

@Kiercho We never seen Adesanya with a “Wet Blanket” on him either!! He didn’t fight ANY great grapplers while he was Champ or before, so don’t act like he’s had it easier than Adesanya, he hasn’t! He just did it quicker and Better

Every single mma fighter who tries to build hype for there fight fall in these categories you mentioned that’s why we’re engaged. Alex was able to even carry that to grow his own fanbase due to Izzy popularity through everything you mentioned. That’s how Colby got his fan base also but now no one cares his a fan favorite forgot all the cringy lines and snaking his friends that’s why the people who actually know don’t like like him anymore. But Izzy gets criticized for damn near breathing.

As soon as I heard about this one guy that beat Adeaanya back in the day I went and watched every fight I could on Glory. What a machine, and, a class act. Something a large percentage of the UFC roster, post McGregor, could take heed of in my opinion. I yearn for the GSP and Khabib type champions, honourable, stoic men. ​@@darknessjerry7862 unfortunately the translator made his post fight speech sound way less emotional than it was. pereira said that the reason he got in the ufc in the first place was after he saw that 2020 interview (where izzy said alex would probably be at the bar saying "i've beaten this guy once" while watching him on tv). he said that izzy unknowingly saved his life, and he wanted to do the same for him, now that he's planning to stop fighting for a few years (which in pereira's opinion would be a waste of talent). while i get that it seems off him calling izzy out (especially by saying "come to daddy"), he was actually acknowledging what we all knew: that izzy made it possible for him to have this new life as an elite fighting athlete!

Jan can grapple. That's how he beat izzy. So why didn't Jan have any luck with Alex? Maybe cuz Alex is bigger and stronger than alot of the 05ers. And also. He's been training with glover with glover two years. Glover is a legend in bjj.what makes you think he doesn't have some sub game matched with his strength and the fear of those knees will keep takedown attempts to a minimum

TBH, I think a lot of champions and former champions can be rotated on a good day. Volk and Max, Islam (well... he's dominated so far, but Volk has dropped him, he can bleed) and the rest of the top 5, Alex Jiri. Tom has the power and speed, I'm sure he would give Jones a run for his money, but I think Jones will sneak away with the victory like he always has.
