This song is done in a country reggae beat. It showcases the higher & lower ranges of both Tim Foust & Avi Kaplan. That last note of Tim is impressive with how low he goes, but more impressive is how long he sustains the note. On the "Sing Off Show" that Home Free won in 2013 Tim goes even lower on this song "Ring Of Fire" & he impressed the judges so much that they gave them a standing ovation. And Adam Rupp once again was stellar in his vocal percussion. The song you saw at the end was written by Tim Foust & is called "Champagne Taste On A Beer Budget". It really shows their funny side.

Pentatonix was the gateway for other acapella groups like Home Free to move into more mainstream music pathways. I am a new sub. I truly enjoy see younger people appreciate acapella music . The song you asked about is call champagne taste on a beer budget, written by Tim Foust the bass singer.

The song on the trailer at the end is written by Tim Foust (the bass singer and the guy in the overalls) is called "Champagne taste on a beer budget". I would also recommend that you check out the "Butt's Medley", and "All about the bass". You just can't go wrong. HOWEVER do not listen to "Mayday" until you get to know all the names of the members and get very familiar with what each member brings to the sound. This group was started in 2000 and won the tv show "The Sing Off" in 2012. You can find videos the will show all of their songs from the show. Well worth the time to watch (and we would like to watch it with you) Enjoy your trip down the rabbit hole home fry recruit!!

The bass singer in the skull cap is Avi Kaplan who started with the Pentatonicx before he left for a solo and colab career. He was the bass you commented on in Hallelujah. Home Free is outstanding!

Welcome to the world of subharmonics! Those super low bass notes take a special kind of voice. Both Avi from PTX (dude in the beanie) and Tim (the guy who actually hit that note in this song) are a rare breed. The bass from Voiceplay, Geoff, also has those notes, but only through insane skill & practice as he’s a natural baritone.

Look up their live performances on the sing off. They won the competition. They really took off after that!
