I don’t blame T.G. For being so hesitant to load up on that “float/trailer”. It would never pass certification or a (as we have here) a Warrant/certificate of (road) fitness here in New Zealand. It looked dodgy AF! EDIT: I am not judging this family specifically. I am shocked at the lack of legislation around safety standards for cars and trailers alike in the USA.

Trailer Safety: On a freeway, I witnessed a crappy, rusty old trailer with 2 horses blow a tire, fishtail and flip landing on its side so one horse crushed the other but also broke a leg = both died. The truck, by the way, was a big, beautiful super charge deal so these folks had money... please maintain trailers!

It was the saddest most horrible thing I ever saw. Please do a thorough safety check of your Trailer before transporting. On a positive note, a passerby saw what happened and it just so happens they bred thoughrobreds. They donated an amazing horse. 💞

I admire you all for the work you do.I’ve owned and looked after horses for over 60 years and I hope I’ve learned a thing or two over that time ,so I have a reservation. Some of the adopters are pretty heavy and their weight plus that of a heavy western saddle would be a heavy load for a horse who was fit, sound, well nourished and well muscled. These horses are none of those things and many of them are old as well.If the adopters don’t see this glaringly obvious problem what else don’t they know? It’s not enough to love your horse and think it’s pretty, you have to understand about it’s welfare and limitations. And for goodness sake use a mounting block!

As someone who is currently quite overweight myself - and all too aware of how that limits my choice of riding horse - I find that there is not nearly enough educational material on your channel to highlight the fact that a rider (+ tack) should weigh no more than 20% of the weight of the horse they are riding. This is 10% in the UK, so maybe 15% is a better goal. It doesn't matter how lovely a person is, if they are too heavy for the horse they intend to ride, they will harm it - and not realise they are doing so. This channel could help even more horses by highlighting this hugely important issue. How many well-meaning riders are not aware of this? It needs to be known, as does the fact that the condition, age, and type of the horse all need to be taken account when considering the right human-horse weight ratio. Otherwise, horses may suffer unintentional abuse. That said, you all do fabulous, compassionate, life-changing work - thank you!

I light rider can just as much ruin a horses back as a heavy rider can... I know more heavy riders who have a pretty good harmony with the movements which should be the number one goal for any rider. Nothing hurts more than seeing someone riding and you see the horse suffer every step it takes or even its breath pushed out by an unbalanced rider. But yes there of course are limits.

It also must be said that some horses with short, broad backs can carry relatively more weight without issues, while a tall, lanky, long and narrow backed horse can comfortably carry less weight relative to body weight. People are often fooled into thinking just because a horse is tall it's suitable for a heavier person. In the old days they used to breed Mounted Infantry ponies (small horses--14.3-15.1hh) that were built to carry heavy loads. And of course there are jobs for horses that don't require being ridden, eg therapy horse or driving horse.

I love the fact that the adoptors came back for the half brother. I am a strong advocate for considering the emotional health of animals. Animals are not things like a tin can or a paper bag. Treating animals as things is to abuse the animal. This side of pet ownership is often disregarded and this is when we have health issues and a failure to thrive. Both half brothers will be so much better off now that they are going to be kept together.

I started watching your videos just before Travis started, so I feel like I have been following his journey and will miss seeing him. Also gotta laugh at the Farrier come Crocodile Dundee…I think the new version of the movie ‘Horsie Dundee’ will say, ‘That’s not a big file…This IS a big file!’

Hi again! Great job you all on the successful adoption day. After working with and caring for them all it must be so wonderful when a good home works out for them! The horse Doc was commenting on with what he suspected was back problems is a prime candidate for some chiropractic and other alternatives! I personally was skeptical at first but after seeing excellent results many many times I became a believer! Think that would be a perfect addition to round out your program. Farrier still makes me smile and he does a beautiful job. Thx so much for sharing. A super vid this time! Catcha again next time.

Aww I’m in Australia but would love to adopt the ginger kitten, beginning of the year I lost my baby boy tiger he was 21 years old and I got him for a birthday present when I was 4. Tiger is currently cremated and sits in my kitchen in his favourite spot.

Way to go catching that booze bottle!!! And I loved the fast action to get to the bottom of it like everyone did. It's a great policy you have for the safety and best interests of all. Because you never know how horses can react to the smell of alcohol on someone's breath or clothing. They could have been violently abused when someone was drinking near them. This happens in dogs and cats as well. And you should never EVER drink on any job, especially construction!!! Great work everyone, hope whoever did it gets caught and at least docked. If it were my call, I would make this person give the docked pay amount to the shelter as part of their punishment. : )

There should be a weight limit of maybe 200# estimate to (go on trail rides) for the regular size horses. I feel bad for the horse when a really big person plans to ride a horse, it could be to much for the horse and cause back & leg/feet issues
