The humility Superman shows here is remarkable. Once he enters the room it doesn't even seem like he's a God just an ordinary man tho he can wipe them all out easily, but the Senate's vibe feel like the antithesis of that. Well done Snyder.

That is one of the scenes that showed why Cavill is the best Superman after Reeve. Reeve brought humanity to Kal El yes but this scene and the scene when Superman tells Lois he loves her and that she and earth are his world prior to him sacrificing his life to stop Doomsday shows Superman's true humanity

My favourite part about this scene is superman’s entrance in the room. He could’ve flown right in and landed right in front of everyone to show his power. But instead he walks casually opens the small door gently and stands professionally. He’s showing that he views everyone as equals and not lesser beings. Very well done.

This version of Lex grew on me. At first I kinda thought he was over the top, but as I watched the Ultimate Edition seven times and each time I appreciated this version of Lex. He isn't intimating physically like the comic version. But he has his cunning and ruthlessness hidden under a silicon valley type nerd demeanor. Almost serial killer esque. And uses others to do his bidding without them knowing. Now that's truly scary.

But in the UE, so much more nuance is added, there's actual suspense and its so thick you can just FEEL that something terrible is going to happen, but you don't know what until it goes BANG. Excellent filmmaking and shows how editing can make or break a film. Same with ZSJL.

Sweet Sea if you want to see the degree of Luthor's evil watch the Superman movies with Reeve. That Lex is evil. Lex wasn't in the third movie because Hackman was disgusted with the way Alexander and Ilya Salkind treated Richard Donner but he is back in the 4th. Hackman's Lex is funny at times yes but pure evil. The scene in the first movie when he leaves Superman to drown while wearing the kryptonite necklace around his neck is pure evil when Lex laughs at Superman saying "I have to leave you now. No hard feelings we all have our little falls. Mines in California and a she walks off to leave Superman to die his lover and mistress Miss Tessmacher says with concern and fright "Lex. my mother lives in Hackensack." Lex looks at his watch and shakes his head with defiance and his way of telling her "Not anymore!" Because Lex had Miss Tessmacher and Otis reprogram the Army missile to destroy all of California by causing a massive earthquake and the Navy missile to destroy Hackensack, New Jersey. Second movie he discovers Superman's fortress of solitude and has Zod, Non and Ursa kill Superman in exchange for having Australia be his home for beach front property and in the 4th he creates a being to kill Superman based on Superman's DNA ala his hair sample called Nuclear Man. If you ask me Nuclear Man is a joke because he looked like a Chippendale Stripper and California surfer dude in one but Nuclear Man did nearly kill Superman with nuclear radiation. No not kryptonite but like Superman he got his powers from the sun but in the dark he can't function

So so so much better in the Ultimate Cut. The way the various scenes are all cut together here gives a great sense of foreboding as all these things converge (Bruce getting the returned checks, Lois trying to get Word to Superman via the Planet so that he’s not walking into a rhetorical/political trap, and even Sen. Finch now knowing the truth and being on to Lex’s game. It actually changes her character completely from a biased puppet of Luthor to a smart Senator working in good faith toward the public trust. It also sets up that Luthor is not just enacting the key part of his grand plan but tying up all loose ends since now Finch knows he’s a malicious actor and won’t stand for it.

I love Snyder, he made a realistic representation of how the world would react of Superman's existence. Unlike the Avengers, people saw the good and the bad side of Superman, even when Superman saved Metropolis. This is literally what the world would really react to superheroes' heroic deeds, both good and bad reactions

Reeve and Cavill are the best actors who played Superman. Why I said Reeve is because I grew up watching Reeve as Superman and he in many ways was a real life Superman and after his accident he made a lot of great physical progress which many people in his situation never do plus he campaigned endlessly to find a cure

The two things I don't think I'll ever be able to forgive this movie for, even though now with the extended cut I went from liking it to loving it, are the deaths of Jimmy and Mercy. "We didn't have room for them because there were already so many characters" is a crap excuse. So if that's the case don't use them much. Have them pop in during a scene here or there or just be in the background or just drop a line, but to unceremoniously kill them off.......ugh.

  • @Atro785

***** I did watch it closely and pay attention to Mercy. And I wanted to see her loser her arm and Lex give her a cybernetic replacement with a laser canon in it. Is that really too much to ask for? She's his bodyguard for crying out loud, he shouldn't be killing her. And it is a crappy excuse. Look at Jenny (who is Jimmy without actually being Jimmy). If you really REALLY don't want to use his character, regardless of how big a role he plays as Clark's (and Superman's) friend in the comics, then why can't you use him like they do Jenny or literally anyone else at the Daily Planet? Virtually not at all, but still present for the necessary scenes. Makes no sense and never will.

Indeed. I put this scene aside with the handcuffs' one in MoS. That shows humility because he still bend to human's rules. However you can spot a difference : in MoS he was happy to do so because he still had faith in humanity. But in BvS he is like "I do everything for them but their medias and people treat me like a pariah, an undesired savior. They are picky and see bad in everything and everyone".
