📲 Our Pick Up Limes app is finally here (1-week free trial!): bit.ly/PUL_app 🎉 👀What’s your favourite plant? My current fave is the pothos: the one hanging along the back wall of the PUL kitchen 🌱 hope to turn it into a waterfall of vines one day!

You couldn't choose more suitable time for this kind of video. I'm just (almost) done renovating my room (walls so far) and I also wanna replace some pieces of furniture. I'm planning to have a few plants (ain't gonna lie, I think you were the one to inspire me to consider them) and since I didn't really use to have plants at home, I might need some tips. PS. I think my favorite plant for home would be fern 😅 (that's how my online translator translated it to English).

Pick Up Limes I just discovered your beautiful channel. Although I have a question which seems contrary to the comment: Are you trying to keep these videos under 10mins for some reason? If so, why? Oddly, I find them sort of weirdly rushed while being simultaneously relaxing. You have such a gorgeous professional production and camera presence I'm not sure why you are speaking so fast with so many rapid visual edits. It feels like you are rushing to get the video over with and leaves a slight sense of anxiety that I've got to keep up or go back to see what you've just said and done. If you slowed everything down a touch then viewers would be able to really drink the images in and absorb your commentary. In other words more of you would not be a bad thing and no shade meant, you seem to look for feedback so that's just my experience. Btw, my mom's a dietician she would love what you are doing :)

I used to work at a plant shop, and when the roots were bunched up at the edge of the soil, we cut their roots before we planted them in a bigger pot with new soil. Sometimes the roots bind themselves and struggle to get their nutrition, causing them to die. The plants love it, it's like a hair cut for them!

So true! My cats don't seem to go to plants that aren't good for them, but I have a 2yo that loves to put leaves in his mouth and even with us teaching him not to eat plants, he has that habit that's hard to break because his grandma taught him to eat certain edible leaves... And we discovered that our garden has some poisonous trees the previous owners planted. We're going to cut all of those I think...

Water bamboo is pretty easy! Just needs to be sitting in a vase/container of water. I have killed many plants in my day and still continue to do so sometimes but I'm getting better everyday! Also watch out for crown rot, some plants don't want water at the base where the leaves come together just water the soil instead. Pretty sure that's how I've killed most of my plants!

A tip: if you buy a new plant, don’t buy a bigger pot to replant, buy another pot of the same size, divide the plant and either nurse them both or use one as a gift 😊 Also I use sometimes Marmelade jars as pots. They don’t have holes, but you see how wet they are and I use coconut soil. It retains water and I don’t need to water the plants as often.

So this is weird. But I remember watching your BuJo video when I started my BuJourney in July this year. And I’ve recently become interested in plants. So I load up KZread- aka old reliable whenever I want to learn things. And absentmindedly clicked on the first video about houseplants for beginners. When your “Pick up Limes” splash screen came up I literally GASPED “oh! It’s pick up limes!” And that’s how you know you chose a great name.

Love this, Sadia! My mom has a green thumb and I grew up watching her taking care of her plant babies, and now that I’m older I also want to have my own plants but I’m too scared that I’d end up killing them with my lack of plant-care knowledge. This video came just in time. Thank you for all the tips❤️

This could be an awesome bonding opportunity with your mother too. My grandma has a green thumb and I'm going to ask her on tips of good plants to start with. Shes also pretty into the spiritual meaning and "magical" help a plant in a space can give which I find interesting. Give your mom a call if you can and see what advice she has.

I live in the Highlands of Scotland have always loved plants. Lately iv saved plants from Tesco mostly Orchids & am very proud to say they are all doing well, at the moment they are getting ready for the rest period over winter. Only a week ago I saved a plant that was nearly dead, cost me 50p. Got it home gave TLC & its growing new shoots.. I would just like to add, some plants do better if watered from below & I test if they need water by poking a long wooden chop stick down into the compost & seeing how dry / wet it is. :)

FIRST COMMENT! Love your videos ❤ When I get new house plants and decide to repot them immediately, I often take the plant out of its original pot, loosen it to untangle the roots. Works great! I read somewhere that it stimulates root growth. In addition, before I put it into its new pot, I usually put coffee filter at the bottom so soil will not seep out into the holes! 😄

I learned a LOT. IDK if I'd be able to do it all. I learned that the pots should have just enough water and not too much, I overdo that. Also that there should be holes below the pot. I am glad to know that I should not let the dead leaves get into it's soil. I thought it would be better that way, as the leaves would be forming a compost/ humus for the plant. Recycle. I think due to that I have had too many rollie pollies in my potted plants in my balcony. Apparently, they are good for the plant but not weak or baby plants; and can also cause furniture damage. And also about snapping out old leaves being better so that the plant can direct it's energy for better use. Good to learn that as well. I want to have my own herbs. Especially basil or mint as they smell so good. I have tried growing basil plant, twice, but they died when I went away for a vacation. :( And nobody cares like the same way. :/
