SMALL TOWN HORSE AUCTION - DID WE BID?

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

We head to a small town horse auction. We had never been to this auction before but they were suppose to have quite a bit of tack, and we were really hoping to find a harness for Oliver, our Clydesdale. Plus looking at all the horses and the cutest donkey was defiantly a bonus!
Follow along with our family as we share our life events while living on our 168 acre homestead, farm and stables!
We are all about raising and training our horses, the Missouri Foxtrotter. Our goal is to bring awareness to this breed and showcase just how wonderful they are! We also raise and train our working border collie dogs. And don’t forget the homesteads sheep, goats and mini cattle!!! We also go to occasional auctions and recently have gotten into regenerative farming/agriculture. We are all about learning how to improve our fields/soil.
Phew! That’s a lot! But we love it! Make sure to subscribe to our channel to follow along!

Are there people watchers to see what people are interested in and pull what that lady did in hopes uf jacking up the bid price? We have them here (PA), but on antique s and vintage items.

@@vanillaghetto That's a hell of a mean thing to say! And little teeny boppers like you have no idea what it's like being responsible for a whole farm full of animals, and a family of 5. Keeping everyone fed, healthy and happy. With all 3 kids still in school. And 2 of them girls, who cost way more. Plus all the electronics and expensive toys that all kids think they need now, to keep up with all their freinds at school. It's insane what all that costs! You have to think WAY beyond the purchase price of $175, to ALL of the future costs, in time as well as money. Half of auction animals require immediate veterinary care, at about $300 an hour, plus medications and repeat exams. Feed alone costs a fortune. It might seem to you they can live on grass, but they actually can only have grass as a small part of their diet, or else they get a crippling disease called founder. Many foundered equines need to be put down. And grass isn't even available in winter. Every time any KZreadr goes to any auction, they are always just bombarded with people begging them to go back and get such and such, or berating them for not saving at least one more horse every time they set foot at an auction. In order to keep learning and to keep up on new trends, as well as to find used equipment, owners need to go to auctions, where they will be able to see a wide variety of horses and their owners, and ask questions of real live people. Reading and videos can only give a person just so much. In fact KZread is a terrible way to learn about horses. A lot of disjointed junk, in no particular order, presented by people who have no clue half of the time. Horse people need to be around other horse people. And if they have to endure this kind of pressure from the viewers too much, they will just stop showing auctions. You have no idea how stressful it is to them to try to keep everyone happy! They love to share, but you guys just don't think about them as real live people with feelings. You hide behind your screen names and say any old rude thing you want to anyone, whenever you feel like it. As one of them keeps saying, she can not just start hoarding horses! If she did what the immature girls wanted her to do, she wouldn't be able to give proper care to any of them, and would end up going broke, and having to sell them all. Then they'd ALL be in dire straits! At some point these horse owners have to say no more. Or at the very least, no more unprofitable horses. So stop saying unkind things to them. JR did try to make sure the donkey got a home, and if the lady hadn't taken him, JR was going to find a friend who could. It's more than most people would do, and it's not his fault she backed out at the last minute, leaving him dumbfounded and unsure what to do. In a flash it was over! And then it was too late. Haven't you ever had anything like that happen to you? As young as you seem, I'm sure you have. And knowing JR, he feels awful about it! I can tell by his voice. He really wanted to help and he tried to, but he got screwed by that lady. So you and all these other immature people need to get off their backs! This family already took on a lifelong commitment to Oliver. And more recently they rescued a mare and her foal from another auction. I forget the horses' names. The foal is almost white. The video is on their channel. They are following through on all 3 of those horses. That's 3 in under 6 months, so they deserve your praise, not derision. Grow up.

We've never been back to one since. We start all our own from foals. It's the safest way to go. Gustan was very gentle n beautiful. I'm sorry u weren't able to help him out. But would you pay for all the food, and regular vet care, and foot care, and teeth care, and how do you even know he's healthy? That would quintuple the vet care, at at least $300 an hour, plus medications. And what about all the extra time, are you willing to put that in too, for years on end, until he dies? I very much doubt it. You'd want your mummy and daddy to buy him for you, and after 2 years you'd leave, and leave him behind. You'd just say he's not your problem anymore. Oh sure you'd miss him, but you'd move on anyway. Typical. I pity JR and Emery. They have hundreds of teenage girls bugging them. None of whom have a clue what it takes to take care of a farm and a family of 5. They have already rescued 3 horses in the less than 6 months! You people need to get off their backs!

Have you thought about using the amish guy that makes harnesses. The one that working horses with jim is always using. I'm pretty sure ive heard jim say they ship and you dont have to pay until you receive it. And wanted to tell you I think your a good man and have a wonderful family. And your a great steward to your animals.

All the horse KZreadrs get so much criticism and pressure from viewers. It's so nice to see someone like you, with a constructive, helpful suggestion and some heartfelt praise. I hope they read your post, though it would be impossible for them to read them all. It certainly made me happy! All of the best to you!

I hope that donkey got a nice home. He sure was cute, very sweet and he just needs a forever home. I wonder why he wss there in the first place as he appeared to be a really nice horse. Horse people are going to recognize lameness in a horse. You can only hide it for so long. As soon as the horse gets moving lameness issues will be seen. That paint mare looked nice but I didn't like the way she was standing. Poor old girl.

Wherever that Jack (gorgeous Donkey) came from, he was well treated and given affection and care. Seeing that person smack him made me really mad. I am sad you didn't bid anyway. He probably would have been easy to find a good and deserving home for. These auctions are hard to watch when you see animals who have served thier owners for most of thier lives just being dumped. I don't know if I want watch more of them, it's too sad and heartbreaking.

Yes, Cherie, I definitely agree. Perhaps the paddle was soft and just made noise. But I don't care, the action was not needed or necessary. The donkey was sweet, gentle and just seemed sad and confused as to why he was there. Heartbreaking for sure. I truly hope his new owners are good one's.

I love Arabians. The ranch where I learned how to ride when I was a kid had Arabs. Some of them were lesson horses. The horse thst I had as a teen was an Arab/Qtr horse cross. Best horse as he could literally do anything. How I miss him.
