    Listening to them in concert is an EXPERIENCE. They know exactly how TIm's ending note affects the crowd and make you wait for it. But when he hits it, it literally rumbles in your chest like a frigging earthquake, it's absolutely nuts.

  • @wirelessmikedj7784

    Tim Foust is the bass with a 5+ octave range, Austin Brown is the high tenor, Rob Lundquist is the lyrical tenor, Adam Chance (newest member) is a baritone/bass and Adam Rupp (co-founder with his brother Chris Rupp who was replaced by Adam Chance) is the vocal percussionist. Adam Rupp seems to eat drumkits for breakfast and he does a "Drum Solo" during every concert where he goes off...the older drum solo is him wearing a red flannel, and is a good intro, but this one is from 6 years ago and there are newer ones that he uses a looper. When he isn't doing percussion he can sing in a tenor voice. They all have amazing voices and talents. Tim has a doo-wop album he just released, Austin Brown has a channel with BEAUTIFUL songs...Rob and Chance both do collaborations with other artists. It is a deep rabbit hole with a few tunnels. Pentatonix is amazing...they are more pop/synth, Home Free is more Country but can sing many genres and the trifecta is VoicePlay which is more theatrical.

    These guys are all so talented. They lean towards country but they can do any genre. They all can take the lead depending on whos voice is best for the song. They are known for their tight harmonies. Tim Foust is one of the best bass singers out there & their beatboxer Adam Rupp can simulate any sound. Keep up your journey through Home Free. You will not find a bad song. They are my favorite a cappella group. Home Free are not about theatrics, it's about showcasing the song.

    You want more home free, there are hundreds of songs that are fantastic. These guys are so awesome, so talented. The high tenor voice you heard is Austin Brown the deep base Tim Foust. They both cover 5+ octaves. Beatboxer is Adam Rupp there is no one better. To get to know them better check out Man of constant sorrow. There you see the other two fabulous members tenor Rob Lundquist and Baritone Adam Chance. Adam Chance is not in this video. He came in later. Here you have Adam Rupps brother Chris. These two founded the band. Have fun checking out more songs...brothers in Arms, When a man loves a woman....and for some fun an original...champaign taste on a beer budget

    Home Free is an amazing group, for sure. Their version of Man Of Constant Sorrow is great as well as their version of Sea Shanty Medley! Avi Kaplan has two solo albums and the first one is in heavy rotation in my personal music library. Well worth a listen! Another amazing acapella group is Voice Play. They show a lot of humor in their videos but their voices are fantastic and their bass singer, Geoff Castelluci, is my all time favorite (he has a lot of solo work out there to check out as well)

They are willing to show their goofy side which makes them so lovable. They recently released "Ain't Goin Down" but due to licensing they couldn't put the video on KZread. They released it on their Facebook page. It's worth a listen if you want your mind blown. I'm a fan and it blew my mind!

    You really can’t go wrong with picking any home free video/song. The only recommendation I have, and I know the majority of the Home Fries will agree with me, is that you NOT react to Mayday too early. You’ll understand why when you do get to it, and with how you explained your feeling towards “having an expectation and having it thrown out the window” I know you will appreciate waiting to watch that one. Most of us recommend watching anywhere from 5-10 other Home Free videos first, but more important than the video count is just making sure that you know each of the members a bit better and what their individual parts/singing roles are in the group. Welcome to yet another branch of the wonderful rabbit hole that is a cappella music :)

    If you really like their fun style and humor, then try their Sea Shanty Medley. All of the requests for Man Of Constant Sorrow are correct, so try that one first. Watch the beatboxing really closely on all 3 of these songs. Adam Rupp is amazing. No instruments at all. So they had the 5 Home Free members and Avi Kaplan as a guest artist. 3 of them are from the deep south and 2 are more central/northern U.S. rural. Tim Foust - bass, with surprises. Chris Rupp - baritone, cowboy hat. Left around 2015 and replaced by Adam Chance (a.k.a. Chance) who is amazing. Rob Lundquist - tenor with a beautiful tone in a bluegrass/hillbilly 'flat' style and full beard. Austin Brown - high tenor, long-ish hair, baby face. Darker tone and very bendy style. Adam Rupp - tenor, but mostly beatboxing with a really wide range of sounds and strangely realistic drum kit sound.

    Avi is pronounced Ahh Vee. I love how at the end he takes off the beanie and puts on the stetson. Home free is a wonderful group! they are more country style. the bass from home free is a lower bass but has a different tone. They have so many great songs! Their beatboxer is a freak of nature. Check out his drum solo. They also do R&B stuff like End of the Road by Boyz 2 Men For this group, try When a man loves a woman, Sea shanty Medley and be sure to get RickRolled with Never gonna give you up. They don't take themselves too seriously. Oh also Man of Constant Sorrow. Now that you are in the acapella rabbit hole, try Voiceplay. They have the lowest bass singer I've ever heard. They do some crazy stuff as well.

