The new facility vet is fantastic. I love how straightforward and thorough she is. Her acknowledgement of the horse's chronic pain is such a good thing to educate people on. Many people don't notice the subtle pain signs that horses can display. I love vets who do what is best for the animal, and won't let them sit in a field in pain. Euthanasia is often the kindest option.

Absolutely. It’s good that they take time to evaluate individual horses, donkey et Al, but then when it’s established that it’s needed, they don’t hesitate to perform that last act that is so vital in some cases. It angers me that so Many people take the cheapest and easiest way out, throwing away their former faithful friends as though they no longer matter, just at the time when they should be stepping up to the plate and giving the relief that is so important to that friend. I often wonder how they would treat human relations who are terminally y ill

Euthanasia will almost always be the best option for the animal. We spent $7000 keeping our best dog ever alive, he still died at nine. Now at the first sign of an illness that takes away their quality of life, we take them to the vet for euthanisation. My husbands fav dog went that way, my fav is now nine, showing no signs yet, but I will let her go, breaking my heart at the same time. Our other little sweetheart is a three year old Jack a Russell, she’ll outlive our usefulness. If I’m able, at the time, I’ll send her to my son in Australia, as long as he’ll come to collect her.
What a sweet guy, and his Dad, that adopted Leith and Thunder. X
Carol was so brave, I was so impressed by her trying. We should all be so brave! Good work all!

Great video as always! Really enjoy newer Vet's personality & obvious skills & gentle technique w/ both animals and people. Like her explanations very much. New foreman seems well skilled and very nice too. Agree w/ him: those big beautiful Drafts are my favorites too. The Vet Tech staff had such fun w/ Cory!! LOL! While so sad, happy to see that the 2 lovely souls were able to be given their appropriate last acts of great kindness. RIP. Thank God that you all are here to keep saving these animals. And some people too , along the way, I suspect.

It's 3.40am in the U K but i had to be here for this episode. Love you all. Excellent video.
KORY, you are so beautifully patient with the horses. They definitely have the right person doing that job!(Robin)
Sad to lose 2 more, but bless their hearts, they tried... Jenna: "What if it's a Teratoma..." 😆 🤣 Dr. Young seems to be a great addition to the team! And donkey wars went well for everybody involved! Great night, guys!❤️❤️
Your veterinary staff is phenomenal! I love watching how they work in harmony with each other. And to watch all of the Ferrier‘s do everything they need to do to make the horses more comfortable is wonderful. Welcome Owen to the team! And it was fun to see Carol push herself to have more confidence. Thank you for everything you do for these precious souls!!!!! I can’t wait for the next episode! 💛🧡
This was one of the best videos!!! You all truly have a smart, willing, dedicated crew… can’t wait to see the Vet Barn fully functional too!
Cory works with the horses like Steve Young, who helps horses in the UK with mental issues from neglect or bad experiences.💕. Cory is so patient!👏🏻👏🏻💕

Hi again A great day with alot accomplished. Nice work to the 4 farriers. Very impressed with women doing the job too! Owen seems very capable and a good addition. Wonderful to see your patience with the tougher situations as time is what it takes to heal. Thx as always for the great job you all do and the TLC you give to them all.

What a great team ! I've fantasized if driving across the country and volunteering for maybe about a year. Lately I've concluded I don't have the stomach for the medical procedures that are so commonly necessary. You all have my admiration and respect ! ❤️🌿🐎

I've wanted to drive across the country to volunteer, too! I don't have the guts for gore, or the strength to move heaving panels, bags of feed, etc., but I can clean human & animal quarters, paint, repair fencing, etc. I bet they can always use steady volunteers who can perform lighter-weight duties of janitorial & basic groundskeeping that aren't "glamorous" jobs, but are necessary. Volunteers who are satisfied to do gruntwork can give paid Staff more time to focus on more urgent tasks. Perhaps we Left Coast fans/volunteer wannabes can convoy out there to help out for a week/month/ whatever? What blast it would be! I wonder if we could arrange to set up an eastbound Critter-Care Caravan of RVs, campers, tents, etc., on the property (with extra tarps for protection from those crazy cloudbursts, of course) we'd be handy to help at all hours. Hmmmm...😇🤓🤠🐎🐴🦄
You all do SO much for these horses. Thank you.
THANK YOU to everyone at Horse Plus Humane Society, you are real angels and work together as an awesome team. I have always loved horses since I was a young child and am a huge animal lover. My favorite horse is De Lente and all Draft Horses because Draft Horses are very calm, gentle, sweet, and trusting. It is terrible that Draft Horses usually are forced to work hard labor for many years until they cannot work any more. Greedy, cruel owners sell the unproductive Draft Horses at auction, thus, risking them to be sent to slaughter houses. GOD BLESS HORSE PLUS AND OTHER RESCUE ORGANIZATIONS FOR SAVING ALL THESE BEAUTIFUL HORSES. ❤❤❤❤❤
Audited transparency is excellent and hard work. Congratulations!

This was my favorite episode of HSH ever! Really great audio and visual and editing, the new vet is wonderful, I loved really hearing her explain things, and I loved the longer takes rather than short clips where we barely get to know the situation/horse. Watching Kory train Carol was so so cool. Owen seems fantastic. I teared up hearing about the two that need the last act of kindness, but also at the kindness of the guy who adopted the hennies. Jenna wonderful as usual. Keith wonderful as usual. I can't believe you all made Kory help with another eye operation! Just such a great team of people doing important work in a kind & caring way. I'm sure Tawnee and Jason are proud!

good job..platinum..wow..amazing guys..god bless you all..
I know this video is a year old, but foundered and/or thin soled horses do very well with boots instead of shoes. I'm not opposed to shoes, I shoe several of my own, it's just not the best option for rehab. There's alot of pain for the horse nailing into sore feet too. I've used cavallo boots with memory foam inserts to successfully rehab foundered horses. They stay on very well in the pasture, but you do have to take them off for a bit every day or two, just to check for rubs. It's also a great opportunity to use some keratex hoof hardener, which also kills white line. They're very easy to put on and off. It's also a good time to give a supplement for thin soles. Every horse rehabbed like this turned into sound riding horses. Foundered horses hooves grow much faster than others and they need their toes rasped every 3-4 weeks to keep the shape good. Easy to do when you don't have to take shoes off that often. Once a horse has foundered, lifelong diligence and management is a fact of life if you don't want a reoccurrence. Dry lots or grazing muzzles are a must during much of the year. Weight tapes used often. Exercise helps a lot. Plain fescue hay or Timothy is all they need most of the time. Bonus they're easy keepers❤ I've seen very few horses in 50+ years with them, that absolutely need a heart bar shoe with a pad to be able to stand and walk. The guy talking about founder is also incorrect. Every foundered horse doesn't have a significant drop of coffin bone or tons of rotation, unless it's gone on for quite a while or had multiple founders without intervention. It's important to get X-rays at the beginning to see how bad it is. There are horses that are so far gone and so painful that euthanasia is best option. I'm sure this was done as HPUS doesn't hesitate to euthanize. As far as the training on the obstacle, steady pressure is MUCH better than pulling, as pulling tends to cue a suck back. Surprised they don't know this. But he is correct on release with a step, even though he's not recognizing try and is slow on the release.
I really loved watching Carol during the training session....you could almost see what she was thinking as she triumphed over previously-scary stuff like pool noodles. You are all amazing and you do great work!!
Thanks for a great episode, keep up the great work.
God bless you all for your kindness! Salutations depuis le Québec!
