Bio: Leonardo Torres was raised Catholic and left the church at age 18 after being threatened to be kicked out for asking questions about the bible concerning his grandfather's death. He identified as an Atheist for 12 years and spent that time actively arguing with street preachers, witnesses and anyone else who brought up religion. At age 30, he had a strong encounter with God that made him drop his Atheist title and he became a free follower of GOD which he calls, "The Great Spirit". Taking God seriously and following Him wherever He leads him, Leonardo started this KZread Channel reaction to music as a "Non-Christian" musician reviewing Christian music. Through the music and the stories he began to learn more about Christ and considers himself a Student of Christ. Having been lost and now found, this channel is like a lost and found for lost sheep, Leonardo's goal is to create a safe space where God can find those who are yearning for Him.
Leonardo wants to remind followers of Christ to love one another as they were commanded. He is a man on a mission to spread the love of God to everyone that comes to this channel. Whether you come to stay or are just passing by, we pray your soul is touched by The Holy Spirit and that you are changed forever! Join us on this journey, not by subscribing but by making a commitment to allow His Love into your heart. Ok dear Leonardo, here is a video that will show you the heart and talent of this group of upstanding young men. It will help you understand why they have such loving and loyal fans. This happened in Kearney, Missouri. The concert was cancelled because of a huge thunderstorm. The audience was directed to shelter. It was pouring rain. The group refused a ride to the shelter and walked to it like the audience had. They decided to sing a song for them, since it was cancelled before they even started. They were all raised Christian and have amazing morals. Remember when the Hebrews didn't want to go up the mountain when God came to give Moses the 10 Commandments? It was because they were afraid of the lightning and God's voice sounded like thunder. As they sing,I will bow in humble adoration, the lightning lights up the sky,the lights blink and the thunder cracks. Adam, the beatboxer who sings in this, smiles and looks up. The boy knows his bible. I believe God spoke. How many groups would do this for their fans? This is from a cellphone recording in the middle of a storm. Enjoy! kzread.info/dash/bejne/haOKqLKvoJu8mJc.html

This song is done in a country reggae beat. It showcases the higher & lower ranges of both Tim Foust & Avi Kaplan. That last note of Tim is impressive with how low he goes, but more impressive is how long he sustains the note. On the "Sing Off Show" that Home Free won in 2013 Tim goes even lower on this song "Ring Of Fire" & he impressed the judges so much that they gave them a standing ovation. And Adam Rupp once again was stellar in his vocal percussion.

This is from June, 2022, so recent. kzread.info/dash/bejne/lG131LiwYqXOhdY.html They always are striving to improve, so they actually welcome critique of their technique. The Fries can be pretty rabid about them, but overall, as long as the critique isn't malicious, the fans just love that others are coming to the joy of Home Free.

Tim has a five octave range. For The Sing Off version, Home Free received a standing ovation from both the judges and the audience. It was then Home Free realized that they had a chance to win the competition. Previously they had planned to be on a few episodes as the token country group and then return to their touring of state fairs, cruises, and occasional corporate events. They are basically very humble, down to earth guys. They never expected to win The Sing Off Their lives changed with their winning of The Sing Off. Tim is from another planet, if you consider Texas to be another planet. Tim won singing competitions while he was n school. Texas evidently is also into the arts as well as football. The state provided him with free private singing lessons from the ninth grade until he graduated.. No doubt their performance of Ring of Fire has changed to some degree. They changed it when they had Avi as a featured singer. Since then, Chris Rupp resigned from the group to pursue individual projects. In his place is Adam Chance who sings baritone/bass and has a four octave range. Austin has said that the group's sound has changed with Chance in that it is a softer sound than before Either way they are phenomenal.

So happy to see you doing more Home Free. I have been following Home Free since I found them in February 2016. I do NOT like the recorded version with Avi in it…..they do NOT need Avi or anyone else in this one. The live version is 1000% better-in my opinion. Their collaborations with Kenny Rogers, the Oak Ridge Boys, Alabama and others are on another level. But my favorite it the five of them by themselves. Not a pentatonix fan. Don’t know how many octaves Tim went up. But he has at least a 5 octave range. ***the live version was when they were competing on the show The Sing Off. …..and nope, you haven’t seen it all. You have only gotten started. 😂

That’s Tim for ya. He has a 5 octave range so he can go super low and then sing up with the tenors. The first one featured Avi Kaplan of Pentatonix, he has a lovely voice. Tim and Adam (beatboxer) really are from other planets I think! Tim has been known to break speakers and I heard him live and his voice goes through you and rattles you and I was sitting in the mezzanine section! Home Free is known for harmonies. Try Helplessly Hoping, Auld Lang Syne (for New Years), Brothers in Arms, In the Blood.

As fans (HomeFries) we are very aware of how awesome HomeFree is and we are very proud of them but we are not thin-skinned where legitimate criticism is earned. We get defensive when HomeFree is hacked at by people who are unqualified to critique them. Give a reaction not just a pat on the head move on...we are not just here for bias confirmation. If you find something in a song that you believe could have or should have been done differently, say so and start a discussion.

These two versions are more contemporary than using a newer live version as suggested - but it would be interesting to see, as you mentioned, any changes they might have made. It's interesting that you liked the cymbals in this one better than in Do You Hear because this was released over a year before Do you Hear. That phrase is "higher", so the high notes are reasonable - as well as they were responding to critiques from the judges on previous performances. Like Tim's low notes - they are occasionally used 'for show' but mostly they are used for the music.

