I think its really cute too :) But I would be afraid that they aren't enough prepared when getting a pet that spontaneous. A pet is a huge commitment and I see so so so many cats not getting treated right :/ Barn cats are a bit of another story tho :) They useally pretty happy without a lot of care. But home cats..

@@horseality6250Hey there!! What do you think would be helpful to ease in the transition to better prepare?? Maybe include a bag of food. Water and food bowls as well as a blanket and bed?? Or are you meaning in a different way? I believe including those things would definitely make the transition easier on the kitten as the adopter is so busy with their horse upon arriving at home that they'd barely have time to prepare and care for the kitten. Judy wondering if you have any suggestions to help with the issue at hand is all. NOT being confrontational or bitchy in any way at all

Having every potential adopter hold a kitten is a good way to adopt kittens as well as horses. It goes without saying that anyone who wouldn't hold a kitten probably shouldn't adopt a horse (or any other animal). Stella looked amazing being ridden the way she moved and held her head. I don't usually notice things like that, but she just looked elegant. I'm glad they adopted her. Yay for Oak and DeLente. They obviously are most comfortable together. Watching them walk right together it really does seem like they were totally used to doing that. DeLente wasn't too sure about the whole being ridden thing, but once he figured out what was being asked he was just like 'Ok, that's cool, we'll do this then."

In fairness, I would almost certainly refuse to hold a kitten, not because they're not cute, but because I have a pretty intrusive allergy response to them- very hard to drive when your eyes are swollen, your nose is running and you cant take any more allergy meds because you've maxxed out

Very smart lady! :) I'm hoping the adopter took one since she had her trailer with her (and he fit!) and you're sending the other? She is such a lovely lady with a gentle, kind, sweet spirit. I felt like my heart was gonna burst when I saw that little small but mighty trainer/rider hop on that huge draft, it was so courageous for her to do that, and it really helps the adoption as a riding horse is more adoptable, she knew nothing about his background and yet she was willing..and then the looks on the faces of Tawny and the others, and to see how proud the horse looked with her on his back, oh my heart ♥️ 🥰🥺what beautiful souls God puts on this earth

De Lente and Oak. Some of the most precious and rewarding experiences I’ve had in life have come from adopting elders. I really hope these two boys stay together, friends, to help each other along the way … With the size of these (Shires?) being a bit intimidating, despite their beautiful sweet natures, have adopters tried the gentle, safe, highly effective training methods of Steve Young on KZread? Great for horses, minis to giants, with or without handling issues! OMG, De Lente and Oak walking together as a team! Incredible, perhaps an answer to their stories? I LOVE it!! Wait, did I miss it? Did only De Lente go home?

I remember De lante had to have his hoof wrapped with Gorilla tape. I remember it was on Horse Plus Amazon Wish List. I watched you guys open your Amazon packages last Sumner after asking for gorilla tape. You guys got so much of it! It was awesome!

I'm in AZ, but I have a friend in Illinois. I keep telling her to look at your horses and go pick up a few for her lesson folks. I love what you all do. I'm a horse lover. Wish I could get one as a pasture pet to groom, love on and just give one a good home. Maybe someday I'll be able to.

My heart broke seeing the second showing. You can tell he's really been mistreated from his eyes, his body language and such a lowered head! Why you would want a broken spirit horse is way beyond me! They don't have to be beaten down this far to be a super great horse! They don't need to be overlorded either! You want a horse that still has their horse spirit but cocreates an relationship with you! This way that horse would do anything for you!!! Included surrendering their life to save yours!!! I get so angry when I see the condition of these earth angels and I can't have one all because I don't have the money!!!

one good thing about adopting a older horse from places like Horse Plus is the Vet side is covered so well. Couple of the less alert owners at my stabling complex have been plagued by buying horses with issues. Largely back type problems. The most recent is likely Kissing spine. But having said that they also don't do much in the way of Vet care either. They will literally go between how wonderful the horse is to its kicking and bucking. Oh what can we do..... We are like get the Vet to look at it..... They don't. Knowing the horse has issues is the main thing in the first place. You can then work towards fixing it.

I'm wondering if you and the other rescue organizations you're mentoring could do a slide show on their site, showing horses after adoption and how far they've come? Perhaps that would appease the inexperienced people who don't seem to realize the effort it takes to bring these animals back?

When I started riding draft ponies who knew gee and ha and such, it was quite impressive. And step up is usually to take just a few steps forward, in my experience at least

I'm hoping she adopted De Lente and Oak as it didn't say..but it brought a tear or two to my eyes seeing them walk next to each other like they'd been doing it for yrs..they still need to put a bit of weight on but that will come in time..I just love drafts..over here 🇬🇧 we all them Shire horses..
