Specialty Missouri TRAIL HORSE SALE! - YOU DON"T WANT TO MISS THIS!

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

We head to the MISSOURI TRAIL HORSE SALE! This auction is specifically for Missouri Foxtrotter Horses, which is a gaited breed. Our daughter Rebekah is starting to look for her next project horse and is hoping to find one at this sale! She finds a beautiful black gelding and you won't believe who the other horse is that we find! A son of our late stallion SUNRISES GOLDEN IMAGE! We are so excited about this find! We also head to the MFTHBA Fall Show And Celebration directly after the sale and have more IMAGE SURPISES there! If you enjoy our videos make sure to subscribe to our channel!
Follow along with our family as we share our life events while living on our 168 acre homestead, farm and stables!
We are all about raising and training our horses, the Missouri Foxtrotter. Our goal is to bring awareness to this breed and showcase just how wonderful they are! We also raise and train our working border collie dogs. And don’t forget the homesteads sheep and goats!!! We also go to occasional auctions and recently have gotten into regenerative farming/agriculture. We are all about learning how to improve our fields/soil.
Phew! That’s a lot! But we love it! Make sure to subscribe to our channel to follow along!

I'm shocked they didn't 'no sale' the filly. Honestly, grade fillies of no particular merit, appearance or otherwise, regularly sell at double + that from platforms like Facebook market place, craigslist, etc.

@@homesteadhorsemanship on the bright side she might have been a steal but she isn't what you are looking for right now. You'd have to feed her for a year before you can really start to train her. She would risk getting hurt for that year.

You introduced me to Foxtrotters. They are gorgeous looking horses, petite and athletic. In the shows, the rapid up-down head movement of the horse, combined with the back and forth head movement,on a craned neck of the rider, is foreign to me. Seems like an acquired taste. I’m sure I would have a headache.

It’s an unusual gait but a very pretty one once you understand it. Many thanks for such enjoyable, knowledgeable videos. Love from NZ.

I'm really loving these horse auctions!❤️🐴 (already love "stuff"auctions) thank you for taking us along & continuing to teach - I learn something new on every one of your videos - I'm glad JR put out a word to the wise that it might not be a good idea to get your first horse at an auction setting unless you know what your doing (I'mpositive I'd get myself in trouble there) & like he said you want people that would stand behind their horses - i did see the 1 buckskin with the right front issue when he pointed it out 😪- I wish I could have a horse or a donkey - but I can't live in city & don't know how to take care of them properly even if I could - I know a bit about other smaller animals - so all I can do is rent a horse back ride by the hour ☹️ I'm little under 100 lbs so I'm happy just riding little horse in circles (for kids) (pitiful!) Heck I'm so desperate I'll even ride the kid mechanical fake horse in front of the store (pitiful !) & I've rode rent a horse over my whole lifetime - love riding - well I'll keep watching y'all & keep learning - guess I'm 1 of your virtual trial ride fans - 🙂 -

I thought so too! I was just appalled by that! So much so that I would have told her off. For any age of horse, she was just way too heavy for a horse that size, even just once. But a 2 year old?! Many people won't ride a horse until it's 3+1/2, or even 4. So to put a big fat person like that on a 2 year old is cruelty. That can cause long term back problems. What she did is definately outright cruelty.

I’m just amazed at how cheep horses are going for at this auction. In the Denver/Brighton/Parker (Troyer Auctions) area those horses would have gone for double to triple. At $2,800 that would have been a bargain in my area.

A few moths ago they would have been higher here too. It’s the inflation and economy we are in. Hopefully we go back to an administration and economy where Luxury items like horses sell well.

Dang. I would have bid on that yearling palomino. I need a large horse.

Just a question Emery, not a criticism. How come you guys didn't ask why the Palomino yearling filly was back for a second year? It seemed as if you had time to ask. Isn't that pretty important? I understand your hesitancy to bid. You would have been thinking "Who knows how high it will go?" I understand bidding is very stressful. And you'd be wondering do they really want her? And I guess JR and Becka decided she wasn't so important, or they probably would have been there. And JR would definately have asked the owner that question earlier. You did right Emery. Lots of love from Canada. ❤

Good tip about the male horses and the possible clue that they had a drug in the sale ring. Any clues on how to tell if a mare has had anything?

Love your video. My brain is a little stuck on the buckskin filly being a weanling in 2022 and now a lame 2yo in 2023?

But they can't just buy horses right and left, and horde them like stuff. And especially when the horse is over the price they had set that they can pay! Plus, they each cost a small fortune to keep. Becka did learn a great lesson here, and she handled herself so well. After all, it was her money. There will be a ton more pretty horses. Letting their heart rule their decisions would be a disaster.

The show horse seems to be bobbing their head a lot, is that on purpose? Never seen that before

Yes, it’s natural to this breed. They reach out so far that their head “shakes” in order to reach. We have some who only do it a bit and then some more.
