ABOUT US:
We moved from the city to the country one year ago, right before the Covid lockdown. So much has happened in the last year. We now have horses, chickens, baby chicks, guinea fowl, a very handsome rooster, 2 adorable bunnies and 2 dogs that are adjusting to country living (one more successfully than the other). We have undertaken many renovations (both inside and outside), love sharing tips/ tricks/ hacks, trying to repurpose items or do things on a budget, and are always looking for the next DIY project. We started taking videos for family and friends to keep them updated on our journey as we navigate trading in city life for life on the farm... and decided others may be interested as well. So here we are on KZread, and learning the in's and out's slowly but surely. I apologise for some of the poor video and audio quality, as well as wind in some clips. We have purchased a gimbal and quality microphones, and are working on continuously improving the video quality for future episodes (though I haven't quite figured out the outdoor microphones - I am working on it). Your patience and support are very much appreciated as we continue to learn how to produce quality videos.
We hope to produce video content that is entertaining (who doesn't love seeing cute animals), provides you with some inspiration and ideas of things you can try in your own life, and hopefully gives you some helpful information.

Just let the foal nurse by itself. If you are forcing them, the mare is going to panic and is most likely to reject the foal. This could of been prevented, and you need to stop being stupid and let nature do its thing.

This was the mare’s first foal and she was not allowing her to nurse. While it looks like this was all happening in a few minutes in the video, I can assure you that was not the case. We only stepped in to assist with the birth when mom and baby were in danger, then gave them their space. We allowed the mare and foal the maximum amount of time that is safe to figure things out and start nursing, without jeopardizing the foal’s survival. An equine vet was involved the whole time and we only intervened at their direction. As soon as the foal and mare figured it out, we again backed off and allowed the mare to take over. While we fully believe in allowing a mother to have her space and let nature do its thing, sometimes intervention is necessary for the safety of mom or baby. Had we not have intervened when we did, the foal would not have survived. Luckily, Scott has extensive experience delivering animals and we were working closely with an equine vet throughout the entire process, which resulted in a healthy mom and foal. ❤️

It is not a horse issue. It is a stupid human issue.

Nope, not a human issue. Equine vet was involved every step of the way.
