Close Call With New Born Horse!!! Here At The Flying L Ranch
Үй жануарлары мен аңдар
Dummy foal explained: The Mare that birthed this foal almost died a week before actual birth so we were lucky to even get this far.
With that in mind and for the safety of both the mare and foal we ushered along the birth. The end result of that act did not allow the foal the proper time of constriction and stimulation to its nervous systém in the birth canal.

It's Amazing ! The little horse is so clean ! And the place is magic ( sorry for my english)
Folks…this is called a “dummy foal” and often happens when born breech or for other reasons they don’t get “squeezed” properly in the birth canal. Essentially it’s like they don’t know they have been born, so their brains don’t tell them to stand and nurse. The way you fix this is by squeezing them tightly around the rib cage for several minutes. You will see them suddenly “wake up” and act normal. It’s a strange phenomenon with horses.

@gnarf250 of course horses can't speak, but it's a "mood." You clearly have a gripe with the phrase which also indicates that you have an understanding of the application of that phrase that the current generation uses. One can infer from your comment that you harbor feelings of resentment for these millenial/zoomer phrases, perhaps it stems from a deeper feeling of being left out from being able to use these phrases.

It’s extremely weird how sometimes all you have to do is be like “wake up! You’re alive!” And here they come. I’ve seen multiple births where the babies just didn’t… it’s like they did not even notice being born. You have to shake them and rub them real good to “wake them up.” And they pop right up like they finally realized they’re alive.

I don’t know how it works in humans, but it’s called Dummy Foal Syndrome in horses! Basically that’s exactly what happened, they don’t realize they’re alive. They were either breech or otherwise squeezed incorrectly during birth and don’t realize they’ve been born.

Ok, it absolutely never occured to me that an "anything" new born could be born asleep. That could be very disconcerting.

Aww that is sweet! Axel is a beautiful horse! You can see him and his older sister Cabbi in many of our other videos. They are the Red Dunns. Have a wonderful day!

Is Red Dunn the type? I assumed they were Palomino. Of course, I only know Palomino, Appaloosa and Arabian so…