    I found Home Free about 3 years ago. Something after the unexpected death of my partner. It was a way to relax after a very difficult period, but also to finally be able to do what I loved to do: listen to music. ... Ring of Fire was the first thing I saw of HF (Actually because I'm a big fan of Avi). From that moment on, it became more and more. Until today I listen to HF every day. But it is also true that from that moment on I rarely listen and watch PTX. HF really is that great. All amazing voices with their own specialties, great harmonies, deep bass and the inhuman mouth artist Adam Rupp. They don't have a real lead singer because they see which voice fits which song, no Egos, no rivalries, beautiful personalities. It doesn't matter what song, what genre, Home Free will make something of it. All different voices, but still one. That's why Home Free is perfect for me

  • @ejburke8271
    @ejburke82712 жыл бұрын

    This arrangement of "Ring of Fire" was specifically done to be a show-stopper on "The Sing-Off" - an a cappella TV competition show. It was done to be able to shock the judges and shift people's perspectives partway into the piece.

    Home Free has been around since 2000. But they hit the big time when they won the Singoff TV show the season after Pentatonix won it. (That was back around 2013.) They have many former members from way back, but they've only made one personnel change since the show. Tim Foust is the low bass. That last note he hit was a G1. (When they created this arrangement and did this song on the TV show, everything was a half-step lower so that end note was an F#1.) Chris Rupp, wearing the cowboy hat here thruout, is the baritone / backup bass. He was the group's founder. He left the group in 2017 or so. Has his own YT channels as Chris Rupp Official and 7th Ave Band. Austin Brown is the high tenor. Rob Lundquist (beard, glasses) is 2nd tenor. Adam Rupp (Chris' brother) is the beatboxer. Chris was replaced by Adam Chance, so you'll see him as the backup bass in their later vids. They just call him "Chance" to avoid confusion with Adam Rupp. * You do also have to start watching Voiceplay. They competed on The Singoff, the same season as Home Free. Came in 5th or 6th. But they've done very well since then. Each of their members has skills more or less comparable to the corresponding members of Home Free. So, we're looking forward to you going nuts over the low bass work and wide ranges of both Geoff Castellucci and Tim Foust. All three of these acapella groups are friends, help each other out on techniques, arrangements, occasional guest spots, etc.

    Yep, nice reaction as always, I'm looking forward to see your face when you'll hear Geoff Castellucci (of Voiceplay) hit some of his super-low notes. :-D I love all of those singers. And bass singers have something special... Avi, Tim and Geoff have different voices, with very different sound. All of them are capable of rumbles that would shake the Earth from below ;-) , but they use this capability in different ways. It's not that one is better than another, they're just DIFFERENT. :-) When you'll check Voiceplay ('cause I know you will... ;-) ), start either from "The Dragonborn Comes" or from "My Mother Told me". Just to get a couple of good examples... ;-) BTW, if you like bass singers, you could want to check "The Emperor new clothes" by "The Bass Gang"... Yes, they live up to their name :-D

    Home Free are fabulous. I love this song and I also love the version they did the year they won the Sing Off even better. Every single thing they do is awesome. If you dive into their body of work, you will never be sorry. I adore Home Free. The fans are called Home Fries. Adam Rupp (co founder of the group) is a world class, insanely skilled beat boxer. The super bass with an unbelievable vocal range is Tim Foust. The sky high tenor with a voice strong enough to bend steel is Austin Brown. The lower tenor with a voice like sweet buttery caramel with soul thrown in is Rob Lundquist. The versatile and talented baritone, is Chris Rupp (brother of Adam Rupp and the other founder). He has since left to pursue a solo career and was replaced with Adam Chance gifted baritone/bass. The do just about any genre you throw at them. Moonshine, Brothers In Arms, Folsom Prison Blues, Catch Me If You Can, and Blue Ain't Your Color are some of my personal favorites, but they really don't have any bad songs.

Home Free can make you laugh hysterically or cry at any point. And Pentatonix is like the all round game changer. And occasionally they get together with each other's group, like in this one! This video was produced about the time that Avi left Pentatonix. You'll notice that at the beginning of the video, he starts of wearing his characteristic Pentatonix beanie. On the last note, when Tim hits the bass note and Avi jumps up to sing the "bah-buh-dah-buh-dah-bah - dah - dah" with the rest of Home Free, that his beanie is off and he's donning a cowboy hat. The significance is that his new solo career was going to be making some new folk music. (You should check out some of his new solo stuff.)
