    This locomotive is one of my favorite looking ones. Even though I'm in the states, I quite like the look of these locomotives. Also, the weathering on this one is very nicely done. It's not too much but just right to make it look more realistic. Great job on the review Sam.

    Another top video Sam. Having a weathered loco in your fleet gives it variety. Also in my view of all the GWR 4-6-0's the Grange class are the underrated, unsung heroes. Look forward to your next video regards, Gary.

    Modern design was in the 2000s, its gone down hill since in late 2010s and 2020s. The patchiness would have been because they would have washed the parts that need to be clean for regulation purposes. In the last days of steam, usually only the number plates and the br emblem would be cleaned. While everything else would be dirty. "Yea" to the visable valve gear which would have shown the internal stephenson valve gear. The tender wheels are stiff, but great model nonetheless, love the weathering. It's on my list of future locos to buy lol😄

    It looks a pretty good loco. Loving the brass detailing on the cab, splashers, etc. She should have Stephenson's valve gear on the inside, I think... The coupling isn't a 3 link type... It's a screw link type 😁 And the odd one out was the Crab Well done Mr Sam.

    Nice review Sam. Good to see Bullman again! It looks like the middle and rear wheels on the tender are not moving at slow speed when you was doing the slow speed test. I was wondering if them dragging was likely the cause of the noise? For a 13 year old model I think the detail is very good myself. Not sure about weathering on locos, some seem to suit it and others not. think this would have looked better without myself.

  • @SamsTrains

    @SamsTrains

    A lovely model Sam, and a great review as always. It's always personal choice, but when these locos are running on a layout, it's difficult to see all this fine detail, so getting a value purchase as you have managed to do is the right way to go. If they're purchased to go into a display cabinet, then the extra details is fine....otherwise, the extra costs do seem difficult to justify...Just my own opinion...Regards...Bob

    Beautiful model Sam! Here's some info you didn't know: The Great Western Society tried to purchase 6853 Morehampton Grange but due to funding issues of how expensive Granges are, they purchased a Manor instead. The new build Saint going on there has a chimney that came from a Grange. Also, 6880 Betton Grange who is under construction was the next one to be built originally. 15 more were to be built but the project was cancelled because of the WWII. They hope 6880 is finished near the end of this year and they plan to also run her on the mainline. I can't wait!

    While I do prefer the pristine look, I can appreciate weather. And that Grange looks very nice. Also, in case you were curious about the new grange, Betton Grange according to their website, she's almost done, and is going to have the boiler fitted soon. Hopefully a new model of her comes out soon. :) Okay, spotting time! LNER B17 at 14:459--very sneaky showing it so early Sam. :)So is the odd one out an LMS Crab at 18:39? GWR King at 18:49, LNER B12 19:07, LSWR S15 at 22:10. As always I really love the spotting "game" if you will Sam, please don't stop doing it. :)

    Not in the same league as the new King Class for sure but a nice looking loco nevertheless. I couldn't help but notice that the tender wheels were not turning much on linking up with the carriages and then again when setting off. Maybe the tender is too light.