This version featured the fabulous Avi Kaplan who was the base for Pentatonix their first 6 years. Avi is a classically trained basso profundo and had just been offered the lead bass singer for the L.A. Opera House when the newly forming group Pentatonix call him and he went with them. He is now a solo artist who writes 98% of his own songs. He stays in the genera of Folk, Americana Folk, country and Western. He just released his first full length album this past spring. Has been busy touring Europe the U.S. and Canada but also managed to re-record some of the album at Sunset Sound in California. These studios are owned by Shooter Jennings, son of Waylon Jennings and Jessie Coulter. You may not be old enough to know who they were. Here is a song from the Studio version. Not asking you to react to it, but you might want to give it a listen.

Thank you for your reaction, I enjoyed it. Honesty is always best, and as long as they are stated respectfully, I will listen with interest to your opinions, even when they might not be absolute praise. I actually think that true fans don't expect their favorite performers to *always* be on point, they are human after all (well, with the exception of Adam Rupp, who is a freak of nature LOL.) If you want to do another comparison between studio vs live performance, I would recommend "Working 9 to 5" (live version: kzread.info/dash/bejne/qHyNyblplpbZe6g.html) with the obvious caveat about any live performance video, most are fan recordings from cell phones, and do not necessarily have the best sound balance or best location in the venue. 😺

This was the song that won them The Sing off, even though it was halfway through the competition. It was such a cool interpretation, and they are all just really good musicians! Before The Sing off, they were like a hidden gem here in Minnesota and the Midwest as they toured county fairs and corporate events, and I remember they even went to high schools to encourage students to pursue music. (The original Home Free members went to my high school several years ahead of me, but we had the same music teachers, ha!) They performed for our choirs and talked to us about how they put together a song, and decided who was going to sing what, and Adam Rupp taught us how to start beat boxing. It's been so cool to see their success, after a lot of hard work and evolutions!

ROFL, i love how intimidating us home fries can be in defense of our guys. Home Free is my favorite group but i know they are not perfect, they are closer than anyone else, but they also make mistakes. What we home fries love the most about our guys is that we know who they are, who they really are. They are not full of themselves, they did not change after winning the sing off. They love us as much as we love them. And what they do when they make music if as close to perfection as anyone i have ever heard. When they tour and have the inevitable screw up they don't try to cover it up. They own up and know it will be seen by everyone who wants to see it and know that us fans love them even more for it. I am subbing for more reactions to Home Free from you.

Never apologize for stopping and backing up. It's what we live for. I also still recommend VoicePlay with their A Capella version of Carry On Wayward Son. The are the theatre kids of A Capella and they do like to showboat some, but are still very good in their own right. I'm all for you sharing your critique. I appreciate that more than a reactor who is just a "yes-man". You are going to have people upset no matter what. For instance - Sherry Obsessed reacted to Geoff Castellucci's Blackbird and she was honest about not liking. She was promptly told she didn't know what she was talking about. But I prefer the person be honest. I like hearing what a person does or does not like about something. Glad you enjoyed this. I had also suggested their live version of Helplessly Hoping (fan made video). No beat boxing, just harmonies. There is only one video as far as I know so it should be easy to find.

Tim’s range on this one always gets new reactors, however… you ain’t heard nothing yet 😄 Home Free, the official version: Beatboxer: Adam Rupp Tenor: Rob Lundquist High tenor: Austin Brown Baritone/bass: Adam Chance(goes by Chance not to get the two Adams confused) Bass: Tim Foust But in reality it’s more like: Beatboxers: 5 Tenors: 5 Baritones: at least 3 Bass: at least 2 Oh and critique is welcome as long as it’s respectful. There’s two reasons Home Fries watch reactions, 1 to see reactors get blown away and 2 to hear their opinion on “Our” boys.

Having Tim and Avi on the same stage... This was a bass off. These two and Geoff Castellucci have a running friendly competition to see how many speakers they can blow in their concerts. So fun! Chris used to allow them to do those 3 person high interplays which were amazing, but when Chance came in it balanced their sound with an epic dual bass so Adam had to slide in with the tenor support. Much better!

Funny you said Tim Foust was from Jupiter. He used to be in an acapella group called Blue Jupiter! Lol He does have a 5 octave range that is insane. I'm ok with some critiques. Some people may not though. There is one thing to keep in mind with the critiques. Home Free has been around a little over 20 years so keep in mind how old the video is. They always seem to improve on what they are capable of. They tend to push themselves to do try new things vocally. Also, now that they are independent, they don't have to do as much of the wild fluff stuff to wow us.

Avi is an exceptional Bass vocalist - he is not as gifted in Bottom notes - or for that matter three register voice talent .... but, if you love the man from Pentatonix work .... herein he is admiring Tim Foust at the end .... his eyes roll on the Low note Tim produces ! GBjj

I think the low note at the end is a G1. But the live version was keyed a little lower and sounds like an F#1. They occasionally have a little extra fun and play around or show off a little. That live original version was to compete in the Sing Off, so you'll get some spiced up bits to score extra points and wow the crowd. If it had originated as a song in an album, they might have dialed it down just a little. But they sometimes do something flashy just for the fun of it for no particular reason.
