For those complaining about T & J addressing the staff changes... Had the girls been let go for poor work performance or other non public actions then airing the reasons would be in poor taste. HOWEVER Those girls actions were visible to the public and what they did reflected poorly publicly on HP. Explaining what happened and how it was dealt with is called being transparent and is an absolute necessity when you rely on donations. If Jessie was worried about her personal safety at the auction wearing the logo then she should not have gone to the auction. No doubt there was plenty of work to be done at HP with so many of the staff away at the auction. She didn't seem to be concerned for her safety when she was riding a sick horse in the ring. Breaking a contract has consequences, so does committing fraud. Don't spit into the wind and then act surprised when you find a loogie in your eye.

So sad to hear about the three employees and why they are no longer there! So heart breaking to know these three were not there because they wanted to help do their part to help sick, injured horses 100%. Seems they had two sides and I for one do not appreciate fake people! We all know from watching the videos part of the adoption agreement is that if you adopt and at any point can not care for or keep the horse it is to return to the rescue! Sorry, she knew that and to try and sell the horse was just her way of giving HP a middle finger. But it seems HP did the adult thing and just smiled back at her and got back what was meant to be with them all the time! To potentially sell an animal with health issues and not provide that information to a buyer your no better than those who buy sick horse for slaughter! Wish none of them any ill will but true colors show and people around those 2 or 3 will see that ugly side of them soon enough!

Thank you for your transparency. There's no room at an animal rescue for someone who exhibits that level of unawareness and tries to justify how they've let both the horses and Horse Plus down. My hope is that they realize they've been brainwashed into thinking that their behavior was okay and I hope they stop doing harm. They may have been fan favorites once, but no more. A rescue needs to have a zero-tolerance policy for anyone who doesn't support their mission and you did the right thing by cutting them loose. And also by telling us about this so we don't think they're representing Horse Plus. Looks like you're got a strong team shaping up this next season. Can't wait to hear about all the good you're doing!

It might be a good idea going forward to make a public announcement when someone leaves the team, for whatever reason. The announcement doesn't have to mention why the person has left, just that said person is no longer affiliated with Horse Plus. It'd hopefully prevent confusion in the future. It might also help anyone who in the future has to leave because say they've got a new job, or are moving or whatever reason, so that the public will know that they aren't working for you guys anymore and are just doing their own thing.

That is so true ❤ That's why I prefer horses to people. I've had one of my horses for 22 years, he's now 26 and my other horse (who is also 26) I've had 15 years and I was the 14th known owner when I bought him when he was only 11 years old.Poor boy had been abused and passed around every year until I got him, dissapointment by humans but he loves and trusts me and I would never let my horses down and they've always been there for me, more than I can say to a lot of people.

I’m sorry HP had trouble with some former employees. These abused horses are utterly dependent on the honesty and good will of the people around them in your organization. There’s room for improvement, but no room for compromise in these very basic employee qualities. Considering the former employees issues became public, I think you were right to publicly explain what happened. Your job is to protect and build HP’s good reputation. FYI, the person who didn’t want to wear the Horse Plus jacket at the auction had previously been assaulted at an auction by a horse trader. Could that be why she didn’t want to wear the Horse Plus jacket? I usually respect every decision that Horse Plus leadership makes, but I am distressed that Horse Plus is publicly shaming former employees on a video that leaves a permanent record and destroys reputations. A nonprofit does not have an obligation to satisfy the public’s curiosity about why employees are no longer present. By stirring up anger towards former employees, Horse Plus leadership isn’t meeting professional standards. Despite the “explanation,” I choose to remember the young women mentioned for the love and goodness they inspired in me and wish them the absolute best.

@@annieem3431 Seriously…they exhibited no such bullying or harassment! These girls betrayed the trust HPHS leaders had for them…that they could be trusted to care for the horses. The girls helped out people who were discarding horses thru the auction process. The girls supported those people and helped them by actually riding the horses in the sale ring! As an employer you have a right to expose these kind of underhanded dealings. Not only can they NOT sue Tawnee and Jason for anything…but the one might end up in legal trouble for falsely applying for unemployment! And it wasn’t airing ‘dirty laundry’. The girls were spotted at the auction and were recognized as being part of the Horse Plus Heroes organization which resulted in a serious slur on their reputation as a horse rescue organization. As for the jacket issue…Tawnee said there were no other people at the auction when they were filming that video. She just didn’t want to wear an identifying jacket…maybe because other people would recognize that she was double dealing.
