This figure is almost the definition of “grail”. The head just show some age if you zoom the camera very very close, otherwise it’s perfect! In the moment of the video when you shut down one of the lights and when you puted him in the flying pose...MAN! No way one can tell it’s from so many year ago. Great video! Cheers!

Few years back I made an offer to the seller for $300, the seller took my offer. It's in excellent condition. I think that's a fair price for the time.

Top quality ......... agree, as it is a multiple years old work of art...... you can't picky on the eyes. The rest on the fact is near perfection

Thanks for posting this... This is my all-time favorite... When ppl say which hottoys figure if you can only pick one? This be the one and I have so many hottoys but this was my 1 St... This is the one if I can only pick one but I would get doubles and triples of him... So funny I said the same thing... I'm only getting him ,then 89 Batman hit, I was like that's it... Then Nicholson joker came out... I was like dammit... Been hooked since. My only nitpick as great as he looks I wish the costume was made of a better material it's a snag magnet and thread always get pulled when you pose it, I feel the sideshow Superman suit is better material other than the trucks,I'm waiting for the new sideshow supes and maybe switch out the costume since it might be a better material... Also being 8 yrs old I get a new neck peg since age makes it cracked and brittle...

yeah definitely a grail, another poster mentioned a 2.0 will be nice, maybe a 2nd hwadsculpt, 2 pack with Clark kent. But this itself is a must have for me.

Hey, man! I agree with everything you said in your review. I've been holding off getting this figure for years and years, and then early this week, I saw a second-hand one for sale in great condition, at a great price, and bit the bullet and got it. No regrets whatsoever. I've gotta say, it immortalises snd captures Christopher Reeve as Superman, to absolute perfection!

@@optical20 the one I have, his costume is a light blue color, but I've noticed they seem to be selling it with a dark royal blue these days. Interestingly, the blue of his costume in the movie, seems to have become increasingly darker with each new release of superman the movie on dvd and blu ray.

Smart idea doing these retro reviews as many more people are joining the hobby all of the time. Still a great figure, one that holds its own today. That said, I would love a 2.0 or a 1/4. Why? The sculpt is fantastic, but the eyes lack the translucent effects/realism of Hot Toys efforts over the last 5 years, even their own Evil Superman has those effects : something that almost every reviewer has missed. The only other thing that I would fix on the sculpt is the nose, it needs to be more narrow around the nostrils and tip. It would need a taller body to better reflect Christopher Reeve's 6'4 frame, and be filled out more around the upper legs, as the current figure looks spindly in that area and again lacks realism. Not much needs to be done to the suit other than making it more robust, improving the quality of the S symbols, and yes, two capes would be a nice idea Optical. As for accessories, the green (all important) kryptonian crystal is a must, and a diorama featuring the crystal console/podium in the Fortress of Solitude would be great, as would a second head sculpt featuring Christopher's classic smile, or one with an expression to suggest that he is using his heat/scanning vision, or one with him crying out just after Lois has died..... A wide FOS/ or Metropolis alleyway backdrop would round things off nicely. How cool a DX19 could this be? And how about a DX20 Clark Kent? One where the figure has the Superman costume underneath his shirt.

I love your ideas, a light up diorama, or even a two pack with Clark Kent would be an instant buy for me, yeah it is near perfect but like you said there are some improvements that would benefit from today's technology. Starting with the eyes.

Someone is selling for $250 in my country. Should I get it? Been hyped with superman the past month just got JL regular version and have the 2 pack in order.

I have this exact superman figure from my gift from my dad in my first birthday and its soooo expensive!

Man I've seen him priced up to $1200.00 now. There's no way I'd give that much but people are trying to make too much off of these. I'd give $500.00. Its not just the logo on the chest you have to look out for but also the neck. That connector inside that holds the ball joint. If it's cracked then you'll either have to cut the whole torso off to replace it or maybe you can use that plastic bod stuff. It is like a solvent that melts the plastic together. Gotta be careful though or there goes your figure .

I'm checking out this exact figure (the original one) locally tomorrow. Some guy is selling for $260 equivalent (I'm in Asia). Hopefully no major issues cause that's a steal these days.
