Avi has a more opera bass sound, whereas; Tim's a more natural country bass sound. There really is no comparison between the two as far as notes go, but it's more of which one you like the best. Me? I love them both, and therefore I refuse to choose between them. Thank you!

You took the words right out of my mouth. Most people are comparing who can sing the lowest notes, but for me the sound of the voice is more important. They are both great singers, but I love Avi's voice, it's so smooth and warm. I love this song and your reaction to it!

    >I love both, Tim's voice is beautiful in his *Tim Foust-Can't Help Fall in In Love* (audio/vid) tribute to his Gram..From Texas, been all around the world, w/diff. a cappella groups, even b4 HF, can sound rounder like in this song, or recall more country, where he grew up.. >FYI- Avi was trained operatically, so sounds rounder, Tim's self-taught (except h.s. choir)..I'd l❤ve a collab. with Tim, Avi, Chance (bass w/"Street Corner Symphony"/2nd place "Sing Off 2") & Geoff from Voiceplay (same Seas. 4, as HF & did hilarious *Hillbillies vs Zombies* with HF!)..Since a cappella is still a small community compared to 1000's of bands w/instruments, most know each other & support each other.. (Members of HF, Ptx, Voiceplay, etc, have been to each other's concerts, etc)!.. >Ptx/pop/soul & Home Free/country-ish/pop/soul, are the 2 biggest selling a cappella bands in the world and 1st & 2nd Most Viewed Vocal Bands on UTube, pop is a more popular genre, but HF's reaching a huge audience not familiar w/country b4, those harmonies!😊

No doubt they are 2 of the best basses out there. Both have a velvety, smooth bass where so many others are rather harsh. Both are pleasing to the ear. As for one better than the other... I think they're just different & I like that. Great reaction as always!! Thx!

Both basses are great! Avi has an operatic type voice very smooth. and Tim has a growly type bass, rough, but goes very low, and both sound great in each of their chosen genres. Thanks for the reaction again Patrol Gaming. I look forward to the next Home Free reaction.

Avi had a designed chance to display his vocal range. Tim does the same in a handful of other videos. Overall I think that Tim might have more range but in a specified range he doesn't seem to have the control that Avi has (probably doesn't need it). Love 'em both. I love most everything Home Free does, including this. They can change up and rearrange even minute details and the song has a new life if not meaning However I am partial to the more traditional, even paced, storytelling way that Ring of Fire is sung. To me it is a song best related as if a guy sat down by you at a bar and after his first sip of beer starts telling you 'Love, is a burning thing and it makes a fiery ring... '.

  • @declaneric

The main difference between Tim and Avi is tone and technique. Both use an affected bass, and sing mid-high baritone when not dropping low. Avi is opera trained, and so moves through his bass/baritone a little easier than Tim does. But Tim is very gifted with his tone, and he's practiced a LOT to hone it to a nice smooth hum, you can hear it when he sings. So who goes lower is irrelevant, because you have to have a reason to go low, and so most basses aren't competing for the handful of songs that require the lowest notes, they just sing what the songs require. Both are phenomenal, and come at their singing from different places. and that means we, as listeners get to reap the benefits.

They're all so good!! I always enjoy reactions to this video. About Avi and Tim, I have my favourite of course and I don't really care about vocal range, super low or super high notes (same with tenors). It's interesting to talk about that topic but is not everything. As long as a voice makes me feel something for whatever reason (tone, dynamics, emotion, etc.) that's "my thing" . The range comes after for me. That being said, I like them both and listen to these gentlemen is always a pleasure. Nice reaction, mate!

One of the reasons I love this vidoe (and if you say this later in the vid, sorry, grin) ismthat you can hear the skill, tallest, and four years of training in opera that Avi brings. I love home free, and Tim has a good voice, but Avi just brings another dimensuon. His voice is richer and softer, but also stronger, more controlled, he has better breath cadence, his vowels are more full, his sounds is produced more intentionally. It's a stellar song though.

And while I'm replying to myself, might as well address the low note. Time is a good five to seven years older than Avi, I think. He was at this taping, probably 30 or 31. Avi was 24, 25? Basses don't really hit their vocal maturity till 35, even 40. So we may see Avi get that low, but at the time this was taped, he only had a g1 in his growl notes, not really something he could sing. I think CHANGE is in the key of C, so the lowest we are hearing there might be an A, but more likely is a C2
