The first clip is ESG safety glass. It is heated a second time and quickly cooled so that the surfaces are shorter than the interior or core. This creates permanent tension and a very resilient surface, but the slightest hit on the outside will cause an explosion. You can see it when touching the crane arm slightly, it's over. I worked with this material and this happens all the time :)

I was wondering about that. I replayed that clip like 5 times and couldn't find an impact, but now I see it's really just the slightest hit. Must be damn good stuff once installed to be worth the risk during installation.
@MrMarco84
Жыл бұрын
@@belisarian6429 Exactly :) and there is another advantage, which is much more impressive imo. If it comes to a break, it ends up with thousands of small pieces which are not sharp at all. The pre-tension leads to round edges of the fragments and they are to small to hurt you. This is pretty genius material.

These clips are really worth studying. You can learn a LOT of wisdom from seeing how things can fall in unexpected ways. Just as one example, if something is attached at one end, like a tree branch, and the free end pivots down before the attached end breaks, the branch is likely to swing in towards the attached side, and anything in that general area could be hit.
